I have stayed at Maraba on several occasions while doing business in São Paulo and I don't have much to complain. The neighborhood is not the nicest especially at night and there are masses of homeless people in the area. I wouldn't wander around after 9-10pm without a local guide who knows where to go and not to go. The Republica metro station is very close, maybe 200-300 meters from the hotel.

Rooms that I have stayed in have always been good and clean. Only complaint is that Wi-Fi doesn't work very well so mostly I had to use a cable to get the Internet working.

The hotel restaurant serves really good breakfast with great selection of fresh fruits and standard breakfast items. The A la Carte is decent but quite expensive.

When I stay at the hotel I always request a room with a balcony facing the main street. I love to stand on the balcony and observe the buzz of the city. Street vendors selling their illicit goods and regularly running from the police only to return a few moments later, football fans forming a parade and occupying the whole street while singing songs and waving banners or just common people doing their everyday things. You can really feel the heartbeat of the huge metropolis and get absorbed into the concrete jungle.

Due to an unfortunate change in the flight schedule our airline brought us to this hotel for a single night with the family. They were very flexible and helpful in providing us a room that slept 5. The breakfast was ok and there was plenty of choice.

The appearance of the hotel is a bit dated, but the beds were good and the rooms were clean. Don't go there for the view!

Although not nearly as "English-fluent" as the website suggests, Maraba Hotel offers clean accommodations and a central location at a fair price. Dated, but secure and offering free WiFi with a strong signal the Hotel is what one needs but no frills. Add on a 24/7 Gym plus friendly staff, it worth a look if price and access matter more than luxury.

We booked this hotel after reading great reviews on trip advisor. The room we were given was dark, smelly and the noise from the street was unbearable. We had prepaid for 3 nights but we checked out in 30 mins. Not a single staff spoke English or even Spanish. Not a good hotel if you are visiting with family.

A suitable hotel, close to shopping malls, se Catedral and metro station . A nice lobby with a lovely restaurant and a full breakfast, although most staff can not speak English.
I stayed there for three nights

I have lived in Sao Paulo and know the downtown area well, so I like staying at the Maraba because it is very well located in the city, and is very comfortable. The beds and the showers are the best. Breakfast buffet is varied and of good quality. I especially like the Brazilian high end crafts used to decorate the common areas, such as the lobby and the restaurant. I sometimes stay there to enjoy dinner and a show at the Bar Brahma, which is next door almost to the hotel, or the Teatro Municipal a few blocks away.

Staff here are very friendly and correct. We also managed to get a price of 260 Rais per night, which was below internet price (around 300) and way below standard price (420 rais). The hotel is great for a walk around the old town, which today is more of a dystopia (read Gotham city), but which used to be one of the finest cities in South America only a few generations ago. The plendid architectyure is still there for all to see, but the houses have to a large extent been abandoned, occupied by criminals and drug addicts. The place is not safe to walk in after dark, even though there is a police on every street now, for Brasil to show they are doing something about crime before the Olympics.

The only problem with the hotel is that there are few good places to eat in this part of town. You mostly have to go to Jardins area, south of Ave. Paulista.

We also ecountered a curiopus problem; there were only warm water one night and the following morning, making a shower impossible. We addressed the problem and it was fixed duing the second day, it appeared, but hotel management never acknowledged the problem after it was fixed. Instead we saw a sticker in the shower, hinting that this could be a reoccuring problem.

we pulled up and nobody came to the car to open the doors and they looked at us funny when we asked where to park the car, nobody spoke English, They don't have irons in the room and it cost over $20 to iron two shirts!! The room was tiny with the bed not even 2 feet from the door. As far as location is concerned there is only ONE bar/restaurant to go to within a 3 block vicinity called Bar Brahma...absolutely nothing else around other than sex shops and seedy stores. The only reason why I didn't gave this is a 'terrible' rating is because the bed was comfortable.

The bathroom of the hotel are dirty, has mod in the wall. The workers are friendly and willing to help. Downtown are full of homeless people around and dirty street althought they are calm. Avenida Paulista is a nice place to visit. For shopping go to Iguatemi shopping has all brand shop. Note: Things are very expensive and no tax free. Teatro municipal are great.

Dated but clean. The WiFi was great. The room was spacious with a nice balcony. The bed was comfortable. When I checked in I went to my room to find it open and unprepared. I returned to the front desk and was told they couldn’t change rooms and they would send housekeeping immediately. Returning to the room the housekeeper showed up 10 minutes later.

Os quartos não tem banheira nem sala. As toalhas de banho são de baixa qualidade e já bem velhas. O café da manhã é muito tumultuado se o hotel estiver com uma lotação alta. Não lembro qual TV a cabo.
