Booked off of hotels.com. Nice hotel, staff was friendly enough to show me a different room if I wanted to stay in another one. Wifi is a little choppy but however I was indeed able to get it in my room. Location wise the it's in the city center which is a little desolate at night time, not sure if it's the best area to go out at night, however probably great for business travel. Recommend, no complaints.

A clean, well run, older hotel with friendly, helpful staff just steps from Praça da República and Viaduto Santa Ifigênia. Hotel Columbia is situated in a cluster of small hotels catering primarily to Brazilian travellers. There are churrascarias and other local restaurants and bars nearby as well as plentiful street food.
The neighbourhood is safe and walkable, even at night, with a strong police presence and plenty of people around.
The free wifi worked fine. Breakfast was nothing fancy but adequate in line with Brazilian hotels of this price range.

Old hotel. The location is super dangerous, as there are many homeless people. The woman at reception is extremely rude. Lots of noise coming from the street. In my case it was 1 day, and I couldn't sleep at night due to the noise from the street. I can honestly say that it was the WORST HOTEL I've ever stayed in in my life. Run! Run away! The place where the hotel is located is very dangerous, I couldn't even sleep. The feeling I had was that at any moment someone would enter my room.

Unfortunately we booked this Hotel as it because we saw the pictures and looked ok for us. Was a big mistake. This Hotel is in the worst area from Sao Paolo called crackland. Terrible neighbour. We arrived late night when was even more scary. The room looked terrible but we ad no chance to find something else late at night. Don't decide after the nice picture as you will get disappointed. We will not stay there again.

Good location for both sightseeing and shopping, excellent infrastructure, varied and very good breakfast, staff always attentive and helpful, looking forward to returning soon, I highly recommend the hotel.
