I worked in Pleven and company provides accomodation at Balkan hotel. The room was at 9th floor, the rooms was renovated. Had air-condition, and new carpet. Acceptable the room and clean. Free parking provided outside of hotel, free wi-fi was good but not all the time. Im not sure that i prefered this hotel if i had the choice to choose. However, its an honest hotel.

On my way to Greece and after many hours on the road I decided to stop for the night and stayed at the Balkan Hotel.
The prices for the two-star dark rooms were just the right value for money.
Roo.s are clean, with a mini-bar, toilet tries, and a city view.
The best of this Hotel was encountering the lovely lady at the reception! Valeria M was accommodating welcoming, friendly, and helpful!
I true hospitality professional that makes us feel welcome with a great smile!

Thank you!

The name fits: this hotel is Balkan all the way. Built in the style of the Communist era and could count as a period piece: pseudo-elegance gone a bit shabby with time. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful, speak some English. The room and bath were clean enough and everything was in reasonable working order. The hotel is quite conveniently located. I had breakfast, included in the room rate. On Saturday and Sunday it was adequate, but on Monday, my last day, the pickings were sparse indeed even though I came to breakfast fairly early. There is another large hotel in Pleven and if I ever come back, I might try that one. Wifi was available but rather poor.

The first impression comes from the friendly people that are very polite and friendly. The tall building and the view from the top floors is incredible, you can see the amaizing city.As a bonus to that it is very cheap and have a restaurant.

I stayed one night in dbl room on 11th floor. This is large socialistic hotel with renovations. Higher floors give you good panoramic view over the town. Rooms are large with standart decor. There is panoramic restaurant on the top floor. I stayed before in another hotel in Pleven, but there is big difference between two hotels. I recommend Balkan for short business or leasure stay.

You would not expect excellent hotel in Pleven I agree. But there is a lot of room for improvement on this one. It's kind of cheap (50 euros) but also so depressing, with its beyond the iron curtain architecture... The staff is friendly, the breakfast is untouchable.

My husband me and his parents stayed at the hotel for 1 night. We supposed to sleep there 2 nights but after we saw the situation in the hotel we decided do not waste more time there. The location is bad - not so close to the city-center. The stuff is old and doesn't speak any English. The building is from the 2nd world war and the room was awful! The one good thing about the hotel was the parking area!Don't stay here if you don't want to waste your time and money!

i checked in for one night at the balkan hotel, 'cause i had no choice but to stay one night in pleven. It was a horror experience.I can't imagine why i had two doors in the bathroom, and when i opened one it was a wall of bricks....I don't know what was that electronic thing that repalced the nightstand next to my bed, which looked like 2nd ww radio station, i don't know why no window could be opened, it smelled like hell, it was dirty, and through the wood that was on the wall for decoration i think, the rats had no problem to walk all night long.If you have to go there, don't get undressed when you sleep, don't take a bath, dont make any hopes. It's a horror hotel.

This is a big building poorly constructed during socialist years.
The new private owners did renovations in a strange way.
Lobby - poor service from untrained ladies. Very slow.
Elevators - slow, on busy hours you wait, after that you get in in a crowded cabin. Stops on every floor with poor management of up and down directions.
Internet- accessible when available. Often drops and is missing.
Room does not have enough sockets and they put an additional extension - see the picture.
Behind my bed there was external cabling. Very strange decision for a hotel.
Breakfast- better miss it. Poor selection, low quality of food.
If you need 1 night stay it is OK. You can compromise.
