Beautiful hostel in a beautiful, peaceful town. Loved the hostel and loved Isla Negra. Rustic, Eco-friendly hostel, close to the ocean and only a short walk from the 'main strip' of town. Clean rooms, great service and an awesome outdoor area where we enjoyed a fire and live music one evening. While here I also learnt to make different types of native art forms. A great hostel for anyone looking for something a little different; there are dogs and cats, dishes are washed in buckets outside but if this doesn't bother you then you'll probably love it! Sandra, the owner seems very passionate about what she does. Muy buena onda!

This is a beautiful hostel overlooking the sea but unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by our interactions with the owner, Sandra.
She seemed quite nice when we arrived and showed us around the hostel. It is forbidden to wash dishes indoors. Dishes must be washed outside, in the cold. The shower is terrible. Changes between hot and cold without warning and the water pressure is very poor.
On our first night, Sandra needed help moving a gas cannister, telling us that if she couldn't move it, we'd have no running water. We helped, no problem. She lit a fire and told us to put it out if we were going out. Fine, no problems. She left then and did not reappear for the rest of the day, or night.
We went out for dinner and her three dogs followed us all the way down the street. We were worried about them following us to the end of the street, thinking Sandra wouldn't want them going too far, so we brought them all the way back to the hostel and closed the gate behind them. They got out through a hole and followed us all the way to the main road and down to the restaurant. They picked up other dogs along the way until there were seven dogs walking with us, starting fights with other dogs and refusing to leave us.
We had to track Sandra down the next day when looking for advice. She was never around; we were left alone and there were no other guests. She appears to live behind the hostel.
We tried leaving the hostel on our second day but the dogs wanted to come too. We explained to Sandra that we wanted to go out for a walk but just wanted to be by ourselves and not have the dogs following us. She was rather rude, looked at us disdainfully, shrugged her shoulders and said the dogs were not hers, that they were free to go where they wanted and it wasn't her problem. We found this rather odd, because she keeps those three dogs in at night and has a large bag of dog food for them stored at the hostel. She did not reappear for the remainder of our stay.
In months of travelling this has been the most unwelcoming and unfriendly experience to date. The whole experience was spoiled and I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone. Ever.

I absolutely loved this hostal. I found this hostal, and Isla Negra, the perfect place to connect with others, with nature, and with one's own spirituality. The rooms were very clean, rustic, and colorful. The quotations painted on the walls had me pondering, and the general atmosphere of the hostal was geared towards inclusion, community, and teaching. Many different types of therapies were offered, but we also had the chance to learn about recycling and water use. The owner, Sandra, was a beautiful person, and her love for people radiated from her.
However, this place isn't for everyone - there are no televisions, dishes are washed in basins (to save water!), and the hostel is host to five lovely dogs and two precious cats that guests should be ready to accept (they are kept outside, but like to accompany guests on beach walks).
I look forward to coming back again soon.

Travelling to have a rest from a life in Santiago, escaping from the routine, I was staying almost two weeks and couldn't leave. Hostel is in a quiet area, only 3 minutes walking from a beach and the place itself is warm, full of harmony and love, respecting nature by living an Eco life. I learnt a lot about recycling materials, how to use them in a common life, how to make new products which I personally find really useful and above all it was fun. The family of the owner respects MAPUCHE traditions and you can be taught for free how to make for example a "dream catcher" " eye of a God" and various of braceletes... Hostel has a big garden, so I read a books under the trees, stayed at the terrace talking to other kind travellers or spent evenings by fireplace. Hostel has a quite big equipped kitchen, so we cooked a lunch many times together with others guests or Sandra (the owner) prepared chapatis for a dinner... Simply delicious!! :) I was also interested in therapies which are offered here: massage, reiki, drum therapy. I fell in love with this place and had a great time... For me it was a perfect stay to have a rest, disconnect and enjoy a nice simple life, feeling like home. Will be coming back soon :)

We wanted to visit Pablo Neruda’s house at Isla Negra but because it was slightly off season we weren’t able to book a reasonably priced day trip from Valparaiso, so we looked into catching the bus and staying overnight near the museum. This hostel attracted our attention and worked well for us. It’s a 15-minute walk up from the highway and about 25-minute walk back across the highway down to the museum and ocean access. The hostel is quite basic with very limited washroom facilities and a tiny kitchen, but complimentary tea and coffee, and almost no common space indoors. Guests are required to remove footwear at the door but the floor is very cold, especially in the morning – bring thick socks or slippers! Bed was warm and comfortable. Like elsewhere in Chile, there are “stray” dogs everywhere that sleep all day and bark and howl all night – a bunch of them were roaming around outside the hostel the night we were there.

A very beautiful area, a charming house, and lovely hosts. Sandra is very sweet and welcoming and my daughter had a great time playing with her daughter. A great place with kids, and probably without, too. Would totally recommend. They even tried to teach us to knit. Really a lot of fun.

Stayed here while traveling solo. Easy arrival by bus from Santiago. Sandra was very welcoming. Hostal is clean. Pets are friendly and attentive (if you want them to be, so not bothersome). Breakfast is tasty with home-baked bread and a wonderful muesli, butter and jams, cheese, avocado, tomato. Had a wonderful massage on site. Good location for walking to Pablo Neruda house, Punta de Tralca, Tabo.

I spent 8 days at this hostel and loved every minute. Sandra Luz is a lovely woman and a great host. She is all about love, heart, and healing, so this is a perfect place for anyone looking for some magic in their lives. She serves a delicious and healthy vegan/vegetarian breakfast and has a great menu for lunch or dinner. Stay here. You will love it.
