Upon arrival, three extremely happy and sweet dogs welcome you.
We were spoiled by the owner: hot tub under the stars, with Pisco Sour! Welcome in Chile, he said. Great!
The hostaria was unfortunately close during our stay. The owner arranged for us a dinner in the woods in a "secret" little restaurant. 3 guests and a cook. Best dinner in Chile.
Our cabaña were a little dark, but finding the fireplice lit after dinner surely made up for that!

The Hosteria de Vilches was one of the best stops on our 6 week trip to Chile. We happened upon it on the way up to hike at the Reserva Nacional Altos de Lircay. We were greeted by Pedro and his wife Bernita, who were both lovely and spoke English quite well. The individual cabins were well appointed and private overlooking 2 beautiful pools and gardens. The meals (breakfast and dinner) prepared by Pedro and Bernita were amazing, using local ingredients. And the hot tub and spa was perfect after a long day of trekking. It was very affordable and worth the drive. We highly recommend!

My family and I stayed in two rooms in the newly-constructed hotel at the Hosteria (they have fully-equipped cabins, but we chose not to cook). From start to finish our stay was incredible. The rooms were immaculate and so were the three pools and the common areas. We ate a copious amount at the restaurant each morning as breakfast was included in our stay. If you are looking for super helpful staff, thoughtful construction, and peaceful surroundings close to the National Park, THIS is your place.

Thoroughly recommended. My partner and I saw this in Lonely Planet and had read the high reviews so when we wanted to visit the National Park, this was the obvious choice. A little more expensive than our budget but it was completely worth it. We came in the off season, we were the only people in the resort and the owners went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The cabins themselves are beautiful with log fires that are prepared for you (as it was extremely cold!) We didn't come very prepared with food etc, but we were provided for excellently - when we asked if we could potentially get a little something from the kitchen (no shops around) we were certainly not expecting a 4 course meal! But that is what we got! And a wonderful breakfast too. Highly recommended, even in the off season and in the cold!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days just before Christmas 2013. We couldn't have been happier that we chose Hosteria de Vilches, from the moment the excellent Claudio greeted us to the moment we were waved away on our departure day by Claudio along with the owners, Bernadetta and Pedro. The cabana itself was clean and well furnished, private and comfortable. And the main lodge was spectacular, with a gorgeous dining room, and many areas to relax. The mini cinema was a very pleasant surprise as well. The grounds are well kept and lush, and the pools clean and refreshing. But I can't say enough about the the people I mention above. We had come from the seaside to the mountains and Vilches and I had eaten some bad seafood. I had a dodgy tummy and gastro problems when we arrived at Vilches and when you are far from home [we live in Toronto] and don't speak the language or know anybody, it's so comforting when people care about you and truly want to help. Pedro and Bernadetta went out of their way for me, driving me to a clinic, bringing their own medicine and calling a doctor friend for advice--in Spanish, and translating for my husband and I into English. As for Claudio, he insisted on my having his homemade chicken and rice soup--absolutely perfect when you need nourishment but need 'gentle' food. We were so happy to be at this place when this illness struck. By the time we left, I was feeling much better and my husband was relieved as well that all was fine. We were able to face Santiago being well rather than being in some ER somewhere totally stressed out--thanks to the people of Hosteria de Vilches. Thank you so much! We can't wait to return when we are both in perfect health to do some hiking in the adjacent park, and we will also try out the on-site spa. Can't think there would be a better place in all of Chile. --Bonnie & Jules

Hi Bonnie & Jules!! For us it is gratifying to know about you, but more than that was to have had the opportunity to look after you when you stayed in our Hosteria. We have a nice impression about you and we would like to receive your visit again in the future. Warm regards, Bernardita and Pedro

I would definitely recommend this beautiful place for anyone who is looking for peace and quiet in the Andes mountains. It is situated in Vilches Alto and offers cabins for two people on a romatic getaway or large cabins for family and friends. Each cabin is tastefully decorated in beautiful rustic decor and blends in with the peaceful atmosphere. There are cozy kitchenettes that offer everything one could need and spacious bathrooms. In addition to the two large pools surrounded by fruit trees, flowers, and native birds, the grounds also offer a movie room, a pool lounge, and a spa complete with a sauna, massage room, vapor room, showers, jacuzzi and a hydromassage pool. If you're not up to cooking a meal in your cozy cabin, the lodge offers delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner which is served with love and is always varining from day to day. At night you can fall asleep to a stream that runs through the property and wake up to the sound of birds chirping in the morning. You'll get the best night sleep of your life! The service is excellent and I will be returning in the near future!! Natalie S.

I definitely recommend this place for a couple nights! Its very close to Altos de Lircay National Park and the owners and staff treated us like guests in their own home. They served us delicious food, delivering drinks to our cabin, and made the most of a power outage by lighting candles around the lodge. They really cared about providing high quality service and making sure we were happy during our stay. Thanks to Pedro and Co.!

I was the only guest for a couple of days over Christmas and I was looked after perfectly by chef Claudio who went out is his way to make me feel comfortable. He is a great chef and gave me a great Christmas dinner at night. He also helped me with the buses to the Park and answered any questions I had. Thank you so much Claudio for putting yourself out over the. Heist as period Penelope

"If you're bussing in buy food and matches in Talca. There are small shops nearby with limited basics but if you forget the chef Claudio and his kitchen team produce superb evening meals."
