I was told not to have high expectations for hotels up in the mountain as they are usually expensive and lousy. Thus, it was a pleasant surprise that Shilin turned out to be very good for a 4 stars up in the mountain! Its Chinese restaurant served very good food and the price was reasonable! I have expected it to...

Went up the Huangshan Mountain on a cold rainy day. Arrived at the hotel to meet an even colder reception. The receptionists were efficient, but curt and economic with words. We asked for adjoining rooms but they say "no" giving the excuse that for the kind of room we booked (on the Internet) there is only one such room on...

Being a skeptical person about accommodation on mountains, I checked into Shilin with no expectations and was greeted with a clean and comfortable room. Thanks to the heater we had a warm room to rest in during this wintertime. Basic needs like kettle and hairdryer were available. Towels and bedsheets were clean too. Breakfast buffet was typical Chinese foods like...

Now I will have to say that I was a little skeptical of this hotel (we spent a record-breaking 9 nights up at Huangshan) as there were many complains of dirty rooms and horrible breakfasts. None of that happened to us. It's a hike from the Cloud Valley (YungGu) cable car so those who are complaining about the distance is...

I guess we had to stay here because we wanted to stay up high and this one was the cheaper option, but still WAY over priced. But people keep paying it right? So....yea. The walls are super thin, I could have a conversation with the couple next door having sex. The beds are typical in some Chinese hotels, hard...SO whatevs....

We stayed New Years Eve. 12/31/16 It was cold as expected and there were still a good many people in the Mountain area. On the plus side, the rooms were decent in that the bed sheets and towels were clean. Adequate hot water was provided and you wake up already in the mountains. On the negative side, they do NOT...

For our visit tot Huangshan Mountain we did choose for Shilin Hotel again, no regrets. Hotels up in the mountains are expensive but we knew that. Shilin is good located, short distance from the cable car. We love the photo-ambiance of the hotel. Food is good, and they were helpful to arrange our own photo discussion with the group. I...

We booked one night at the Shilin as we wanted to see the sunrise the following morning. It was a very good little hotel. The rooms are small and the beds small too if you are 6'3 as I am. That said you are at the top of a mountain where everything is delivered by manual labor, so I say...

Don't like to complain but this was at least as bad as some of the reviews had warned. Damp room, paper thin walls mean you hear everything in adjoining rooms, evening buffet was very disappointing with all 'hot' dishes barely warm.

after reading all the reviews i expected the worse, and found out that it wasn't so bad. the room was small and basic, including squashed mosquitoa on the walls. the staff at the front dask wasnt that nice and welcoming. everything in the hotel is overpriced so bring what you can with you. the only advantage is the great location...
