There is no such thing as customer service at the Jiaotong “Transportation” Hotel. We were ignored at every opportunity. The room was only partially prepared for our arrival – filthy carpet, a few remaining sheets of loo roll, and previous guest’s car keys in the bedside table. Nevermind this, as the rooms are not cleaned during your stay either. After...

To put this in context, Turpan is a really small town and you can't really expect much. But still... the cleanliness of the hotel is astonishing - the drainage in the shower was completely clogged and we had to get someone to come up to do some plumbing because the water simply won't drain; many lights in the room were...

After reading the negative reviews of this hotel we were really surprised to find that the Jiaotong is actually pretty nice. For 160 per night we got a double room that was clean and decked out in the traditional Chinese lux tourist hotel style (complete with glass-walled bathroom). The staff didn't speak English but were nice enough, there was always...

The Jiaotong is well located in the centre of town, just opposite the bazaar. The rooms are clean, which is something to prize in Xinjiang, but the beds are hard. There is free wi-fi in the lobby, but not in the rooms. The breakfast, however, is miserable: hard-boiled eggs, dumplings and a couple of cooked vegetable dishes, black tea -...

You do not have too many choices of hotels in Turpan, so this hotel might turn out to be on your shortlist. The only positive thing I can say, is that it is extremely well located, right across the street from the bazaar. Everything else was a let down, very dirty, I am not sure when the rug was vacuum...

We paid 230 yuan for our room at the "Transportation Hotel", after the receptionist who could not speak any English called a tour operator called Ali Baba who translated for us. The hotel is conveniently located next to the main bus station and across the road from a nice market. The room was quite nice, clean and well equipped (broadband...

The hotel is right next to the busstation and on one of the main streets, so it's easy to find and in a good location. It doesn't look very good from the busstation side, but the rooms are fairly modern. The bathroom was okay, but a little dirty. There is a flatscreen TV in the room and there's A/C, but...

We walked in without a booking and were provided with a twin/standard room for 180Y per night with breakfast (after negotiations). The advertised price is 480Y/night; however, it is not worth that price, so negotiate. The small room was clean and tidy with a modern style. Towels smelled of bleach, so no worry about cleanliness of those. Beds are rock...

We moved to this hotel after a rather unfortunate stay at the Turpan Hotel. While far from perfect, the Traffic Hotel is a much better choice than Turpan Hotel, and we had an adequately comfortable stay. Located by the bus station and the city bazaar, its central location is a boon for most tourists. Good restaurants are hard to come...

After traveling from Western China for two weeks, this Hotel seems like heaven, but really is just a good Hotel for a local Hotel. Location is nosiy as it has the bus station on one side and the main street on the other side. Room was clean and tidy, nothing special, small bathroom, with Hot water... Breakfast is in another,...
