We spent a couple of nights there. We needed to beg for warm water in the shower as well as toilet paper in the restroom. Hardly anyone could speak English. European breakfast was rather poor. To put it short, rather disappointing!

Our group spent three nights at this hotel. This is a picturesque and quaint hotel, but not near the standards westerners are used to. Very good location within the old town with lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Nice court yards and common areas. We had a power outage the first night., the hotel generator kicked in about two or...

Very well located. A nice authentic place. The room was large and confortable but overlooking a blind wall. It was a bit noisy at night. Nice western breakfast. Just ask for a quiet room with some kind of view. But remember : the reception staff could not speak a word of english.

This is not a place which copes well with westerners. It might have been tolerable if we had been part of a group with a fierce Chinese-speaking tour leader, but as it was we had difficulties with communication. Low points were the "western restaurant" which was said to be locked at 8 p.m. and the subsequent experience in the Chinese...

when we arrived i was overwhelmed by the elegance. It didn't last long because of the bedlam surrounding check-in which took half an hour. I had a heavy bag and all the steps made it very difficult to maneuver. Every time you turn around you ;have to go up a few steps which was a real pain. Employees walking by...

Stay 2 nights at room 2207 facing lovely courtyard on 13th and 14th October 2016. Every night starting at 11 pm, we were disturbed by a sound of loud noise coming from Chinese speaking tourists talking and dragging their luggages into their rooms. Bathroom is small and crowded with bathtub which was leaking during our stay. Strangely, hot shower water...

On a cold wet day, I ran a hot bath and luxuriated for half an hour. When I pulled out the plug, the bathroom was suddenly awash with water. I had to use a rolled up towel to channel water into a tiny grate in the middle of the floor! Our guide called the management, who appeared to think the...

Good breakfasts, hard bed, no lift to first floor room, close to old town shopping. Pop across the street to join in tai chi or dance groups, or just do your own routine as some others. Joyous Cafe down the street (towards lake) serves best coffee at good price in a cosy relaxing small place with English speakers, and because...

Stayed two nights on the Wendy Wu Grand Tour. Firstly, the positives; as many others have highlighted, the central location is a great plus allowing easy access to the vibrant hub of the town. There is also undoubted charm in the higgledy piggedy layout of the hotel, with lots of nooks and crannies. Unfortunately, there are also some distinct downsides....

We stayed for 2 nights at this delightful absolutely beautiful quaint hotel which is constructed in the old style with traditional architecture. It lives up to its name with beautifully landscaped gardens in the centre of the courtyards. The reception was staffed by women in local colourful Bai costumes. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, with some English...
