We’ve had the best experience on our 4 days/3 nights Amazon tour in Piranha Ecolodge. We contacted the Ecolodge directly through their website and communicated with the representative over WhatsApp. The booking was done swiftly, which included a roundtrip private bus transportation from Quito to Lago Agrio and boat transfer to the lodge, payment by cash on arrival at Lago Agrio.

The Ecolodge has huts and a tower with ensuite apartments, there is also a dining and relaxation area with hammocks. All very well looked after by its team. We were very lucky to stay on the 3rd floor, which gave us fantastic views of the lodge and forest around. Bird spotting was so much fun as lots of them have their nests in nearby trees. The apartment was very clean, although since you are in the jungle expect some small insects on the walls. The good thing is that they are not really interested in humans, since we are not as attractive as the light in the rooms 😊 After the first night you just learn to ignore them. There is no air conditioning and it gets very humid and hot, but that’s to be expected too and the body gets used to it pretty fast. The lights are switched off at 10pm, so remember to charge your batteries before.

The Ecolodge team is simply fantastic, they could not do better looking after us. The food was super tasty made by Mario, 3 varied meals a day which keeps you full. Our guide Jose Miguel (Condor) was amazing, very informative and detailed. Lots of knowledge about the area and nature. It was incredible to see how much respect and passion he has for all animals and trees/plants. Thank you for teaching us to see the nature from a different angle and reminding us to have respect and compassion for every living organism, no matter how small or big it is.

We did a lot of activities including hiking in the flooded jungle, visits to Laguna Grande, jungle night walk, canoe excursions, swimming in the lagoon, sunrise and sunset watching, visit the Indigenous community. Listening to the jungle at night in complete darkness was a special experience. We saw a lot of animals (monkeys, caymans), birds, insects, spiders, tarantulas, boa during our excursions too. The lodge provides rubber boots and rain ponchos. Make sure you read ‘What to take with you’ recommendations on the lodge’s website.

We absolutely enjoyed the experience and we cannot recommend it enough. It was definitely one of the best tours we have done. Being in a jungle without technology (no internet signal available😊) was a humbling experience. Living our busy lives, we don't even realise how much nature is giving us and how thankful we should be.

With a friend of mine we've stayed for 2 nights (3 days). It was not possible more, since we've visited before Quito, Mitad del mundo, Teleferic.. after Banos, Cotopaxi, Quilotoa and Galapagos, :). Too many things, not enough time as usually.
Piranha ecolodge is probably the first one in the line of lodges (location), has all you need, very peacefull, in the middle of the nature (do not expect internet, that's part experience and it's really easy and normal not to have internet for 3 days). The feeling to wake up and listen to so many birds around yourself is unforgettable. Plus all the greenery...Perfect. Piranha has kitchen+ coffee and tea area, where you can make them by yourself, living room with hammock- to take a rest few minutes if there is some time during day, cottages and high building (it depends what you reserve). With a friend of mine we stayed on 3rd floor in high building. It's perfect (the only thing what suppose to be repaired- the stars are very loud, just fix them, please, :)). Staff was very kind and helpfull, the boatman knew his job and the guide- Fabrizio was very knowlegable, gave us a lot and good information, knew how to trace spots with interesting things and was very kind. Food was very good. I highly recommend it all.

This 3 days adventure was even more amazing and surprising that we imagined.

We were told that our guide was the best and we were told the truth ! Fun, friendly, always suggesting new things to do, always telling us stories, our guide grew up here and showed us the unknown places where other groups dont go. The program is ajustable, we decided to have it super busy!
His english is fluent too.

The accommodation is very clean, confortable, safe for adults and our kids could enjoy a super view from the top the building.

And last but not least, the lovely and caring staff, drivers, chef, coordinators, everyone makes you feel safe and at home. Also, food is delicious and homemade.

I paid 100$us per night, for a room without mosquito net, with crack big enough on floor and door to let the cockroach and spider in and out at there will. Each time i put the light on i saw at least 2-3 cockroach. No closed space to put my belonging either, and the shelf were where the cockroach was the most frequent. The first few days it was raining all days, i asked for rainboots and i was told they were only for walking in the jungle ( when it was suppose to be included in the price). So avoid this place at all cost!!!Camping is a way better option. I told the agency i booked my tour and they told me that it was the lodge who decide to downgrade my rooms ans therefore they cannot do nothing

we spent 4 days/three nights in piranha ecolodge at the end of december 2019. We had a room in the tower which was modern and clean with a beautiful view. The staff around the ecolodge was very friendly and supplied us with good food and was helpfull with any wish. Vegetarian and normal meals were delicious. The programm each day was exciting and full of marvellous impressions. This is related to boat trips on cuyabeno river (motorboat and canoeing), walks in the jungle, swimming in the big lagune, visit of the community. We saw lots of animals and had a great experience of being right within the rainforest. We benifitted alot from our guids, Guido, Benicio and Gilberto, who proofed to be real experts. They gave us a lot of different information about wildlife and the interrelation between animals, plants and relevance for human beings. Also the visit of the community was fascinating and informative. We had exciting and joyful days, an impression we surely won´t forget. We had a great time.

We recommend to stay 3 nights in this lodge. The activities are nice and the guide very friendly and professional. Good location in Cuyabeno. They come to pick you up at the lodge by boat or you can paddle along the river. Good value for money (compared with the very expensive experiences in Yasuni national park).
Enjoy!

Amazing experience. The Amazonas delivered more than we could have Imagined and it could not have happened without our guide George who knew all about the jungle. His experience took us a few meters from an Anaconda of 6 meters. It was huge and me and my fiance were alone paddling a canoe without Any others. Real experience that you cannot find elsewhere. You Will also get Good food and a nice place to stay during your trip.

A unique life experience with friends and nature. The staff at the Piraña Lodge was very personal, friendly, and very committed to make you feel welcome. The food was a relevant aspect of this trip, very very delicious and different, but the staff made the difference. I have no doubts I will come again to live another adventure on this beautiful natural scenario.

My family and I spent four days, three nights at this lodge in the Amazon. I have two boys, 13 and 10 years old. From the moment we stepped on the boat to the time we stepped off of it 4 days later the Amazon provided So many diverse experiences. Our tour guide had lots of experience and was teaching us constantly about the animals, the ecosystem, the environment, the trees everything. We went bird watching, insect night walk, searching for Caymans, exploring in the lagoons, swimming in the lagoons. We saw monkeys in giant groups moving through the treetops, over 70 species of birds, several caimans each night, pink dolphins, giant otters and giant freshwater fish.

Last week we had the opportunity to stay in the Piranha lodge, which is definitely worth 5/5. The hotel and the view is terrific, the guide is very open and caring and there is a full arranged program. We stayed for 4 days, 3 nights (much recommened due to the longer travel time to come to the Amazone). The guide speaks properly English and makes sure you do not miss out on anything! A friend of mine has a gluten, soy and lactose allergic, and we had the best meals in Ecuador so far!

Little tip: there is a direct bus back from Lago Agrio to Quito for only 20 dollars. Ask your tour guide about the possibilities due to a limited amount of spaces :)

Hi, we stayed at Piranha Lodge in October 2022 and we booked directly with the lodge by whatsapp +593 96 912 3247. The booking team was very responsive and efficient, they also organised a coach from Quito to Lago Agrio. Enjoy your trip as much as we did!
