It is like stepping back in time. The paintings on the ceilings, on the walls. Absolutely beautiful. No elevator but staff carried our luggage. They also, carried it down when we had to go to airport for 4:30 in the morning. Only thing I didnt like is the smell of the place. Probably the dampness from the ocean or the...

Stepping into this hotel is like stepping back in time. The furnishings and decor are quaint and charming. A visual delight. The location on the waterfront make for a wonderfully centralized place to visit the citywide. The problems are small, but should be noted: 1. Long flight of steps to the front door. 2. Inconsistent water pressure and temperature in...

I arrived very late and the driver found the hotel with no problem. It is in a residential neighborhood with cobblestone streets and right on the river. So, if you like to walk, it is very scenic. There are several security checkpoints on this street where there are guards that prevent outsiders from coming in. I liked that. I noted...

Having booked the rooms for the family more than a half a year in advance we ended up in rooms in the rear building. Here the concept of "antique" and "old" are mixed-up: the facilities were just in a bad state; air conditioning, wifi, tv,... not working; bedsprings loud enough to keep one awake all night; the carpet too dirty...

The room, bathroom, hallways, public areas and staircase were immaculate. The table tops were white glove clean (I swiped them to see for myself) and the food presentation was very appealing.

During daytime, vacuum cleaners and staff were busy at work. I am very picky and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, as I said, despite the less than complimentary reviews.

It is an old mansion so it is not stereotypical, chain hotel decor.
