Outstanding in every way-- a quiet oasis away from noise and bad air of the streets, very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful internal garden and terrace, comfortable beds, great breakfasts, and good price.

We arrived here after dark, our driver having gotten a little lost. We pulled up and I thought no way am I staying at a hostel. After confirming we were at the right place we began settling in. Next morning we began to appreciate how delightful Riviera Sucre is, and how well located. Its close to the Main Sq, the ATM, and the market area. Our room was ample sized and shower was excellent. The folks who run RS are great - friendly and helpful. Like most Ecuadorians they seem intent on making sure you have a good time and have good memories.

When we pulled up outside Riviera-Sucre, I wasn't sure if I had booked the right place for us. But from the moment we stepped inside, I was completely taken by the beauty and charm of this little hotel. For starters, the young man at the front desk was simply lovely and the two owners treated us like family right from "hola". The gentleman owner (didn't get his name) even loaned us $20 to pay for our cab ride one day as we didn't have any small bills. Little gestures like that really make a place special. Another special feature is the gorgeous courtyards filled with trees and flowers and places to sit and relax. What's also special is that my husband and I stayed in the "matrimonial suite", which was bright and airy with beautiful high ceilings and its own terrace. We slept very well with all the warm blankets on the bed and after two nights at Riviera-Sucre we left feeling delighted.

Stayed here as part of a group tour. We were allocated room 3, which I can only describe as very very tired and in need of a deep clean and a good coat of paint. Our bathroom was very grubby - stains on walls, damage to the area around the wash basin, a dark green suite, a filthy shower head and a dangerous power point over the wash basin (any plug inserted half hung out). I had to take the mirro off the bathroom wall (it was the only mirror in the room) and temporarily put this in the main bedroom to dry hair safely. The room did not lock from the inside as the catch didn’t work. I believe this room may be classed as an ‘economy’ room, and certainly other members of our group had much newer, better rooms (although some had even worse) Plus points, a comfy bed, OK Wi-fi. A decent breakfast, although coffee very weak.
