Having read some of the reviews we were definitely not disappointed. We had rented a car at the airport and this made our journey easier although we arrived in the dark. What a beautiful rural location just outside Otavalo. Our room was clean and colourful. The staff were charming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and probably the best we... More

My husband, daughter and I spent three wonderful nights at La Luna and I wasn't ready to leave. The setting is wonderful - yes, it's a short taxi drive to Otavalo but if you love nature, isn't that what you want? The mountain scenery is stunning, with a view of two volcanos and lovely rolling hills. I was very impressed... More

We spent two wonderful nights at La Luna. We decided against staying in Otavalo and I'm so glad we did. Other than the market there's not much else to do in Otavalo. The lodge however is less than 10 minutes from the town but in a lovely and secluded place. There are many hours and walks to be done, some... More

Camped in the grounds for several nights whilst visiting the region. Open fire and excellent food food most welcome after a day's hard trekking. The dogs, Freda and Lucy did a great job of keeping the other wild dogs away and kept our girls entertained for hours. Nice little snug with DVD player too - I can only apologise for... More

First impression - it's a long way from town, but (if the weather lets you) the countryside views are nice. Two of the staff are really nice and helpful. The owners could have been a lot more hospitable, but chose to spend time ignoring guest and talking with friends. Room: Our room had a bit of mould on the paintwork... More

We started to stay at La Luna 10 years ago on our first trip to Ecuador, we have stayed here each year, sometimes multiple times, since. Kevin and Tamara are both extremely friendly and have gone out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Once 6 years ago they even picked up a birthday cake for a friend of... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. First, when you are booking, be very careful about which type of room you are booking! I thought I was booking the really nice rooms with private bathrooms and fireplaces. Instead, I booked a tiny room with a shared bathroom (ewwwwww) by mistake and they couldn't (or wouldn't) let me upgrade.... More

My husband, four year old son and I recently stayed at La Luna for eight nights. Originally we had planned to move on a bit sooner, but were there when the two earthquakes (6.7 and 6.8 on May 18th) struck. Having never experienced an earthquake before, it shook us up and gave us pause about heading into Quito for the... More

We cannot say enough good things about La Luna. The location is stunningly beautiful, the staff and owners could not be nicer or more helpful, and they make the best pizzas we have ever had in Ecuador....not to mention other great food. This is a perfect place for families, couples, friends or solo travelers who want to relax and unwind... More

Had a great experience at La Luna. I was travelling around Ecuador on a high school service trip with 15 other students and this was definitely one of the best hostels. The views and grounds were amazing and they have great hammocks overlooking the mountains. Both our dinner and breakfast were amazing and the restaurant was very nice. The staff... More
