The Manava Beach Resort & Spa Moorea nestles on the island shore, just by the village of Maharepa is an ideal location, between the majestic Cook’s Bay and the Moorea Green Pearl Golf Club. It’s very convenient location just 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the ferry terminal, makes it an ideal base to explore the island. Close from the Resort, the Maharepa village offers a selection of boutiques, banks and convenients stores. The style of the resort is a tasteful combination of the traditional and the contemporary with a powerful sense of Polynesia. There are 28 over-water bungalows built over the lagoon on piles, 8 more bungalows on the beach and 28 spread through the beautiful grounds with their own private pludge pools and little gardens. The remaining 18 rooms and 8 duplexes of this 90-unit resort all facing the garden are in a small building. Whichever accommodation you choose, you will have air-conditioned comfort (the bungalows also have ceiling fans), an outside terrace, mini-bar, hairdryer, safe, flat-screen television and WiFi. From your hotel base we will be happy to arrange a full range of exciting excursions and activities and of course you can relax at the resort where you’ll enjoy one of the largest infinity pools of the island. Each bungalow has a sunny outside terrace with comfortable loungers. From the over-water ones, there is direct access to the lagoon. The premium over-water bungalows are especially well situated, close to the coral reef ledge so you can immediately swim off and discover a fascinating world of coloured fish and exotic corals. Near the over-water bungalows, we have developed our own coral nursery- To’A Nui - a coral regeneration project and part of our commitment to protecting the fragile environment that surrounds us. This site encourages the proliferation of marine life whose beauty is so easily enjoyed with simple snorkelling equipment. You will find a luxurious and convivial resort on a human scale, offering a warm welcome to honeymooners, romantic couples, families, nature lovers and scuba-divers. We have two restaurants - The Mahanai for breakfast and dinner and the Autera’a snack and bar with a teracce adjacent to the pool for sipping your favorite beverage. Other facilities include two meeting rooms, a boutique and a full range of activities and excursions both on land and on the water. We also have an on-site dive center and a spa. The Manea Spa specializes in massages and treatments using traditional Polynesian methods and 100% natural products from the island’s flowers and plants, including the famous monoi oils from the coconut palm. The spa has a hammam, jacuzzi and the "Rumi Avai" where you can discover the pleasures of our unique aquatic massages.

We spent a week at Manava during our first trip to Tahiti. The resort is beautiful and the views are spectacular. The rooms are nice and bed is comfortable. The lobby staff, Activities Desk and Gift Shop staff were very nice and helpful. The onsite restaurant was just ok. Prices were similar to elsewhere on the island but the quality of the food wasn’t great and neither was the service. We ate there several times and we had to get up and find someone at least once per meal to order food, find out where our food was, order drinks/refills or get the check. The drinks in the bar are very expensive (about $20 each) but they are strong! Some things we wish we had known ahead of time: There were lots of kids when we were there. We are all for kids having fun, but we also wanted to be able to relax by the pool without the screaming and being splashed. Had we known we may have made a different choice of hotel. There is no water available other than bottled ($4.50 each) except at breakfast. There are ice machines for guests but no water refill stations. If you get drinks out by the pool they are served in very thin paper cups so they get warm quickly and the seams dissolve. Bring an insulated cup (we had our yetis) for pool drinks or ice water. We walked to the store several times for bottles of water, wine and other snacks. However the refrigerator in the room is pretty small so it doesn’t hold much. Also, amenities in the room were limited: only shampoo and body wash in the shower (we had to go to the store to buy conditioner and a bar of soap) and they only give you 4 espresso pods and one bottle of water for the room for the whole stay. If you want more coffee pods you have to buy them in the restaurant for $3.50 each. We did look at the store and they didn’t have the correct type for the coffee maker. My husband and I watched the sunrise with coffee the first two mornings and wondered why they weren’t being replaced and were then surprised to find out it was an extra charge. We still had a great time and look forward to a return trip to Tahiti!

The hotel offers overwater bungalows with fabulous snorkeling right off the deck. The location is in walking distance of shopping. The rooms are cleaned and refreshed two times a day with fresh linens and beautiful flowers with great showers. There is an espresso machine in the room and a breakfast buffet is included. The infinity pool is a lovely place to relax and the grounds are well maintained. It was a delight to spend time in the spa for a massage. There is also a dock next door where you can sign up for local water activities and the WiFi was great.

We stayed in this small, neat resort upon recommendation from our travel agent. Location is one of the biggest advantages of this resort. It is close to the airport and car rental companies. The staff has been extremely nice and helpful. Check-in/check-out process was quick and simple. The room was spacious and had nice bathroom, TV and AC. Beds were comfortable. Pool is large enough and offers nice view. Resort has 3 small beaches with shallow water that you can only wade in. It is full of beautiful fishes. If you want to swim you have to go under over-water bungalows, where it becomes very deep. There is a lot of broken corals on the beaches, so we recommend water shoes. We stayed in garden view bungalow for 3 persons and have paid CAD 4500.00 for 5 nights. Food is not included. We have not tried resort restaurants, but we did check the prices, and they are high. Probably double the price of those in Canada. There are bank, convenience stores and beach bar at walking distance from resort. The resort is very quiet. Music is only heard around beach bar. You cannot hear it even around the pool. There are no entertainers, either. So, it is much different from Caribbean resorts vibe. When we asked what is the reason for this, we were told that guests want it that way. We were not bothered by this, as we came to explore the nature and did not spend much time in a resort, anyway. Also, given the time difference of 4 hrs, we were quite sleepy around 8-9PM. So, in conclusion we would recommend this resort. We do not have anything bad to say. It is pricey, but this is French Polynesia, and everybody planning to come here should be prepared to pay big bucks.

We were very disappointed with the service provided by this hotel, which lowered the quality of its services while increasing its prices. This is the 4th or 5th time that we have rented premium overwater rooms in this establishment and I find that the stinginess is becoming unacceptable in this establishment. Check-in at 3:00 p.m. instead of 2:00 p.m. because the room is not ready. Billing 1500 xpf for room delivery of 3 beers at 900 xpf per beer!!! The 1/2 liter bottle of water for 2 only offered on the first night, no water for the second night... No coffee cartridges for the second night, only for the first... Otherwise, see room service and the 1500 xpf that goes with it!!! We have one night left to stay here and it is definitely the last one I will spend in this establishment. The breakfast buffet is sad to cry with pieces of stale bread and charred balcony. I have just had reception with whom I explained all these concerns and it seems normal... No late check-out granted either, when things go wrong, they go wrong!!! I am absolutely not satisfied with this "last stay for us, definitely" The abuse and stinginess of the management of this establishment despite rising occupancy rates, profitability and prices is simply unacceptable. The beauty of the site is not everything, especially since the Hilton and the Sofitel have locations that are also or even more beautiful than yours. I worked for 5 years in the hotel industry in Tahiti as a technical director, so participating in the management committee and our mode of operation had nothing to do with each other. I strongly advise against this establishment which makes fun of its customers and abuses them...

Service was absolutely terrible. Staff was not attentive, entirely unresponsive and essentially non existent. We stayed here for our HONEYMOON. We paid for a villa with a private pool. We had ants on our pillow and by the coffee machine and the outside door was “locked” by a rock because it didn’t close properly. The hotel does not offer transportation from the airport or port so you have to organize your own car or try to get a taxi (there are only 42 on the entire island). The check in process has you waiting around in the lobby until 2pm by yourself. Room service did not replace towels, throw out trash or provide new water. As someone who is very conscious of conserving towels when I can and only asking for replacements when necessary this was extreme irritating. When we asked the front desk if we could have a bottle of water they told they only provide one free bottle of water PER STAY. Not per night. Not per person. One bottle of water per stay. Trying to order more than one drink at happy hour (which goes from 5pm-7pm) is impossible because the staff never comes to your table. And when my *new* husband went to ask concierge about a specific lotion for sun burn, they told him concierge was closed… even though they were literally sitting at the concierge desk. After pleading with them, they wound up giving him the wrong information anyway and he had to go to the store twice to buy a different cream.
The only positives about this place are the dive shop located on the premise and the random show we had at dinner one night (it was not on the schedule in the lobby).
If you’re looking to spend a decent amount of money on a cheap stay then this is your place. But if you’re looking for quality service, then stay anywhere else.

Ia Orana Laura, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered, especially during your honeymoon. Your experience with our service and room amenities was not up to the standard we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointment. Regarding the towels, we have a note in each room explaining our sustainable policy to reduce water consumption by changing towels upon request. For bottled water, we currently provide one complimentary bottle upon arrival to minimize plastic waste, but we understand your frustration. We’re actively working to improve this policy, and we do provide filtered, drinkable tap water in all rooms for your convenience. We also appreciate your positive remarks about our dive shop and the evening entertainment, as well as your valuable insights, which we are already using to enhance our service. Thank you again, and we hope you might consider staying with us again in the future to experience our improvements. Kind regards,

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The location itself is beautiful but the service is terrible from start to finish. Day one they immediately charged us for an extra night and when we told them they did not believe us we had to show proof multiple times that it was on our credit card. Service is terrible at all the restaurants on site. Prepare to wait a long time for anything u need, food was cold and if I needed anything I had to get up and ask. We are there for four nights five days, our room was cleaned one time. We had to go to the front desk on multiple occasion to ask for towels, we even had to ask for toilet paper because our room was never restocked. When I told the front desk about our experience she said “oh well and shrugged her shoulders”! Also know that everytime you order anything there is a service charge for the staff and the facility that they don’t tell you about till the end. I would not recommend staying here at all.

Ia Orana, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the mistake regarding the extra night charged to your credit card. As you mentioned, there was indeed an error on our part. However, we would like to clarify that our Front Desk Manager met with you the very next day, and the refund was processed promptly without further discussion. We regret to hear about the other issues you encountered during your stay, especially with the restaurant service and housekeeping. This does not reflect the level of service we aim to provide, and we will be addressing these matters with our team to ensure improvements are made. We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to provide the quality experience that we are known for.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in Moorea. The structure is well looked after and offers various services (including spa, excursions, kayaks, free sun cream on the beach). The rooms are spacious but, in the case of a room overlooking the sea, I recommend the premium ones as they are located in the last row and have a privileged sea view (wonderful sunset and sunrise). The Wi-Fi service could be significantly improved. The somewhat sore point is the quality of the sea. The water is undoubtedly clean but it is not what one imagines to find in Polynesia. In Moorea there are facilities located in areas with undoubtedly clearer seas. The quality of the food is good but not excellent. Another sore point are the cocktails (little alcohol and very, very sweet). Very high prices (like everything in the area). Opposite the hotel there is a restaurant that cooks excellent meat at lower prices than the hotel restaurant and is certainly an alternative worth considering for dinner. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful but the bar service (a little slow) could be improved.

So happy we were able to get a last minute Beach Bungalow at this quaint French Polynesian Resort that is in the perfect location on Moorea Island. We are so glad we shortened our stay at Tahiti as it was pretty much a pool side vacation, spending a bit more was well worth it‼️ At Manava, we snorkel from our room, saw a sea turtle and pretty much every other fish in the ocean, went kayaking with Resort equipment and had perfect views of the sunrise and sunset. We even saw a shark fin in the water in front of our Bungalow waiting for the sunrise this morning, incredible! The infinity pool is great and the beach on either side is wonderful. It is quiet and you feel like you have the resort all to yourself! The Ke’iki restaurant down the street has the best food and dessert! Resort cocktails great, breakfast and dinner buffets OK, not everything can be superb. But this has been the highlight of our 35 day Oceania Down-Under Tour of Fiji, Australia, New Zealand (Queenstown was a highlight as well!) and Tahiti. Car rentals available at resort or across the street, we used Alberts, it took a little over an hour and a half to drive the island and we saw so many beautiful spots that we did half the drive again after stopping at the public beach and having lunch and snorkeling. Recommended tip, when you land in Tahiti go to the grocery store mall next to the Hilton and stock up on French Wine, Cheese, Pate, Meats, Baguettes, Ceackers and Fruit, then get on the ferry to Moorea and enjoy your drinks and treats on your Bungalow deck or sandwiches for lunch at the Beach! 😉 Marquesa greeted us with lemonade and provided a tour of the property and Benjamin and John were great with providing beautiful tangerine colored towels, snorkel gear, and non-motorized beach equipment. The room cleaning staff was amazing, they made our room looks so beautiful with turn down service as well☺️Excursion tour coordination available on-site as well as modernized paddle boards and floating bikes! Everything you need is here!

Very happy with our very pleasant stay in this beautiful hotel on a human scale.
The staff is welcoming and attentive. We had a lovely evening with Polynesian and Hawaiian music and dancing as well as a delicious buffet. We also enjoyed the beef on the restaurant's menu. The swimming pool is very pleasant.
We stayed in a room for 3 nights, with a small balcony with a garden view. Which did not prevent us from enjoying the beautiful view of the stilts and the sunrises and sunsets. The staff was also responsive to eradicate the little ants in the bathroom upon our arrival and came to kill the cockroach from the last evening with a heroic sweep of the broom!
A big thank you to all the staff.

The resort seemed much older and smaller than I expected. The overwater bungalow was the most expensive room I have ever booked (over $1000/per night) so I was really expecting to be blown off my feet. While the view is lovely, the room seemed a little old. The staff seemed a bit over extended and the food at the restaurants were our biggest complaint. The pool is great but the beach is very small and right on top of the bungalows. The location is nice because you can walk in to a sort of town, but I think I would have been happier staying at the hilton, on the other side of the island closer to boating and other day activities.

Ia Orana Carol, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not fully meet your expectations, especially considering the premium experience we aim to offer in our overwater bungalows. While we’re glad you appreciated the beautiful view and our pool, we regret that the room and dining experience fell short of what you anticipated. Regarding your comments about the property, we understand your concerns and are continuously working on maintaining and updating our facilities to enhance the guest experience. We were there in August and had no problem booking last minute activities. The desk at the hotel is very helpful and we actually booked a jet ski tour at the rental company directly across the street from Manava!
Oh my god the snorkeling by Manava is amazing! We had an OWB near the middle of the resort/water line. We could see black tip sharks swim by every morning! It was like they were on their way to work for the day. Just beneath the bungalows is a shelf that drops to about 35 feet deep then a gradual slope as you get out to sea. The whole area is protected by a barrier reef so the water is always calm. We saw so much amazing sea life right next to our bungalow, and in the beach areas too. We even saw spotted Eagle rays mating right in front of us! There are hundreds of tiny bright blue fish right by the coral there and a moral eel “lived right next to the ladder to our private “dock.” Manava was not cheap, but definitely a trip with memories for a lifetime. I highly recommend this location. Great amenities, great staff, epic sea life. But the food at the resort was over priced and just ok. There is a “permanent” food truck directly next door and across the street that are great and reasonably priced.
There are more places to choose from in the Maharepa area.
