Not impressed with the hotel compared to other places we stayed in Guatemala, but should be a really nice place compared to other hotels in the area from what we've heard. Helpful staff. They don't speak much english, but somehow we suceeded understanding each other...More
We stayed one night. All local people told us this was the best hotel in town, and they where right.
Hot water, clean room, nice bed, descent internet connection (wifi).
The place is beautiful and quiet, cause it is just outside the town.
Very basic hotel. Room very rudimentary, simple furniture. Sanitary equipment clean but also very basic. For one night ok. Good location to visit the sinter terraces. We stayed here with a travel group.
The hostel is located right on the river and near the bus station, where all the buses in and out of town go. They have a good Semuc Champey tour, but be careful of scams when on the tour, always ask the price. They have...More
After failing to find our hotel in town, we back tracked and found this gem in the forest. This is a basic Mayan rustic hotel. The rooms are clean but do not have any amenities. There is a restaurant with good food. The staff does...More

Hello Martin! I think that it's a very interesting area and it's worthy to go: Semuc Champey is cool, a great activity for half a day. If you only do this, you need a day in the area (a night and a day). I recommemd to go to Semuc Champey early, so this way you avoid the hords of people coming up from Coban in a day trip (you could also do that, but you'll arrive late and won't enjoy the pools that much). What else you can do? You can visit the Lanquin Caves (with many many bats) and then do some rafting (depending on the season). My advice would be to spend a night there and after Semuc Champey head up to Cobán. I wouldn't give it much more time. Anyway, the pools are gorgeous so I wouldn't think twice about going there! Enjoy your trip!
