Hubby and I visited Guava Grill at Guava Grove Villas and Resort for lunch on a late Sunday afternoon. Cheryl, the owner, graciously allowed our dog to sit with us so we selected a table away from other patrons (although the tables are already spaced for social distancing). We decided to visit based on the sign at the street advertising the chicken and waffle special. You’ll easily find the resort and restaurant after a short drive off the main street. Parking is available near the restaurant and pool area. Guava Grill is the resort’s restaurant and it’s also open to visitors. A purchase of food or alcohol allows access to the pool area. The pool area was well maintained and the swim-up bar looked so enticing! The dining area is open-air under a covered roof that provided shade and is surrounded by beautiful flowers. The entire grounds are lovely and I enjoyed the flowers. I had the chicken and waffle special and fries and hubby had a cheeseburger. Both were delicious with ample portions. We also had drinks, with and without alcohol. The banana smoothies were amazing! They also offered water for our dog, which was very thoughtful. The bill came to $40USD. The prices are listed in Lempira, for example, the chicken and waffles were L250 or about $10USD, but the staff will provide USD prices if you aren’t sure. They accepted cash and credit cards. The owner, Cheryl, was a pleasure to talk with about life on the island and life in general. She takes genuine pride in her resort and ensures that the day-to-day operations will create a perfect experience for her guests and visitors. We talked with a repeat guest who spoke very highly of his experiences staying at the resort for many years. We also met Alex, Cheryl’s right-hand-man. He served our food and made our drinks and was a pleasure to talk with. We enjoyed the food, company, and relaxed atmosphere of Guava Grill and highly recommend it. I hope you enjoy the photos I shared. Be sure to read the reviews of my other Roatan adventures and see pics of my island pup! *Thank you for reading my review! Please click the “thumbs-up” below. :)

In January spent a week at the Guava and found their prices reasonable and their service outstanding. The rooms were spacious and clean and each had a kitchen area, although we were not into cooking so just ate at the hotel restaurant were the food was cooked to our desires and always served with a smile. The hotel shuttle was always available and the maximum cost of a trip was $15 so we did not even bother with the rental of a car. There were other restaurants also within easy walking distance. There are also frequent taxis going by every few minutes. The pool was clean and comfortable. The Resort sets up on a hill, so when doing a walk about, I really hated the steep (but short) walk up the driveway. The ocean was just a few blocks away. The beach wasn't the West end sandy beach but was adequate and a pleasant walk. If we took a water fairy back to the hotel the fairy would drop us off about a 3 block walk away from the hotel. In all, an enjoyable and quiet relaxing stay.

We were staying with Cheryl at Guava Grove when COVID19 hit and Honduras closed its borders. We were thankful to be in a place that was like a paradise while the world around us was going crazy. Cheryl and team maintained a sense of "normal" for us, continued to have great meals at the restaurant, and we had all the needed supplies. She even looked after us getting back to the airport to catch a flight home to Canada. This is a wonderful little resort, secluded enough to allow you some quiet around the wonderful pool, while just a short walk to the beach to enjoy some snorkeling. Rooms are clean, with AC and wifi. Property is gorgeous. Looking forward to going back to enjoy the full beauties of this place.

From the moment the owner, Cheryl Grant, picked us up from the airport, she made us feel welcome. The small boutique resort is beautiful, with all the flora and fauna, a warm and friendly restaurant /bar/gathering place and the fantastic pool. We stayed in the main (house) on the ground floor. Our room had a bedroom with large windows, allowing a beautiful breeze to help put us to sleep. The bed was very comfortable. We also had an open kitchen and sitting area. The bathroom had a great shower with rain showerhead. Everything was very clean! Jennie, our cook, made delicious breakfasts and lunches. Cheryl cooked up the most delicious dinners which we enjoyed with her and other guests. We were like a large family, sharing many laughs. Alex, was a jack of all trades, from helping in the bar and kitchen and tour guide. He took us on a fantastic snorkeling trip, pointing out many sea life that we would have missed. He also took us on a island tour and arranged a tour of the mangroves. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, we had to cut our holiday short. Cheryl was very conscience of what was going on and put safety protection steps in place right away. Would we go again - you bet! Brian & Sue

Cheryl Grant is a super kind , caring, fun and efficient owner/host.Going out of her way to help her guests is an understatement. We lost our passports and she helped up look , drove us to airport. When we were denied flying out she took us to French Harbour to file a police report. She and her great assistant /driver Alex stayed with us to interpret, which took several hours. She assisted in getting paperwork required sent off to Consulate; then arrived a fantastic driver to accompany us around Tecguchulpa where the Consulate is. A room at Guava Grove is guaranteed upon our return to Roatan . Guava Grove is set in a lovely hilltop garden property. The rooms are clean and have ensuite baths plus small kitchen area. We enjoyed the pool. Cheryl's breakfasts are wonderfully delicious.Indeed all meals are. Fresh local ingredients are used in all meals. Cheryl goes our of her way to make her guests feel at home and introduces everyone so by the end of your first hour at Guava Grove you have made new friends! Monday she hosted a group of 30 plus and had live music and a special menu. What a party🤣 My partner Scott and I would assuredly return and recommend Guava Grove Villas with confidence.

It was my pleasure to help you during a stressful situation. I was relieved that my driver and good friend in Tegucigalpa was a great connection. The bonus was having you both with me a couple of added days to settle it all. We all look forward to your return trip to Guava Grove. You are my kind of people!
