I stayed in a fan bungalow here, which we got for 600Baht in the low season after a lot of hard bargaining. The room was fine, but not that clean. The view was incredible, and there was a hammock and chair on the balcony. The staff were quite unhelpful and most of the time we past the reception the staff...

We booked 4nights at this place online with Kotaoisland.net since the hotel didn't have it's own website. We paid a deposit of 20% and were quoted 3500 ThB per night for a four bed family bungalow with airconditioning It was recommended in Lonely Planet. The price seemed expensive but it is a touristy area and we thought we were paying...

Nice looking resort (the stairs with all the bottles thy built in...).The view is perfect from the bungalows´ nice veranda (hammock included). The bungalow itself is clean and practical. the pricing is bit too high. Not all of the meals in the restaurant are good and too expensive as well (our best choice was the poseidon restaurant on the opposite...

The only redeeming feature this hotel is the location. It has the best views of Ao Tanote bay that has excellent snorkeling and swimming in a quiet location on the island. Do not cross Ao Tanote off your list as it was my favourite place on the East coast islands however do not stay here- be warned.... I have backpacked...

Value for money was terrible as it was quite an expensive room. Never got cleaned, staff seemed mostly off and disorganised (not like Thais!), food was average, facilities were poor (ie drip for a shower). ON the other hand the location is beautiful and you get a sea view, the beach is nice and the snorkeling is on your doorstep....

Good points: great location with amazing views, beach is just there (with some shaded spots if needed) and you can just snorkel off. Might not suit someone looking for a nightlife etc...but 3 or 4 other restaurants on the beach to vary a little. Negative points: -the staff was rather lunatic. We booked a family room (had 2 double beds)...

My opinion is divided.. . Advantages: - really beautiful location - views, surroundings and etc.; - very nice beach with good area for snorkelling Disavantages: - too remoted from EVERYTHING! (except the sea :-) ) NO ONE shop ore area to walk on evenings, but taxi-cars is very expensive -from 400 TB ! (I've heard about taxi-boats, which more cheaper,...

Amazing views, friendly staff, comfortable (basic) rooms. Only negatives were the remote location and below average food. Unless willing to get a taxi to the busier part of the island don't expect to leave the hotel.

This is the place to stay in the breathtaking beautiful Tanote Bay. I had a room on the hill, overlooking the entire little bay with a balcony that ensured hours of gazing. Tanote Bay is small, and there are not a lot of options for eating or anything else, so you sometimes have to pay what they charge you for...

We stayed in this hotel for 4nights, we really enjoyed it ! Staff is friendly, very helpful and always smiling. Room was quite basic, "cold" water (as in most of the hotels on thai islands for this price), but the view was amazing, couldn't have better view. Had 3 windows, all overlooking the sea. At night, only thing we could...

“All the bungalows are different. Theres lots of steps so if you dont want to hike up alot of steps, you can always ask for a room close to the beach. There is bungalows right on the beach. I was halfway up the hill and I had a total knee replacement. When I made it to my sundeck, it was always worth it. I didnt need AC. I had a great fan and the seabreeze blew right through my room. The bungalows are nice. It is Thailand. I recommend reading a short blurb or two on Thai and Burmese people, there customs. There very easy going people. Unfortunately for them that work in the tourist business, they are confronted with disgruntled, complaining, loud people constantly. We all could learn something from there "take it easy" style of life.”

“Make sure to look at the room before you pick it -- we had room 24, which was probably the best on the whole damn island as far as views go. Some of the rooms were blocked by trees, however.”

“Bungalows at beach are mainly for 4p..smaller ones higher up against the hill. Be very specific when you call them. You could end up in bungalow high on the hill, with many stairs. Prices can hardly be negotiated, You need to pay in advance, so make sure you have enough cash with you since there is nothing nearby. Email is unreliable and not an option to communicate.”
