We stayed in a beautiful room with a breathtakingly stunning view over the beach. The view was equally as stunning from our bed as well as the balcony. We loved the small 'jungle' backdrop to the room. Very unusual and very pretty. We did find the air conditioning a tad noisy and there was a lack of storage space in both the bedroom and the bathroom. As the rest of the room was so stunning, we could overlook that though.

For us, it was perfectly located for snorkelling, which we did most days and also for the beach which was just a quick ride away in the courtesy boat. The beach was reasonably quiet and was beautiful. The trees along the length of the beach also provide some shade from the sun.

No review of this resort could be complete without a mention of the steps. Yes, there were lots of them. I counted over 130 (steep) steps from our room to the swimming pool and more if we continued onto the restaurant, but we were well aware that they would be there prior to booking and for us, were absolutely not a problem. In fact, we quite enjoyed our workout going up and down them (my butt has never looked so toned!) and the views all the way along the steps were just so picturesque.

As a regular and avid swimmer I was impressed by the swimming pool. It was a good size for swimming lengths or for a splash around and again was set in stunning surroundings overlooking the beach. I personally didn't use the spa or fitness area, but my spouse did and was very impressed with it.

We loved the quirkyness of the resort too; it all felt very original.

Breakfast was included in our stay and there was always a good variety of choices to eat from international cuisine through to traditional Thai. One tiny gripe for me was that I'm intolerant to dairy milk and the only soya milk available had powdered dairy milk added to it! I got around this by using coconut milk which was then provided upon request. We had several light lunches and evening meals in the restaurant and around the pool area too and all without exception, were extremely delicious and of an extremely high quality. The menu is extensive.

We found all staff to be extremely friendly, helpful and polite. We loved the resident cat and bird too!

The stunning location does come with a price though and that is the resort is placed at the top of a very winding, steep, hilly road. I did walk down it once, but I wouldn't particularly advise it in the heat. Alternatively, there is a courtesy shuttle provided for getting in and out of the town or you can use the local taxi service (expensive) or hire a scooter or motorbike. We personally used the shuttle or the taxi, but you do need to hang on tight!

Overall, we loved this resort and would definitely return here again.

Me and my partner have just spent 2 weeks at this hotel initially staying in the deluxe double with sea view and the room and view were amazing. The hotel is certainly 5 star, clean and uncrowded. We always found a sunbed whatever time of the day around the pool and the private beach had hardly anyone using it. The bay is lovely and the snorkeling great here. The staff were friendly and professional. The big plus is the location and the fact that they provide a free shuttle service to the local town at Mae Haad a few times a day meaning no expensive taxis and the ability to go out and explore and try the many fabulous thai restaurants. The breakfast was fantastic catering for just about any taste. For our last couple of days we upgraded to a bungalow which provided an extra special end to our holiday. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel! The only slight negative was the cost of the evening meals at the hotel. We ate there once and it cost around £90 for starters, a main for 2 with one bottle of wine. I have to say however the food was fabulous. However the lunches are reasonable and there is a happy hour on cocktails from 3 to 5pm. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This resort is lovely. Perfect rly located cliff side with gorgeous sunrises and fair ocean breezes. The staff are all friendly and the buffet is plentiful albeit slight variations. I stayed before in 2010 and now again this year. 8 nights this time. The bathrooms are a bit gaudy but hot and good pressure showers( no hot water at sink).

The internet is good enough for social media if you wish but the WiFi isn’t reliable enough for ongoing laptop work. It dropped and was inconsistent when choosing, even strong signal amongst the many routers on floors. Poolside and at breakfast the WiFi is more powerful.

I was working and needed a bit more but it is Koh Tao and quite remote so take it with a grain of salt and stay here for pleasure.

The location is remote so walking to anything other then boulder entry into the ocean or one very nice restaurant some 15 minutes up 45 degree incline roads is what you have. I’d say medium skill motorbike experience is required or just use the resorts taxi at their pre-programmed times.

With a motorbike you can explore the whole island and you’ll have the luxury of doing things on your time.

Value-wise. 3000 baht a night is good. There are some other options that would be nice to try at that price level but this resort is consistent and breathtaking.

The reef and snorkeling has deteriorated.

The hotel is very special in design and has A LOT of stairs so be prepared. I counted approximately 154 stairs to get from room to breakfast. You can’t avoid the stairs, climbing is needed anywhere you go and in the heat that is surprisingly tough to do.

The room had a big balcony facing the ocean, amazing views. Quite basic room, a bit oldish in a way but overall clean and neat. Effective AC.

The hotel is quite remote and you need a taxi to go anywhere from it. There is free shuttle service to the pier and back three times a day and for other times private taxi which was 400 TBH one way.

If you want to catch the sunrise or sunset, prepare to take a taxi to another beach, you won’t see them from this location.

Breakfast had toast and cereal etc. basic stuff and a seperate list to order pancakes and eggs from, also included in it.

We rented a kayak for four hours from the hotel and that was 300 TBH and worth it, water was so clear and it was nice light sport to do during day time. It was also possible to rent equipment for snorkeling. In the hotel there were quite a few divers and diving activity also.

When we arrived we were absolutely delighted about the view and the nice room. We booked a 2 bedroom villa which has an ingredible view, a nice small plunge pool, living room, dining area with fully equipped kitchen and 2 bedrooms/bathrooms. The villa is really nicely decorated. That was what we loved there. BUT.... when we arrived we didn't feel welcomed at all. Coming from a boat ride and taxi trip not even a glas of water was offered during waiting time. People were not really friendly. Cleaning stuff even did not say hello to us when they entered the room. The Western food in the restaurant is really, really good. But the Thai food was not. Being the only guests for breakfast and dinner we expected that people take care of us. For breakfast we were not asked for a 2nd coffee etc. Never been asked if the food is ok. When we were at the pool, nobody stopped asking if everything is allright. We never have seen any responsible person during 5 days and 4 nights. The confirmed pick up at the ferry didn't work. Nobody was there. I called the hotel 6 times. Nobody picked up the phone. We paid 500 Baht for the taxi. After complaining at the hotel they reimbursed us the money. It is really a pity that the hotel has such a lousy service, because the hotel has a nice location. The snorkeling was disappointing in front of the hotel. All corals are dead there.... Beware, the hotels has a lot of steps - like many other on Koh Tao. We will not come back.

This hotel is absolutely stunning and our deluxe bungalow was gorgeous. Big, clean with spectacular views to wake up to. I mean words can’t explain how pretty it was. The staff and service was all top notch and I can be pretty picky.

My two issues and why 4 instead of 5 stars:
1) Dinner at Restaurant- for a top notch place they need a better dinner. I’m a big seafood eater and I ordered the whole fish. It was steamed and that’s about it. Zero flavor. Now breakfast was very good though.
2) Shuttle service - they had a few shuttle options during the day, but no midday service. There was one at 1 and then not again until 6! The resort is a little farther from town (which I wanted), but I wish there were more shuttles. For a couple that doesn’t want to risk motorbike injuries it’s pretty expensive to get to/from areas (ie 500 to 600 baht).

The breakfast was excellent! Breakfeast buffe including egg meny were you could order wich eggs or pancakes you prefer. The hotel was beautiful with nice seaside view. There is no beach within walking distance. The location is a little tricky since its up a big hill with bad roads. Its more expensive than some of the other hotels on the island but you are getting what you are paying for. Great food, excellent service, nice rooms! You need to rent a scouter you cannot Walk to/from hotel from town. Taxi was 400bath from the piere.

Lovely resort, we stayed in one of the villas with pool.
We absolutely loved our room. It had an amazing breathtaking view of the bay.
The staff is also amazing and super attentive.
Room and resort are kept super clean.
Location is fantastic, you have easy access to shark bay and can basically snorkel to your heart content.
I found the food to be very bland and pricey on the first day so we decided to eat out everyday.
We had soo many options and it’s super cheap to eat great food in Thailand. We didn’t have one bad meal!
One thing to improve is the gym, we both found it way too small and with very limited equipment.
We will definitely come back as we absolutely loved the resort but wouldn’t stay more than 3 days because of the gym (we both train regularly so it’s a must for us to have a good gym).
Yes, there’s loads of stairs but I think that is part of the beauty and peculiarity of the resort. It did not bother us one bit.

This resort is wonderful for anyone looking to have total chill during the day, wonderful scenery, lovely staff and the best snorkelling. That’s what we were after and we have LOVED it.

I Was quite concerned after reading some reviews that facilities at the resort would be really limited, pleased to say that’s no longer the case.
The restaurant is open for 3 hours at breakfast, 3.5 hours for lunch and 3.5 hours for dinner.
The pool bar was also open whenever we visited and had happy hour 5-6.
The gym is open during the daytime (I admit due to all the swimming I haven’t been)
The spa and diving centre/trips are closed, but there’s obviously a vast amount of options for that in town.

I’d suggest getting an update via the mobile number at the foot of the website which responds to WhatsApp.

There is a free return shuttle down to the pier 3 times a day. If you miss that it’s 400 baht by taxi.
The approach road isn’t good for a nervous scooter user.

There isn’t a nice private beach at the moment. It’s obvious that like much of Thai tourism, the hotel has suffered due to Covid. Many hotels have closed down, but fortunately Jamahkiri is still going. They are clearly not in a position yet to refurbish the beach area, but the pool has really majestic views across the bay.

There are still steps at the private beach area which are a GREAT place to launch yourself into the sea for snorkelling. We saw turtles and sharks regularly just beside the hotel, and this bay is praised as one of the best on the island.

If you want to lounge on a beach then the neighbouring one is 3 minutes on scooter and STUNNING, or I’m sure the shuttle bus would drop you nearby. Also there is a resort at that beach which has a restaurant open all day should you need it.
We walked there via a small side passage immediately left out of the hotel which took 10 minutes, but then had to wade through some shallow sea to reach the beach. The beach is totally worth it.

The restaurant at the hotel served wonderful dinner. Best Larb and massamam we have had, and we tend to dine at small authentic Thai spots.

I really do recommend this place. The views and snorkelling alone are worth it.

First, the place is fantastic, the design is exceptional and the luxury is noticeable.
The main problem is the number of stairs you must go through when passing through resort grounds. The second problem is the location of the resort, it's a beautiful location but it's stuck in the middle of nowhere and requires a shuttle or bike to get to anywhere interesting on the island.
From my brother's room (villa #3), it takes 270 stairs (counted it myself) to get to the reception and 120 stairs to get to my room (#8), really, after the walk from the villa to the reception I was already sweaty and exhausted.

Pros:
* Amazing view from the balconies
* Very high-quality rooms
* Pool / Spa
* Wifi coverage in the room
* comfortable bad
* Diving store (ISS only) inside the resort
* Free taxi to town a few times a day
* There's good food in the resort restaurant
* The villas are large and fine and some of them contain a private infinity pool
* The rooms are very clean and smell great
* You get new towels and a bottle of water every day

Cons:
* The number of stairs
* The location of the resort requires some kind of transport when going anywhere as it's located in a very high spot and to walk that distance is not fun
* Some of the staff personnel are not so friendly, also the shuttle driver is not friendly
* The wifi in the room could be better
* There's not enough light in the room
* The floor in the rooms is super slippery
* When turning off the light in the room for the night, it also cuts the power in the sockets, so if you connected your phone to the power outlet to get charged during the night - the phone doesn't get charged
* The resort taxi/shuttle can seat up to 10 people, but 15 people were packed instead of getting another shuttle
* There's a smell of sewers in the evening all around the resort compound

Hi! They don't have accés to the beach, only views to the sea. If you want to go they send you to the one of the closest hotel, where you have to pay even if you just lay your towel there.

Everything at the hotel is very reasonably priced and also amazing quality food. If you want to go anywhere, there is a complimentary car service. We really just enjoyed the peacefulness & stayed most of the time at the hotel.
