Ban's Diving Resort is often celebrated for its excellent location, close to beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, though access may at times be challenging. The resort boasts a lively atmosphere, complete with live music and entertaining diving courses, though the beachside revelry can lead to some noisy nights. Diving enthusiasts and general guests alike commend the professional dive instructors and the friendly staff, despite occasional lapses in service. While the rooms offer a variety of experiences, from the bustle of entertainment to more serene settings uphill, attention to cleanliness and maintenance is sometimes needed. The resort's amenities, including multiple pools and dining options, consistently receive high marks, as does the overall value, particularly for guests partaking in diving packages, though some have encountered unexpected charges.

We went to Bans due to our Open Water Dive Course. We stayed at the Deluxe Hilltop, which I can highly recommend as well as the dives (we did ours with Mario, it was great!). The room was cleaned and our complimentary waters renewed everyday. Bans had several pools, some of them are used for Diving lessons from time to time, but they have 4, so just relax on one of the others or best: go to the beach!
Also they have their own rain water pond as we learned and try to get rid of plastic, so at the restaurant you get metal straws. The restaurant is directly on the beach and we could choose from a huge variety of breakfast menus. The location on the beach was great. We highly recommend this place!

I can't begin to explain how much I enjoyed my stay at Bans and my Diving course. I did the open water course, advanced open water and Rescue course with Bans and had such a fun time.
My instructor for the OW and AOW was Darren, and he was absolutely amazing - he made the course engaging and interesting, and also knew how to keep it light - I haven't laughed so much in a long time! He was also super caring of all of his students - and knew how to tailor the course to the inviduals personal needs. I am forever grateful for the passion for diving he helped me to find, and sincerely reccomend him to anyone who's planning to do the Open water and Advanced Course with Bans.
For my Rescue course, I was taught by a very kind, funny and knowledgeable instructor named Carsten. Again, there was just the right amount of laughing and learning, and I had seriously good fun.
Besides the great courses that Bans offers, the resort is clean, luxurious and offers lots of things to do. There are four pools, one of which has a cafe next to it (super nice to head down to for a sunbathe and a coffee after diving) and nice restaurant with friendly staff who work very hard.
The reception staff were also super friendly and accomodating, and they organised a shuttle bus (free of charge) to take me back to the pier.
Therlaundry service for a good price, you can hire scooters to take you round koh tao, there are multiple bans 24 hour shops around the resort, and there is even a little salon on site where you can go to get your nails done or hair cut; bans offers it all.
My room was cleaned everyday and had everything you needed in it, and the aircon worked well. It's worth noting that you get these rooms at a discounted price if you do the diving courses with bans.
Overall I am super happy with my stay and will never forget my time there!
Thank you, Bans :)

I've completed my PADI Advance!
I have chosen the Bans Resort (recommended by my daugther) to have my Advance Open Water Certificate. I was very happy to get an upgrade to a luxury room and get an even bigger discount for combining diving courses at Bans. In short, there are only happy, warm and helpful employees at Bans.
I am very fortunate that I met Anthony Griffith as an instructor for my AOW. He is an amazing person, energetic, entertaining and really loves what he does. He is very professional, he knows how to prepare divers for the reality, and I felt 100% safe diving with him.
I will definitely come back with my family for more advanture and enjoy the island's fascinating dive sites.
I recomend the night diving with Anthony, he has a nice suprise!

Excellent service! Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean and tidy. Maids are very good at cleaning and arranging things in the room when we request a make up the room. Highly recommend and we will come back again for sure!

We are not divers but we chose this resort because it had the option of using several pools and we were not disappointed.
The swimming pools are fantastic with comfortable sun beds, showers etc. Some are for divers only.
Good location, Nr beach and restaurants.
We had the small standard room close to the main road so we could hear traffic noise. No kettle so bring your own. Decent size balcony, good air con and hot shower.
Also some noise from neighbours but not too bad.
If you have mobility issues you may struggle as it is steep in places.

The Cleaners were very good. We didn't need room cleaning during our stay but they did change our towels when asked and they still left water every day 👍🏻

The only main problem we had was the reception Staff. They are pleasant enough but not good at dealing with the customer face to face and one at a time. On all 3 interactions with them, they are easily distracted and don't pay attention.
On check in we paid cash as there is a 3% charge for using cards. At check out they said we hadn't paid ! Of course we did as you cannot be given the key otherwise but due to them not paying attention they have not processed the payment correctly.
We were also the first people there and the last ones to get checked in, very annoying. One Lady was dealing with us ,then abruptly left us hanging to deal with something else.
We would come back here as it is a fairly good resort but please give some of the reception Staff some much needed training.

We arrived at Ban’s and we’re driven by an electric buggy (considerate towards the environment) to our room in the Jungle House. All the staff were incredibly helpful and polite throughout our entire stay. As a group of first-time divers, we were slightly nervous and apprehensive, but Pierre really made us feel at ease. He was thoughtful and clear and he made all of our dives thoroughly enjoyable. I would highly recommend Ban’s, and especially Pierre, to anyone who is visiting Koh Tao and wants to learn how to dive.

Amazing time on the open water diving PADI course with Mario and Maria. Rooms included in diving price, went on dives during the day and came back to a clean room. 100% recommend. Got our license in 3 days and had the best time, made our Koh Tao experience!

Spent 3 nights here.
The location is absolutely beautiful, both the beach villas and the hilltop residence, with nice pools surrounded by trees and just a couple of minutes away from the beach.
However, there are many different things to improve.

First and foremost I find quite unacceptable that the reception and all the services stop at around 8PM, because the price paid and the 3 or 4 stars review usually should be accompanied with good services provided by the facility.
Moreover, if you are staying at the hilltop, without the residence cart or a rented scooter it is gonna be quite hard to get to your place, since it is pretty steep. And the signs are scarce and do not help in locating your place (on the first night we got lost and had to walk around the residence for 15 minutes in order to find our place).

Having stayed there just 3 nights we of course experienced just 2 room cleaning turns. Well, the second time they changed my sheets but didn't clean my bathroom. No big deal, since i was alone and rarely in the room, but still something not to be overlooked.
Unmissable, like in many other places all around the world, the "Save the world" sticker in order to not have your towels changed every day. Such a pity that the saving of the world ends ther for Ban's diving village, since the beachfront restaurant at night becomes a very busy (and noisy) club, were they definitely do not save any money on plastic glasses which are everywhere and sometimes end up in the sea with the high tide.

Room noise insulation is pretty poor, i could hear my neighbors talking as well as going to the toilet to do their business and again, if you have a beach villa, get used to the people clubbing up to 2 AM just in front of your place.

So, in short, beautiful location but much to be improved regarding the services, especially for the price paid.

When I decided to get my advanced open water in Koh Tao I went with Bans because a close friend had recently got her dive masters through them and said they were the best on the island. She also said to make sure to get Neil as your teacher because she liked his teaching style. From the moment I arrived to the moment we were done the experience was exceptional. They were very organized, efficient and warm and welcoming. Having a good dive master/teacher was important to me since I feel it makes all the difference in having a great experience. Neil was patient, organized and a blast to be around (don’t fall for any of his jokes!). He truly made the experience a memorable one. I highly recommend this company to expand your diving skills and if you go, ask for Neil.

After spending a month in Thailand I never thought I would return home and say to myself that scuba diving was the best part of my trip. My friend convinced me to take my open water course. At the start I could care less about going scuba diving because it was expensive and took up a lot of time. I did the open water course and loved it so much that I convinced my friend that we had to stay and take our advanced. Darren was our instructor and he was one of the big reasons I loved my open water course so much and made me want to take my advanced with him as well. All of the bans staff were very friendly and fun but If you have the opportunity to take it with Darren I would definitely suggest it, because like I said I didn't even care to dive in the first place. Darren even brought his own personal go pro to take pictures of our group since we didn't bring an underwater camera. He definitely made our experience that much better. If you do end up staying for the advanced course make sure you do the night dive, definitely one of the coolest things Ive done in my life. Overall, I would definitely suggest Bans for scuba diving and will most likely return for a visit throughout future travels.

- Dannion

Hi I have stayed at Bans twice, last visit was September last year. I can't recall the exact location of the family villas but looking at the pictures online I would say they are located well back from any noise. It has been very peaceful both times I have stayed. I would say, just looking at the photos, that it will be location up the hill across from the beach amongst the the other types of accomodation. There are frequent guest buggies that make life very easy getting to and from your accomodation. Both stays have been great and I highly recommend Bans. I don't have children but I am sure they would cater very well for families. Hope this helps. Marie
