Had a great time at the Ocean Star. It's right across the road from the beach and handy to everything I needed. The owner, Nga, doesn't speak much English but that was not a problem. I am traveling back to Vung Tau kn November and will use the Ocean Star again.

Vung Tau is quite compared with Saigon, so don't expect a lot of night life here. For me its more of a "chill out" place, where the locals are friendly and you don't have to take your life in your hands every time you go to cross a road.

whilst Vietnamese food is great, I do have a favorite western style restaurant. Davids Pizzeria is a must to visit. I always sit upstairs and look out over the water when I eat there :)

I have added three photos but I can't find the ones of the hotel :(

THis is a great motel for the rating, loactaed on the back beach, right on the water front. What a fantastic sight to wake up to in the moring, looking out the window onto the ocean. My room was on the second floor, and the view was from the side of the building, but still great.I did find the noise from the AC compressors a little anoying, but not to bad. Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy but ok. the staff in the restuarant I feel need a little more english skills. Point and show always works :)
overall, a good place to stay, however no restuarant in the motel was available at the time of my stay for dinner. There are some great kitchens on the srip to choose for eating meals.
All the fancy places to eat are on the front beach or on the way over there, not a big deal but worth considering if you like to eat out and varied foods.

All it's standard rooms have good view of the whole stretch of beach from the beginning till the end. Moreover these standard rooms do not face the main road directly so you can avoid the road noises.

I think its location is the best because of the following (all less than 50m away):
1) Less crowded and cleaner area of the beach
2) 4 eating places
3) 1 convenient store
4) Night BBQ seafood hawker at alley
5) Cheap and large variety souvenirs shop

The rooms are comfortable though a bit dusty and bathroom a bit moldy. Kettle, slippers, safe box, mineral water, toothbrush/paste set and other toiletries are available. Breakfast is disappointing though.

This hotel is just a 5 minute taxi ride from the fast hydrofoil port.

We usually stayed at 4* hotels but chose this particular 3* hotel because all rooms have seaview and the new ownership had done a lot to improve it. We were very happy with our choice and our stay. It was a nice surprise since the price was very reasonable for a nice beach front hotel. The premises is very clean inside out, and has an inviting entrance. The staff was very nice and helpful. We booked one of the 6 beautiful waterfront rooms with a spectacular view of the beach. The room is large and has high ceiling, therefore the air conditioner was not able to cool it. All the dishes served at the breakfast buffet was excellent. We also tried room service and all dishes were authentically good.

The beach is amazing! White sand, firm and flat surface, and very long. We walked for two hours. Excellent and inexpensive fresh seafood on the beach side, on the left side of the hotel on the beach.

We recommend this excellent budget hotel to all and will definitely stay at this hotel again next time.

I and my friends from Canada stay in this hotels in january last year, when we are back from the night sightseeing, we got drunk so that we do not lock the room. Tomorrow morning all of my 3 rooms is lost all the stuffs including 2 iphone, 1 sony ecrikson, 1 Blackberry & 2 laptops and US$3000 as well. When i call the security and come to reception to report the thief they try to postpone the time and say that they will call the police to come. We request to see the camera for the last night but they do not accept and they say they will call the police to come and will let us see the camera with the witness of the police. I report around 7am, but the police come at 11am and the owner of the hotels come to the office and say that the camera is broken so they can not show the camera. After that 15 minute, we receive the information from the Housekeeping that our wallet is find out at the garbage bin on the 5th floor, but they can not see who put in it, and the location of the garbage bin is opposite to the camera. I check with reception the total occupied during last night and they say that only 4 room. 3 of us & 1 from French, but i am sure that the French is not because when we back to the lobby they are checking out. With all that evidence, the owner come to us and request the privately meeting. In the meeting they say that, they will pay back to us around US$50/1 person and they are free the room charge for us, we do not accept and make noise in the meeting room. They calm us down and they go out, after that they call the police and report that we spoil and break down their hotel. We go with the police to the police station and receive the same talk with the hotels.
We do not accept and the police said that they will investigate and come back to us soon. We got no time to stay and waiting for their feed back. We are lost but that is very expensive experience in this hotel. I note down this to remind of whom intending to stay here. Hope that you are very best trip in Vietnam!!

Checked in and thought what on earth did we just book? First impression wasn't good. Staff weren't friendly at all, and we were about to discover why. Place was dirty and run down. Pool looked like it the homeless of Vietnam bathed in it. It hasn't been cleaned in months. We finally got to our room and it wreaked of ammonia or whatever they used to clean it with. It didn't get better. The aircon was on the blink throughout the building and we could hear other guests in the corridor arguing with staff about the issue. We also voiced our displeasure but the staff remained indifferent. After 10 minutes the staff member was tired of hearing us whinge and told us that the business was up for sale and that's why nothing was getting fixed. We didn't need to hear anymore. We packed our stuff, got half our money back and went elsewhere. Even half a star for this place would be excessive.

Not much reviews on this hotel, but i think its a great location, near to tour operators and restaurant . There are travel agency and massage shop around the hotel. We stayed at the lowest category room, and it exceeded our expectation. Location was quiet and convenient. There are rooms also facing directly to the sea. Room is spacious and very clean, definitely will recommend to anyone. But the receptionists do not speak very good english

The room is good value for money although Noise in background due to AC engines being right behind the wall. Poor service from hotel employees.
Poor Breakfast in a very dirty restaurant. It would be a perfect place for rats... It clearly shows you how they respect the customers.

This hotel serves its purpose with comfortable beds, airconditioning that works, adequate bathroom facilities, movie tv channels and good location on the beach. For $33 including a basic breakfast, it presents good value.
