I visited the aberdare country club with my family for three days and two nights. We had a fantastic time there. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I travelled with my 5 year old and 6 month old and the team were able to make the room comfortable for all of us. The kids enjoyed seeing the antelope, worth...

We stayed here early October 2016 for one night on our way travelling north from Nairobi to Samburu. Beautiful gardens, lovely driveway into it and character house and a few animals around during the day especially Peacocks and Peahens, the odd Bushbuck and Warthog seen. Had a couple of hours display of a Peacock trying the entice some females to...

Great place to visit with family. Everyone's interests were taken care of. Downside is food variety, need to have more variety that includes African dishes. Most foods were too spicy. Staff very friendly. Grounds and heated swimming pool excellent.

Aberdare country club was an awesome place one year ago. Exactly one year later, this month of October, I returned expecting another wow experience but was disappointed this time. Staff offered good service, rooms are nice with a fireplace and also clean. Hot showers were not working in the main shower even after reporting to the issue to reception. The...

I would give 0 rating if I could. The setting is very nice however that's about it. The shower in my room didn't work. The food was awful and bland and sometimes stale. No wifi as promised and when asked reception just said it's being updated - he was too busy watching tv to be bothered to speak to me....

I loved the old country feel and look of the dining area/ lounge. The scenery is awesome. Our room was lovely; very big as well. Loved the cosiness that the fire brought to the room. The food was not all that..but it was better when there was a particular chef who was in-charge of dinner. Their service needs to improve...

This was a lunch stop while on safari. The food was good, the service was attentive, and the setting is beautiful. The dining room was large but the seating was crowded together at long tables and not as comfortable or as conducive to conversation as it could be. I can’t speak to the rooms as we didn’t stay here but...

My stay at aberdare country park was far from satisfactory. The promised wifi was not available in the rooms and on enquiring, was informed it was being upgraded. The shower was not working. When making enquiry over the phone at the reception, was told they would get back with the information which the person-in-charge never did. Service in the restaurant...

This was a lunch stop prior to be driven to The Ark. What beautiful surroundings and there are wild animals roaming around. A gorgeous peacock was seen as well. Check in for the Ark was very smooth. Lunch was very nice and in a lovely outdoor setting.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Aberdare Country Club, only a three-hour drive northeast from Nairobi, is nestled on a slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands, part of the Great Rift Valley. This captivating site was selected by an English couple who had decided to settle in the land of their choosing - Kenya. It all happened many years ago; their children grew up there, but then moved on to different places. After almost half a century, their home, "The Steep", was sold and re-named "The Aberdare Country Club". Even though the property was developed beyond the imaginings of the original owners, they would be pleased with how carefully it has been nurtured and the grandeur it has maintained. This is highlighted in Monty Brown's book, "Haven Under the Hill" which says: "Today, despite the fast-changing tempo of the outside world, the old home still retains that comfortable, solid feeling based on traditions from a time when life proceeded at a far more leisurely and gentle pace". The Club's 1,300 acre wildlife sanctuary is teeming with eland, impalas, zebras, giraffes and the more reclusive leopards. It is a haven of unhurried charm set in a garden bursting with a profusion of colour, and with peacocks living within the lush green lawns. Walking through this unspoiled terrain is paradise. Play a round of golf, watched by a family of warthog, or fish for trout, play tennis or just relax by the pool within the beautiful gardens. From here you can see the sunset with the stunning Aberdare Mountains as a backdrop. ... more   less
