Pros: delicious and ample food, seamless transfer in and out, and small groups for the river tours. And ample wildlife to spot (but that is more because of habitat squeeze due to the surrounding palm oil plantations). Cons: sheets were stained in spots, bathroom had a horrid smell, and our guide was only mildly informative. The jungle walk was mostly... More

The staff at KJC are extremely helpful and friendly. Everything ran very smoothly from our hostel pickup to our stay to our drop off at the airport. The food was great and plentiful and there is always a cup of tea. The room was spacious and very clean. The boat cruises were the highlight. We saw a huge herd of... More

Went with a group of friends and stayed in this wonderful jungle camp. The camp was simple but clean and comfortable. Food was excellent and staff were friendly. The guides were great and we managed to see elephants, crocodiles, proboscis monkey, various species of birds and beautiful little insects. We also had surprised visitors to the camp - black squirrels, monitor lizards,... More

After a tremendous amount of research on how we could explore Borneo on a backpackers' budget, we were delighted to find this budget friendly option to make our dream trip to Borneo a reality. Coming from Sandakan, we took a shuttle (arranged by the camp and included in our package) for approximately two hours to the river front. Then the... More

This place is amazing. We caught the 7am VIP luxury bus from Semporna to Kinabatangan and could have got off at Sekau Junction - about 4 hours which was no effort in really great bus. We were met by a driver from the KJC who took us to boat and then on to the camp in time for lunch. We... More

Overall an excellent experience at Kinabatangan Jungle Camp! Communication was easy from the start, airport transfer was on time and dependable, the camp is simple and clean, the staff friendly and accommodating, the river cruises intimate and exhilarating, the guides well-informed, the meals ample and delicious, the bedding and furnishings basic (hey it's a camp), the hot showers? - available... My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on 22nd May and we were the only 2 guests. We were greeted by all the staff when we arrived and they all seemed really happy to see us. We went on a river cruise 3 times and was fortunate to see orangs on 2 separate occasions along with proboscis monkeys... More

We're so glad we ended up choosing to stay at KJC. We did a 3d/2n stay with extra night & elephant cruises added. It's not listed on the website, but you can absolutely book longer stays here too. Communication was fast & easy from the very beginning. Excellent value for the money with good food & reasonable accommodations (you're in... More

KJC has a lot of good things going for it: + small numbers on the river cruise - most of the other boats we saw had double or triple our numbers. The most crowded boat ride we had was 5 guests in total, whereas some of the other resorts pack 12 people in a boat. + Guides good at spotting... More

We really enjoyed our visit here thanks to the friendly staff, good guides and terrific food. The trips along the river were great especially the afternoon/sunset our second evening. Our 4 year old absolutely loved the boats and playing with the staff around dinner time. Really nothing to say except its a camp not a 4 star resort so as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kinabatangan Jungle Camp was established in the year 2004 in the lower Kinatangan Wildlife Sanctuary near the village of Bilit. The whole concept is simply truly jungle. Today, many repeat visitors especially birders still come to KJC to search for the very illusive Bornean Ground Cuckoo and others still try their luck to see the Clouded Leopard. ... more   less
