This is a terrible hostel with filthy unclean rooms. Our room had old congealed soap in the soap dish. The curtains were scruffy and did not fit the windows. The bathroom smelt of sewage. It was not cheap either at US$20. Avoid or get the plague.

Located in a nice part of Santo Domingo beach, the rooms are large but very basic with only cold water yet the water is lukewarm so ok to shower. Ask for the ocean front rooms which have excellent views of the lake. No aircon but the breeze is very refreshing. The owners are very friendly and will help you with...

Upon arrival we went to another "hippie farm" hostel that was on the usual backpacker trail. However, it felt too expensive and not authentic enough for my girlfriend and I. So we decided to walk 5+km to Santa Domingo and came upon Casta Azul.. It was dark and rather late and we were greeted by Ernesto the owner who knew...

The hotel facilitates you with large, clean rooms all with own bathrooms. The staff and restaurant serves freah, local handmade local ecological food and drinks plus best and kindest service and help. The beach is 50 steps from the main entrance and the water is always fresh, warm and inviting. No dangerous currents or risks for kids in any way....

The staff was very nice but the place almost felt abadoned because it was so run down. The bathroom smelled and there was no water (save for a plastic garbage can with a bucket in the shower) or internet for the same price as the hostel across the street. Good location and uncomplicated with potential.

We decided to "splurge" on a night in an actual hotel, rather than the hospedajes. We thought we had picked a real winner with this one. Nice big room (not much in the way of furniture though) clean, private bathroom. It even had a balcony. The balcony would have overlooked the beach, but there was a neighbors property right there....

First of all, a lot of mosquitoes and insects all around the beach and at the hotels. And do not stay at Hotel Azul on Santo Domingo beach, which where we were. The hotel gives you bad service, and they turn off the water every singel day and night, they don't give you room service if you don't tell them,...
