First, I'd like to start by saying, we had pre-booked our standard room w/2queens, 2.5 months in advance, as we had for much of our 3 weeks in Peru, and were worn and weary when we arrived (backpacks in tow). After a long-steep climb up a dingy alley (riddled with dog feces), we see construction off to left right beside...

This is a great little place. Quite rustic and pieced-together but in keeping with the surroundings. Very close to train station, village square and buses to Machu Picchu. Staff friendly and helpful within the limits of their English skills. LOTS of stairs to reach the hotel, but if you can't climb, what the heck are you doing in Machu Picchu?

The room was clean and dry and the staff was polite and helpful. The restaurant breakfast was just enough to fill us, so no concerns there. What impressed me was that somebody was waiting at the train station with a sign for us even though we hadn't asked for it. Our kids saw the sign and asked if that was...

There are A LOT of stairs!!!! Many...then when you get to the hotel lobby there are more and even in our room there were stairs! That being said we are young and in good shape and the view from our bed was breathtaking! The place is beautiful but our first impression wasn't the best, they put us in a different...

This place looked great on their website, but fell a little short. The rooms were clean, the beds were a little hard and they lacked some of the basics like shampoo. The one saving grace was the amazing water pressure in the shower, which was great after hiking the Inca Trail all day. We were only here one night and...

The rooms here felt like a summer camp cabin. Slightly musty and clean enough. This place is a few flights up and I was terribly winded after every ascent (and I live in a 5th floor walkup), because of the altitude, among other things. Those are my only complaints and I think that in Aguas Calientes, you can't do better...

For some context, it's important to understand that Aguas Calientes is purely a tourist town. This was, after all, the only place in Peru where a business owner (at a restaurant) tried to rip us off. Rupa Wasi is a sanctuary from that kind of mentality both in atmosphere and in the attitude of its staff. While centrally located, Rupa...

I recently spent a few nights here and there is definitely something very magical about it's unique location :) The view from our room was amazing- right onto Machu Picchu mountain!!!- the bed was super comfy and the staff were very friendly. If you come for a visit, make sure you go to the restaurant too. The food is fairly...
