SUMAQ is modern hotel with excellent rooms, amenities and attentive service. Suites offer superb comfort and great view of Machu Picchu. Stop #5 of the minibus going to the Machu Picchu site is right in front of the hotel; 10 min walk to the train station. Lovely bar and public spaces.

AN EXTRAORDINARILY ELEGANT AND ecologically minded hotel near the Machu Picchu bus stop. Rooms are beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable with all sorts of thoughtful details, Restaurant was undistinguished by comparison. Breakfast was the usual spectacular feast, but dinner was boring. Service okay.

After paying around 750$ for two nights I was surprised to say the least at this hotel.. they claim to be a 5star but they are most certainly not... the view of the mountain and river are spectacular but, beware if your a light sleeper as the river can be quite loud to those of you who are sensitive to...

I almost never write reviews, but the experience at the Sumaq inspired me to do so. I hiked the Inca Trail and knew I would want a little luxury at the end of the four day, ~50 Kilometer hike! Sumaq didn't disappoint. We were greeted personally and welcomed with snacks and a welcome drink. The hotel returned laundery within a...

Let me start by saying that the idea to spend a night in Aguascalientes while traveling to Machu Picchu is basic. I know some people go from afar for a day and go back the same day, don't! and here are some reasons: 1. The lines to go up to Machu Picchu on the bus (unless you plan to walk...

We stayed at the Sumaq overnight and paid over £500 including meal and breakfast: a complete rip off. The foyer/sitting area was small and quite basic, the bedroom supposed to be a suite, but was small and very basic furniture. The only redeeming point was a very good in-room jacuzzi. Restaurant was very cheaply decorated and food and service underwhelming....

I will Rate this as the best hotel during my stay in Peru. Staff is so service oriented. Food in the hotel is excellent. Free complimentary drinks provided as well as a free complimentary massage. They are not considered luxurious but its personalized service has made it a 5 ⭐️.

My family and I stayed at the Sumaq for one night in between our two days in Machu Picchu. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this hotel has the most welcoming staff ever. When we arrived from our first day on the mountain, we were pretty dirty and soaking wet, and after just one look at us, they brought...

What a place! This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed in during our 3-week vacation in Peru/Ecuador. Great location - we had a river front room - conveniently a 2-minute walk to town and close to Macchu Picchu (if you decided to hike up vs. take the bus). The rooms were beautiful, we arrived to a lovely cocktail...

Facilities-wise, this hotel is more like a four-star hotel, but it more than makes up for it with warm service, a lovely restaurant and a great location ( short of the Belmond, which is right at the entrance to Machu Picchu). The return bus from MP can drop you off right in front of the hotel if you tell the...
