Avala Resort & Villas garners mixed reviews, with its prime location near the old town and beachfront earning high praise, despite occasional noise complaints. Though guests appreciate the ample space and views, the hotel's atmosphere and amenity offerings, such as sun loungers and in-room tea and coffee facilities, receive inconsistent feedback. Service quality appears to vary, with both commendations for attentiveness and critiques for unresponsiveness. While many describe the hotel as clean, others point out sporadic cleaning services. Opinions on value are divided, highlighting disparities in cost versus quality.

Upon arrival at the hotel, instead of the booked standard rooms overlooking the rocks, we were accommodated in a two-story villa overlooking the sea. It would seem like unprecedented generosity on the part of the hotel, live and be happy. But as it turned out, these are the dirtiest hotel rooms I have ever seen. The smell of dampness, the floors are unwashed, apparently from last season, judging by the dried shells and mollusks and other deceased animals in the corners and by the beds. You can’t call for cleaning, and if you catch someone from the room service passing by, it’s not possible to explain what you want from them, they don’t know any language other than their Montenegrin. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out with him either. So we agreed with gestures. The receptionist is also a complete failure, although they understand English, they do not fulfill any requests. The advantages are the location, not a bad SPA, breakfast has quite a large selection, but monotonous. The price/quality ratio is not even close. There are nicer places in Budva.

Great location at the foot of the old town of Budva and the port
the hotel is a real maze with different corridors, stairs, elevators depending on where you want to go, it is not at all a hotel for people with walking difficulties
Very large room with living room and large bathroom with bathtub and shower , just missing a kettle , clean room , very decent sleeping
Beautiful view of the superb pool , there is a beach with deckchairs but be careful they are only more or less large stones in the water
As for the catering then there surprise , the service is done by many young people between I think 16 and 18 20 years old without knowing at all most of what a catering service , often planted with your hands behind your back , not asking you what you want to drink or remove dirty plates except breakfast where it was most very young girls very responsive , we had to complain to the only adult manager of the room who looks but does nothing to tell him that it is not serious these behaviors in a 4 star hotel ; indeed we managed to eat our dinner without drinking since no one came to take an order
unworthy of a 4 stars it certainly costs much less to employ very young people but at this point never seen
The food is correct but no more
The staff for example at the reception never say hello, how are you, not a fair smile of basic professionalism
You can easily find dining next to the hotel since the walk along the sea are only restaurants
The bus station is a 20minute walk away but be careful buses to destinations like kotor , perast , cetinje ...., are not at all punctual and often very late
Moreover if you book your bus on the internet you must take back a ticket to access the platform which costs 1 euro while if you buy the ticket at the ticket counter you do not have to pay 1 euro!!!

The hotel is lovely, the rooms are good, the beds comfortable and the bedding excellent quality. The staff who clean the rooms do a great job.
The location is really handy for access to the Old Town.
The beach is great, although shingle is the norm for this location but the addition of a pier for entering and exiting the water is a real plus.
The beach is private and the staff actively ensure that it is kept to hotel guests only or a payment is requested. In 2 weeks of being here I haven't had to rush in the morning to get a sunbed, there's always plenty available.
The choices in the restaurent are limited, the buffet isn't extensive but the food generally tastes good.
The only real negative for the hotel is some of the restaurant waiting staff.
Every meal is a buffet the staff aren't required to take orders or deliver food. They remove used plates, take and deliver drinks orders and reset tables.
There are enough staff but they're often to be seen standing in groups chatting, looking at phones and having a laugh. In the meantime, folk are going to the bar for their own drinks and tables are left with dirty plates on. This isn't true of all the staff. In general the female staff are helpful and attentive and there are a few good male staff, however in general the guys will walk to the kitchen to hand in 1 or 2 dirty plates and walk past other used crockery multiple times as a matter of routine.

On one occasion I selected my meal used a dinner plate ate my food and sat for 10 mins. I then went to select a dessert, returned to my table, the dinner plate was still there. I ate my dessert and sat for another wee while. Two waiters went back a forth, passing closely by my table several times, actively avoiding making eye contact every time. At no point was I offered a drink. In the meantime several other male staff plus these two spent time chatting and entertaining themselves watching a colleagues phone.
It's a shame that a hotel with a long history and everything else going for it is sadly let down by staff who take no pride in their work.

This hotel is rated 4 star, however once you get past the reception and the public areas the place is shapely and dirty. We are currently staying in one of the villas on the 7th level. It is reached by a series of escalators or 200 hundred steps. We arrived 5 days ago and everyday at least one escalator is out of action. Anyone with mobility issues and small children should avoid staying in these villas. There is no tea making facilities unless you request from reception. You will get a kettle but no cups etc. The villas are shabby and furniture is stained. Cleaning should be done on a daily basis but our toilets were not cleaned for 4 days and bins weren’t emptied even after complaining to the reception and jet 2 rep. The photos are taken even after we complained twice to reception stating they were still dirty. I apologise for the graphic nature of the shots.
The pools are good, however the cleaning of surrounding areas were not. There were teapots and cups left for 3 days on the upper level. We were around the pool everyday and never saw anyone clearing debris after the storms overnight. All facilities are on the lower levels of the hotel. The main dining room can only be accessed down a full flight of stairs, the disabled lift was out of action since our first day.

We were upgraded to a superior category of room S24 the Room was neat, spacious and had a clear sea and old town view.

THE Shower was good and spacious but we think more shower lights would help.. had a nice warm rod for drying cloths.

Electric kettle was provided when asked for... not available in each room bur provided when asked...

Options for vegetarian food were limited in breakfast but something that we could live with.

The infinity pool has a good panamoric view but markings or warning signs alerting steps ahead would help.

Jacuzzi had nice temperature controlled water.

The location has many acess points via access card and is strategically located just at the enterance of Budva old town ( in a way city centre).

The check in and check out process is v smooth with excellent front office staff...

The hotel is usually full and making booking early always help..

Hope to travel again to this place soon

We have just returned from a lovely week at the Hotel Avala. Our room was well presented and the bathroom a good size. Housekeeping was good, with bed linen changed mid-stay and clean towels every day. The public areas were very clean and tidy. Reception staff were helpful, particularly the lady with whom we settled our bar bill the night before departure, who arranged a packed breakfast for us as our airport transfer was too early. The spa and swimming pool are well maintained, with beautiful views of the old town and well as the sea. We had no problem securing sunbeds round the pool. These are included in the price of the stay, as are those on the nearby beach, along with fresh beach towels every day. The barman in the spa is very efficient and friendly. The food is good value: there is a wide choice at breakfast and at dinner, including freshly prepared specials at the dessert buffet. The waiting staff are mainly youngsters, some more friendly than others (the young lady who greeted guests at dinner was particularly nice); the older man apparently in charge in the restaurant wasn't at all cheerful. We were a little apprehensive before arriving, as some reviews are so critical, but we thoroughly enjoyed our week and hope to return. One of the lifts was out of service most of the time, which was a nuisance. The Avala is very well situated for the old town.

The Avala resort is lovely. It’s the perfect location right next to old town and the beach. We stayed in a villas. It had 2 floors, first floor had spacious living area with tv and closet and a small bathroom. The balcony looked out towards the ocean. The lower floor had the bedroom with large bathroom with shower, bath and double sinks. The only thing the villas was missing was tea and coffee making facilities. You can ask for a kettle a reception. We did however have to request 5 times before the kettle was dropped up. That was my only complaint. Please note if have issues with steps or walking I would not recommend the villas. The easiest way to access them is to take the hotel elevator to the six floor walk to end of the corridor walk across a utilities area up steps and then for us as we were in the highest row of villas we had to go up 3 sets of escalators. These escalators were finicky and sometimes didn’t work so had to use the steps sometimes. The main pool area looks out onto the sea which is fab but there is not a lot of sun loungers for the size of the hotel so I would say during the high season it would be difficult to get a sun lounger. Sun loungers are also available on the beach. The gym was a decent size and the saunas and steam room where nice. The hotel bar food was lovely and priced ok. The breakfast was buffet with a large selection. The only thing is one day we can down at 10am for breakfast, it finishes at 10:30 snd there was hardly anything left so it looks like they don’t really keeping stocking up the breakfast. So I recommend to go early. Overall lovely hotel and I would stay there again.

It was our first time in Montenegro - we stayed at Avala for 7 nights. Hotel is in the perfect location and has its own private beach, with free towels and sunbeds for hotel guests- keep in mind that all other beaches charge you for sunbed so to have private free beach was exceptional benefit. For some reason our room was upgraded to villa room, so it was a very pleasant surprise. Food is average, so small tip for other guests- its better to order from their a la carte meniu ( good prices, amazing food), than to purchase all inclusive stay ( with dinner).

We stayed one night at this Inn that stands out just because of its waterfront location. This Inn looks upscale but the rooms are sad, brown wood, dark bathroom. The staff is rude, condescending, cares absolutely nothing for your welfare. At 12 noon, at the checkout you are 'fired' from the spa because you are no longer a 'guest'.
In short, if you go there to be well located, it is a good choice. For food, morning or evening buffet, just very bad, very average quality canteen food. The restaurant room is charmless, noisy, dark wood, personal in 'robot' mode. Do not expect a smile, a service, an open door because we prefer to slap it in your face!

I cannot fault any part of this Hotel. Oozed quality at every turn. sheets , bed, dressing gowns and towels were real quality and the beds so comfy. The staff were responsive and pleasant. The infinity pool over the sea was amazing.
The breakfast was ok but a little repetitive. The chef needs to come out and check the hotplate in person as the young girls tasked just rearranged the eggs which had been there far too long and on occasion were like bullets.
I made comment to one of the staff and the next day the chef kept popping out and there was a dedicated person making the omelettes and fried eggs. which shows the staff listen to concerns and address them . Well done all of you and thankyou for an extremely pleasant stay *****.

I think the internal pool is around 1m to 2m deep, the infinity pools are about 1m deep and there is also a shallow children's paddling pool adjacent to the main infinity pool.
