Our hotel is situated just outside the sacred ancient city of Anuradhapura. Surrounded by paddy fields and trees with lots of greenery around it. You see the Jethavanaya and Ruwanvailsaya (ancient Stupa) from the top rooms. There is a river flowing close (100m away) called the Malwathuoya. We are 5 min away from the city center by taxi. We try to make you relax from stressful world you live in and make you come close to nature. Our friendly and smiling staff is available 24 hrs for you. We have a restaurant open morning to late night. We have attractive menus at affordable prices. We have en-suite toilets for all the rooms and all rooms air conditioned on your request. Most rooms are very spacious. We have a lovely pool beside our garden. Our garden is peaceful and full of wild birds. Early morning stroll in the garden is highly recommended and taste kolakeda (herbal drink). We have a conference room with capacity for 100 people. Our hotel is a popular place to wed in Anuradhapura due to surrounding scenes and good food. We are 1 hour from Wilpaththu and Minariya National Parks; we can arrange safaris on advance request. We can arrange for you to hire bicycles to see around the ancient cities and tanks. Come and experience us.

I've been visitiing this little hotel for 5 years and stay for 2-3 nights whilst in that area doing the charity work I do. The staff are always friendly and know me well but my observations are that all guests are treated equally.
I always eat local Sri Lankan food with red rice which is always freshly cooked and tasty.
The rooms are clean and in fairly good condition. The newer family rooms are of a large size, suitable for 4 people. The smaller rooms are suitable for two people.
The view from the balcony across the paddy fields to the recently restored stupa are spectacular at night.
I have never used the pool but it is always sparkling clean and the garden is small but restful and nicely maintained.
The accomodation for driver/guides is good and no problem if they eat their meals with you at your table, no additional charges like other places.
On my last visit, I arranged with the hotel staff and chef to prepare food parcels for a little school and montessori children and their parents, this was no trouble for them to do and the chef did a great job. The meals were all packaged into individual packages and boxed for us to transport easily.
I have recommended this little Villa to friends both Sri Lankan and Austalian and all have enjoyed their stay and I will continue to do so.

We've just spent four nights here and had a wonderful time. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough to help us. The food was excellent and plentiful. The setting is very peaceful and very close to the old sacred city sites. Our room overlooked a beautiful drogoba which was floodlit at night. Puzzled by previous negative reviews. Perhaps some people expect 5* service and standards for 1* prices. cannot recommend this gem of a hotel strongly enough.

We visited there in January 2013 and the first appearance is not so good. But during our visit, we understood that it was a nice place. The pool is good and clean. The staff is friendly. Food is fine. The beads are clean and comfy. It's a good place to visit if you are looking for good accommodation for a reasonable price.
There is not much difference between the normal rooms and deluxe rooms. Only the TV and the space is the added value. So normal rooms are good and economical.

From the moment you enter the Hotel, the focus is on your comfort and relaxation. Service is unobtrusive and constant attention to need is quietly maintained the views and gardens are spectacular and includes a swimming pool. The food was delicious and our requested 'Sri Lankan' dinner was to die for. Delicious with total attention to detail, explanation and service. Would love to have stayed longer. A total delight!!

We remained in this hotel a couple of nights during a 9 days tour of the country. Hotel unclean, full of any kind of insects even being at the first floor, room wasn't cleaned but remained undone, matteresses old made us wake up in the middle of the night with backache. First night we tryed to order meal from the menu but they decided to give us other food (wich was not bad, actually). Second night food terrible (probably old) . The worst part of the stay was having three male local drunkards trying to break into our room for an hour and a half from 2 am until 3.30 a.m.. We were two female friends and the hotel was practically empty and our room was isolated from the main entrance. Nobody came to look what was happening even if those people were making noise in the middle of the night. Had to call several time the reception before someone came for the first time. Then, we hotel staff left, the drunkards went on knocking at our door every 15 minutes and asking to open. Had to call a second time to make someone come up and wait outside the door. Very scary situation. Luckily nothing happened, but it's the first time something like that happened to me and had to feel scared for my safety inside of an hotel. I would strongly recommend women not to go there alone.

I'm astounded to read some bad reviews of this hotel, because we had it ALL here for our 3 night stay. It was truly wonderful. Adrian and the staff were so helpful and kind throughout our stay. Adrian arranged for us a full-day safari in Wilpattu National Park, where we saw an elephant bathing in the wetland, lots of peacocks and jungle fowl, bee-eaters and brilliant blue kingfishers, spotted deer in droves - and a leopard. He also arranged for a packed lunch for us for our trip. He also arranged a full-day tutc-tuc drive to the historic buddhist and hindu sites from Anuradhapura to Mihintale. Our room at the Nilketha had a balcony that overlooked wetland where we were treated to the amazing sights and sounds of bullfrogs, mongooses, kingfishers, herons, egrets, bee-eaters and gorgeous big boldly-coloured butterflies. At night, the cacophy of the sound of frogs and cicadas was deafeningly amazing.
We loved it here - and spent our last day walking round the hotel's gardens, swimming in the lovely hotel pool and sunbathing - just kicking back. Wow! Our plan is to visit Adrian and his staff for a longer stay next time we're Sri Lanka-bound.

Two weeks after our visit I still wonder how people have been so positive in other reviews about this hotel.

The moment we walked in the reception we sensed an odd atmosphere between the staff, not helped by the oddly arranged reception and dining area.

Our room was not at all clean and our shower window looked out onto a corridor. We had to put a plastic bag up at the window for privacy.

The bed spread was ripped in several places and the only available plug had been browned through previous overheating.

The shared areas also hadn't seen a mop and bucket for some time.

The breakfast was not good, with sour milk and a heavily salted omelette.

We left after one night and took another hotel at extra cost rather than endure another night here.

I don't like to write reviews this bad but they really need to improve.

The hotel is situated close to the railway station and town. The Jetawanarama Dagoba could be seen from the hotel. It has a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere and is surrounded by fields of paddy with a gentle breeze ever present. The garden was beautiful well maintained and even had a swimming pool. There was even a honeymoon couple taking photographs in the garden.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were always happy, courteous and always willing to help, but not obtrusive. From the moment we entered the hotel we were made to feel at home. Although it was before check-in time, our baggage was taken into our room and we were given a welcome drink
The room was quite spacious with a balcony, attached toilet with shower, fan and air-conditioner. All of which worked. Meals were offered, but as we were keen on seeing the sacred city and had only 1 day, we opted only for breakfast. Breakfast is offered from 06.30 hrs onwards. The breakfast was delicious and followed by a nice pot of tea.
The night was peaceful, as there were no mosquitoes, as we had the a/c on.
The next day we saw the rest of the sacred city and Mihintale. We returned to the hotel and although it was almost check-out time we were made welcome to use the swimming pool. This was very refreshing after a very hot and hectic one day

Our family stayed here for 2 nights, and the stay was quite good, considering the rates. Nice little pool where my son fully enjoyed himself and nice big garden for him to runa round. Most of all very good service with friendly staff. Rooms were also ok, beds comfortable. Meals were good, though a bit expensive. All in all it was a very nice stay..... I would certainly go back.....
