"At Gamodh Citadel Resort, we did few differences which provide you a memorable and peaceful experience. We built our resort at relaxing atmosphere surrounded by ancient ruins and ancient temples. The atmosphere is full of peace and nature . Surrounded breeze constantly whispers you, the wonders of ancient era.Our modern rooms provide you with all the facilities. You can explore the old city by yourself using our bicycles
We arrived at Gamodh Citadel Resort on Christmas Eve after a long arduous day travelling and were pleasantly surprised with the hotel in general. The staff were friendly and always with a ready smile. The peace and tranquility of the hotel was only broken by jungle noises that were somehow strange, but appropriate. Our tour didn't include dinner here, but we were able to select from a nice menu and enjoyed our meal with cold beers, a welcome end to the day. We highly recommend Gamodh Citadel Resort.

This charming hotel is a stone's throw (or a brief tuk tuk ride) from some of the ancient and spectacular temples dotted liberally around Anuradhapura. It offers a selection of bicycles for hire for energetic travellers (not me!). We were welcomed with open arms and a deliciously refreshing drink. Our bed was festooned with incredible towel art, which made us immediately feel at home. With a large terrace, kettle and fridge, we settled in on the spot. All the staff, but particularly the manager (guide!) and chef/waiter could not have been more friendly. Our every whim was catered for. They definitely went over and above. The owner should know what a credit they are to him...bonuses all round! As for the food - it was so scrumptious (and amazing value) that we ate at the hotel every night and some lunchtimes. Too good to miss! Highly recommend their Sri Lankan curries...yum! The pool is nicely landscaped and it a perfect size and temperature for swimming and lazing beside. Thank you so much! In our trip throughout Sri Lanka we stayed for two days at this great place on a fantastac location. We had a good room with a view on the garden. The big and perfect suited swmmingpool was a joy and very welcome in the heat. We enjoyed our stay very much with this nice and good people. It was like a warm bad. I really recommend this place to everyone that want to visit this fantastic country.

Rooms were not cleaned, not worth for money. Had a very bad experience with hotel manager (Priyantha) and support staff. They were demanding extra money during check-out putting unacceptable things in front. Agreed rate before check-in but at checkout asking for more money...! so if you are planning to book this place pls think twice. there are much better places around Anuradhapura for reasonable price with much better facilitates compared to this place ..!

We do try our hardest to accommodate each of our guests request to the best of our availability and Services at check-in and we really hate to disappoint anyone whom come to stay at Gamodh. It was revealed during our investigation that there was a dispute related to a billing issue. Our team had explained to you at the time of Check -In, that you will be charged for the meals for the extra child who stayed with you exceeding the number of Guests assigned for the room you have booked. We are saddened to hear your comments about our hospitality and service. We are usually known for our attentive and friendly staff who treats our guests with special attention. Away from Apura still better than most of the places in Apura. very quiet place, liked that quietness..Try their grilled chicken very nice crusty and soft inside ...overall okay ..ranga the waiter was polite and help full

Stayed two nights at this resort. Host Rukshan and the other staff made sure we had a pleasant stay. The rooms were simple, but spacious and clean. Equipped with air conditioning and fans and good beds. Shower was not warm. In itself we did not mind this because a warm shower in hot weather is not nice.
The restaurant is simply decorated, but the food is very good. You can choose a Western and Sri Lankan breakfast. Fresh fruit juice and fruit are served with it. Dinner consists of various tasty choices.
There is a small covered area that is furnished as a bar. You can also play billiards here. It was a bit unclear whether or not you had to pay for this. Advised them to provide some clarity about this.
The swimming pool was lovely and partly in the shade, so you do not have to lie in the sun. The hardworking gardener is busy day in day out to maintain the garden and the swimming pool. Compliments for this.
All in all definitely recommended if you want to stay here for a few nights. A visit to the temples and the old abandoned city is definitely worth it.
Thanks again to host Rukshan and all other staff for the pleasant stay!

Excellent service!. The hotel is about 4.4 kms from the sacred city area of Anuradhapura. The rooms are spacious and well appointed:A/C, fan, tea / coffee station. The pool is fantastic. The staff were very friendly and accommodating: they catered to our taste and meal requirement. We stayed two nights , and had all our meals here. An extra big Thank you to Thusitha, Isuru, Indunil, Isuru and Gayan for their friendly service. We will recommend this place to our friends.

A very warm welcome was given. The room was spacious. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and always helpful to us. What made me love this place was when we came late after a religious activity at around 11:30pm ,, the staff members were still awake and welcomed us. Thank you.

What a great place. A cosy, hidden garden with houses on the ground floor and a nice pool with sun beds and the staff was amazing, especially our own Safan! Little secret crush I have now, I think, for he was soo very kind, professional and has an amazing, contagious smile. A tip: if you are offered food, please do accept, because the chef is absolutely amazing. We’ve had the best, best quality of breakfast foods and extra’s, also a lot of things we’d never heard of but were truly delicious. I would definitely recommend this place, and as a tip: get to know the staff, because they’re wonderful people.

Booked entire villa. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Allowed us to check-in early. Staff was amazing, well trained and very friendly. Pool was nice and clean. Calm and peaceful environment. Food was very delicious and fresh. They surprised us in every meal by blending a Sri Lankan herbal taste. Had a 5-star customer service. Highly recommend. That was the best stay so far in Anuradhapura.
