We a group of 23 checked in to this property from 01.03.2020 to 02.03.2020. The check in was quite smooth and it took hardly 10 minutes to get in to the room. We were occupying Cottage No:B-3. The room was well updated with clean bed sheets and towels and the bath room provisions are basic. The complimentary wi-fi system was absolutely not up to the standard. The property also provides a small poll along with sit out areas near the poll.

The food and breakfast was quite basic and being an Indian we didn't find much pleasure with the food although the F&B Manager Mr. N.Thusantha Perera tried his level best to provide us the best of services.

The only problem with the rooms were the mosquitos, although the hotel provide nets and mosquito repellants but its not sufficient.

Overall a nice stay in a good property and would certainly recommend.

This hotel is tucked away from the huddle and bussle of Anuradhapura city. The grounds are well maintained and clean equipped with clean swimming pool.
Rm 28A and 29A was upstairs so you ask for ground floor room is mobility is an issue.
The rooms are spacious and clean with ammenities similar to other hotels. However bathroom in 28A smelt like swerage which my kids didn’t complain about because we were just staying overnight. Yep there were cockroaches and a lizard in room so let the fantastic staff know if that’s an issue.
Breakfast was mediocre. Continental breakfast was old and chewy so we just had traditional food which was really tasty and yes fresh. Coffee sachets kept running out so just ask. The juice was made with tap water as alluded by staff so as a tourist refrain from drinking juices.
Staff worked hard which was obvious and they all had great personalities. But overall similar 3 star hotel had better systems and processes.

The hotel is along the road far from shops, bars and restaurants, if you haven’t a car you’re bound there. It is a little outdated and would need maintenance but the room was large and comfortable and the bathroom had a large shower. I needed to ask for towels but they arrived. On the contrary towels for the swimming pool are not available. There is complimentary tea/coffee/water. No safe, no hair dryer. The food is definitely mediocre. One night was a buffet and another a set menu with some options none of which very appealing. The waiters can’t speak English and they keep on coming to take away your dish. I wanted to try a beer but they only had one liter bottles, too much for me. Breakfast too is not special, canned juice, poor choice of fruit and cereals, no yogurt, no eggs to eat with your bacon and sausage (only hard boiled eggs).
There is a 10m swimming pool, ideal for children and not too bad for a few strokes. Wifi is good and they accept credit cards.

We checked into this alleged 4 star hotel from April 8th for 8 days in 2 rooms with half board. which quickly turned out to be a mistake. The service is a disaster the staff in the service are very rude and disrespectful to German guests to the locals who stay one night they are more polite. Room cleaning a disaster the cleaning staff outrageous, he was shocked as we insisted on daily cleaning and changing of towels. The staff didn't really care, it wasn't cleaned, the old dirty bed linen was used again, we can complain to the manager. after we saw and spoke to this manager everything was clear to us, the person has no idea about management so the whole staff and everything else is a disaster. You should definitely not leave the money in this hotel. we as Germans were not friendly and welcome here. You have to say this category of hotel is not normal our category you should like this 4 star hotel to be viewed more as a hostel. At the end of the day, the locals were offered water for dinner, of course, the Germans weren't offered water, we had to order water and of course pay for it. after 3 days my husband asked the rest of the local Anuradhapura citizen is what that should we are here for a week have booked 2 rooms and unfortunately paid straight away, why are such differences made here? he is proud of these people here where foreign guests give this impression of Sri Lanka! We were previously in the Hotel Mermaid Kalutara Level 1 Hotel for 14 days all super friendly and top, then in the Marino Beach Hotel Colombo 1 week of perfect service top hotel 5 stars. Now here in Anuradnapura 8 days unfortunately there are no good accommodations here we would like to be in the Aryana Boutique Hotel that was unfortunately fully booked and so we are forced to stay here but in no way recommended! A man the cook is super good and very friendly and polite, unfortunately we don't know the name of a smaller man in the middle / end of 30 years maybe and a little stronger thanks for his great service and his good food, the rest included .. Managers can do a lot from this man learn

During my stay at Alakamanda in Anuradhapura, every aspect of my experience was memorable. The staff, particularly Mr. Manjula, the restaurant manager, provided exceptional hospitality, offering recommendations for local attractions and ensuring my comfort. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and maintained with great attention to cleanliness. The comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep.

What impressed me further was the affordability of the hotel's services. Despite the high quality of amenities provided, the prices were reasonable, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining value within a budget

Nice hotel and its location. Surrounded with good greenery. nice hotel lobby, . good and clean room with AC, TV , swimming pool and hot water. wifi connection is only available in hotel reception area which in current travel intermarry bit difficult to go to hotel Looby to check our messages. Few routers near rooms could easily solve wifi problem.
Food quality id ok and need slight improvement is restaurant service but currently it is quite good. Breakfast and dinner buffet menu was very nice and testy.

Overall, quite good hotel for overnight stay

Very bad experience.waste of money and time. I had to book thus place only because the dates we were able was not available at Heritage Hotel,Anuradhapura.
Disgusting.
Never recommand to any one else.Multiple issues.
1.staff was not welcoming. Though it says srilankan people are so welcoming, this staff badly need to learn how to smile and welcome tge guests.
2 .wash rooms are not clean though in tge google it shows this is a 3 star hotel. Drains are clogged and bad smell, which is not acceptable from a HOTEL.
3. Staff is not accountable for any issue.
My vehicle was blocked by a tourist bus, i asked more than 5 times the secuirity officers, front desk at last the restaurant manager to ask the driver of the tourist bus to allow us to get my vehicle. There is no hotel manager| resident manager at the vicinity.
Finally the front desk person cintacted us to the driver and driver told We have to wait till he finishes his meals.
When I was initially asking to let me take my vehicle out, d
The driver was not eating but was chatting with other people. Though he had more than enough time to fix the things he and the staff both purposely showed their poor attitudes.
The driver verble abused my wife and tried to physicay abuse my self.,but whole the hotel.staff was watching theincident with out taking any action.
The management better visit the places functioning AS HOTELS, instead of managing places like this.
Am very dissapointed.
Firstever incidence I came across like this throuout my stays at both srilankan and foeringn hotels.
These poor fellows are not much caring about the loc tourists.
Even being a Srilankan,am not recomminding this place to both foreigners and locals.
Disgusting.

We were in Alakamanda on our round trip in Sri Lanka, and used this hotel with beautiful garden to visit the ancient city of Anuradhapura, the Avukana Buddha statue and Mihintale. As we were the among first tourists from Europe after the covid-19-period, we were welcomed very warmly (and although you notice that covid 19 has delayed some renovations, which is off course understandable, the garden was very inviting t). The food buffet had a grand choice in dishes and the breakfast buffet had much choice both in curries, breads and fruits. Suggestion for making your customer more happy, is having a stable wifi in the rooms. Thanks for having us!

It was a great pleasure to spend our wonderful family vacation in the best hotel in Anuradhapura. We selected a hotel after a thorough search and we would never regret the choice we made. The staff was very friendly and even before we reach the hotel, they were able to prepare a family room to match our requirements. The manager was very friendly and the whole staff made sure that all the clients were satisfied. They gave us a very warm welcome and the room was excellent. The rooms with the pool view are the best. Our room was very spacious regardless the fact that 5 of us were in the same room. It was cozy and clean. The breakfast and the dinner were fascinating. They had arranged a buffet for both the breakfast and the dinner. The dinner included a range of Sri Lankan, Thai and western cuisine. The breakfast included many Sri Lankan foods such as string hoppers, milk rice and many more. I would definitely select Hotel Alakamanda to spend my vacation whenever I visit Anuradhapura.
