This place offers you an excellent value for your jungle lodging. You stay in fully equipped tents with toilet, shower with warm and cold water and excellent food. You have to be aware of the fact, that you stay in a jungle camp. With this fact in mind the tents are very comfortable, clean and you don't miss any comfort. The service is great, they do whatever is necessary to make your stay enjoyable. If you leave your suitcase in your parked car and take only what you need for an overnight stay in a bag, you can enjoy this camp even more.

We went to the camping site around 2 pm. The way they welcomed us was super. If you could go at least 1 pm to the camp, you can enjoy your lunch and there will be enough time for the safari. We were provided the Sri Lankan menu for the lunch. Unfortunately, we were not lucky to see more animals in the wilpattu forest. But we enjoyed the beauty of the jungle. I suggested them to plan Safari early in the morning, so guests can see animals.
Evening tea was served once we return back to the camping site. After dinner (BBQ menu), we had a night walk around the camping site. It was a new experience for us since we haven't seen how animals behaved in the night. We were guided by a nice person who knows night life of animals well.
Camps are designed eco friendly. We couldn't ask anything more than that because the camps are built with a washroom and other basic facilities. For me, people who need to spend a night in a glamourous camping site, this is a highly recommended place.

Very good setup with a welcoming drink and snacks whilst explaining their program. The tents have a good shower toilet and a fan. The beds are comfortable and the food is very good. There is no alcohol available for sale but you may bring your own. You are seated for dinner by group and mixing is not encouraged

The pictures look lovely as they are lit up at night and so look cosy. The tent is basic. There is a hanging rail. One fan ( which you need!!!) The shower and toilet is part of the tent but separated by a zipped flap. We shared our shower with 4 frogs. It was fun. The tent really is very very basic ! And unfortunately, as with any camping there are always loud people next to your tent who never seem to go to bed even though we are up at 5.30 to go to the reserve !!! The meals are outside with a bonfire. Wonderful. really lovely . The food was ok ( couldn't really see what we were eating.) The big minus for us was there was NO ALCOHOL but people who had obviously been warned, brought their own. Wish we had known !!!!

Booked this place to stay 1 night with couple of friends. They did a warm welcome upon our arrival and provided 3 tents for us to stay. The stay was on Full Board basis. Lunch was arranged in the outdoors and it was quite nice experience. Overall food is good. The package includes a half day safari as well.

The dinner was served along with a bonfire and it went well. We have decided to go on an additional safari on following day morning and they were kind enough to make all arrangements including the breakfast for the safari.

When it comes to the tents, those are small in size and with very basic amenities. Sleep quality is acceptable. But bathroom is quite small to handle. Since the tent is small, you barely can live in it during the day time.

However, overall nice experience and good stay in the boarder of Wilpattu. Value for money.

We had the best overnight stay at Big Game Camp Wilpattu. We arrived a little early and was welcomed with fresh coconut water and an explanation of what to expect during our stay. We were then directed to our tent and we could not have been happier. A few reviews here say that the tent is very basic - it is - but as regular campers that’s all we need and what we enjoy! We love the dark so the minimal lighting was no issue for us. Before the safari we had lunch at 12:30pm in a secluded area of the forest. It was the best curry we had had in Sri Lanka. We started the safari at 2pm and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw a range of different animals and were lucky enough to spot a Leopard and Black Bear. The safari finished up at around 6:15. We returned to camp and was greeted with tea, coffee and biscuits as a snack before dinner. Dinner was fantastic! We were guided to an open fire with a number of beautifully set up tables circled around it. The BBQ was wonderful. Afterwards we went on a night nature walk and learnt a lot about the wildlife surrounding the Wilpattu National Park. Breakfast in the morning was great - lots of food and tasty. Overall it was a wonderful experience! We would 100% return.

We stayed overnight at the Big Game Safari and really enjoyed our experience. The food was first class and the staff all friendly and helpful. We opted for the afternoon safari and whilst we never saw leopards we saw a host of other animals and birds including sloath bears, mongoose, monitor lizards, turtles, deer, eagles, owls and monkeys. Whilst our lunch before the safari was delicious in hindsight it was probably better to opt for something lighter as the safari itself is very bumpy! The evening BBQ by the camp fire and the sound of the jungle coming alive at night time is truly magical. One piece of advice I would like to offer anyone staying at the camp is to ask for a night time emergency contact number as another couple staying at the camp ended up having a snake in the bathroom compartment of the tent and had no one to call... thankfully it wasn’t out tent as I would have been terrified .

Dear BenhamParty, Thank you for your wonderful review and its great to see that you have enjoyed your stay with us. It is great to see that you have had a wonderful safari and seeing a leopard is of cause need a bit of luck as well. our staff always try their best to make your stay a delightful one and your appreciation will definitely reach them. Regarding the incident about the snake, we can assure you that this is an extremely rare situation and emergency numbers are always shared at the welcome for anyone to call at any time of the day during the whole stay. However seeing that it hadn't been the case this time, we would most certainly look into the matter. Thank you

This was not glamping by a long shot and I’ve done lots of true glamping in Africa and Sri Lanka. The tent was filthy on the inside. The bathroom fixtures were corroded and barely working and there was no hot water. The furniture was stained and dirty. I’m guessing the place sat empty during Covid with little or no maintenance and hence the inside of the tents have not stood the test of time in a wet and humid environment. My wife and I are experienced campers and used to “roughing it” but not when you are spending $200+ a night not including safari activities. Our total bill for 2 nights and 2 trips into the park was over $700. I expected more for the price and would avoid this place. We’ve done some wonderful glamping in Sri Lanka for similar prices.
On a positive note the manager on site Rajitha was super nice and tried his best to make our stay pleasant but there was nothing he could do about the dismal lodging. He is knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife and acted as our guide on our first safari. Wilpattu is a beautiful park and worth visiting as it doesn’t have the crush of jeeps that you often experience in Yala. We saw lots of wildlife and birds.

Hello 283stanleyr, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your stay! We are pleased that you are very happy with the safari experience and the excellent service of the staff members who looked into every aspect to make the stay pleasurable. The quality of our guides and the manner we conduct safaris are two of the main reasons why our guests come to us repeatedly. But we are very sorry to hear that your expectations have not been met with regards to the accommodation. Though these are entirely mobile tents and can't be compared with a permanent lodge, your comments were discussed in length with the operations team to ensure that they will look into continuous improvements. Regarding hot water, normally it takes a few minutes for it to reach a tent due to the plumbing system in the wild hence we recommend guests to wait for a few minutes having the tap opened. The WIFI facility is only available in dedicated public areas of the campsite as informed during the brief and on our website. However, due to the remoteness of the location, there are many instances where we do not have good signal strength. We are really sorry about it. We really hope you will come back to us again so that we can exceed your expectations. With regards,

The wilpattu safari started in the afternoon (after lunch); there is a night walk of 30' around the camp. This could sound silly but it was a lovely experience.
