Stopped here for lunch following recommendation in Rough Guide. Had rice and curry, a vast array of food, more than 8 curry dishes with enough rice to feed an army for 400rupees each and the freshly made fruit juices were large and excellent. Another plus was they served beer! Highly recommended don't bother with anywhere else.

Saman's Guesthouse was clean, friendly and accommodating. The manager was accommodating. He assisted us get transport for an excellent price to Sigiriya return in tuktuk (1200 rupee). The guesthouse is only 5 mins walk from the Cave Temples which was very convenient. He speaks Italian so that would greatly assist any Italian travelers. It was pleasing to have hot water... More

We thought this place was excellent value considering what we paid - bargain/negotiate for a better price. The rooms were clean and there was even a proper shower, with hot water, instead of the usual shower head hanging over the toilet:) The food on the other hand we didn't even try as it was way too overpriced.

The family which runs the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They charged our SIM Card for us and we could use their personal computer because we didn't bring any Laptop or Smartphone. They offer reasonably priced Tuk Tuk rides but we had to start our trip to Sigiriya one hour too late because their Tuk Tuk wasn't ready. We... More

We had a lovely time here. Im so surprised by some of the negative reviews I have just read and can only put it down to different levels of expectations from people as we had no problems at all. I was slightly suprised when we first arrived as the entrance which is the restaurant is slightly shabby looking. The manager... More

This guesthouse could be nice (the rooms are OK) if there would be a good manager. The current manager does not know how to run a guesthouse, nor does she know what goes on in her own guesthouse. She gave us coffee made of unboiled dirty water; she gave us damp, smelly towels and sheets. We had to ask at... More

Rooms are rough even for a budget. Door wouldn't even close all the way on our room leaving a gap big enough for someone to peak through. Blood stain on the floor too. Owner said she would reduce price of breakfast from the rediculous 800 rupees on the menu to 400 but not to tell other guests! Oops. Secrets out.... More

I was looking for a cheap and clean guesthouse in Dambulla, from where I could also visit Sigiriya - I found a great place where to relax in the evening, after much sightseeing and walking! The owner is adorable, his son used to study in Italy and I got many good advises from him over the phone (since he was... More

This is a guesthouse that makes you feel very welcome from the beginning! Nice new rooms, not expensive and the food is amazing! The owner has also lots of tips for activities in the areas. I really felt at home at this place. Definitely worth a visit.

We stayed at Shamans Guesthouse 2 nights during our holiday in sri lanka ( november and december 2012) . At first we weren't sure..they were doing some rebuilding, but then we got a very nice room upstairs. We were quite hungry, got some tea and chocolate cake at once , then made a trip to the cave temple and in... More
