We Stayed here on advice of a tuk tuk driver - a bad move. The room was overpriced (even after we bartered down!) for a dark smelly room with ice cold shower and cracked sink. They started making banging noises at 6am and didn't stop even after we complained! The restaurant is overpriced, and even though the view is nice... More

When Esala Perahera makes every option in Kandy city umreasonably expensive, this place on the hill on the lake opposite the Sri Dalada Malagawa (until another cement monster is built in front of it, you can actually enjoy a nice view from the breakfast room) can fit the bill. You'll want a tuk tuk to get back at night, goimg... More

Good location. Near the lake but far enough from the traffic. A bit up a hill but walking distance to restaurants and stroll around the lake. Don't expect too much for the room. It was good enough for what we needed, spacious, comfortable. Breakfast was simple and good. Staff was friendly.

Was taken here by the tuk tuk driven the first night I stayed in Kandy and I don't think I will ever forgive him. Was way over priced, everything was dirty and the owner continually spitting. Probably the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. Stupidly I asked for coffee in the morning and as with most coffee in Srilanka it... More

We have really enjoyed our staying in Amaara Lake Hotel. The room was big and clean with a wonderful view on Kandy. And the receptionist - Ajith Kumara - was really helpful! We can recommend this lovely hotel to trevellers who want to enjoy the nice vice on Kandy lake.

The hotel is really nice. We had a triple room which was perfectly clean, very big, with a big bathroom, and with an incredible view on the lake and temple. It is really well located, city center, market, bus & train stations, tooth temple are all in walking distance. The owner is really nice and helpful. He offered us a... More

The location is good, with a nice view from the balcony for smoking. But the room was very dirty, smelled bad and very very humid. The restaurant has some top prices and the table cloth looks like it wasn't cleaned since they opened. The young man working there always seemed to be making fun of us. And every morning he... More

We stayed in Amaara lake for 2 nights because it was Perahara and everything was fully booked. The room was dirty and smelly. The staff was friendly but lazy, asking us to come early at night cause they were "very tired". You had to ask if you wanted a hot shower. Worst hostel we've been in Sri Lanka.

Grubby room with filthy floor. It's up a steep hill, last part of the road is an unmade, unlit rutted track. The breakfast was mediocre with no variety, fruit was good but coffee was awful, "toast" was steamed bread, "omelet" was fried egg that appeared to have had the yolks removed. While not directly asking us for money, the manager... More

Amazing view of Kandy landscape. Walkable from city center. Direct view of the Kandy Lake and temple. Amazing service, good food. Clean and Hygienic place. Friendly staff. The place was previously Indian consulate.
