I booked this hotel after having stayed at similar hotel from the era in the UK, i.e. The Grand in Brighton and found it an interesting comparison. The hotel has not been heavily modernized and from that perspective gives a better impression of what Victorian hotels were like. The rooms we had were still their original size, very large with...

Queens hotel is a pearl that is falling apart. The hotel is old English vintage style and has been a 5 star hotel last century. Sadly is it falling apart. The renovations is done without respect, the staff is lazy and the food is average. It is a pity - with a small effort and a good management the hotel...

The hotel prides itself on being a historical establishment, with original design, style and details (e.g. elevator) still very much emphasised. And it does truly feel that you are stepping back at least 100 years as you walk down the corridor towards your room or listen to the live piano at your elegant dinner, so the experience is truly a...

This hotel is a lovely remanant of a bygone era. It can be a bit noisy depending on what room you get so try to get one facing the inner courtyard if possible. It is close to the Temple of the Tooth but my recommendation is to head up the hill a bit further to the colonial cemetery. Set in...

We (a group of 60 yo Australians) stayed here for 2 nights in mid-March. The very central location with easy access to shops, markets, Tooth Relic Pagoda and lake is a mixed blessing. We were in Rm 126 on the first floor facing the lake. Unfortunately, this room overlooks what seems like a major highway and the buses and trucks...

We stayed here for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago. It is a lovely building and the location is superb, right opposite the lake. The pool is lovely and the bar area not bad. We didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment. Some of the staff were helpful, others less so. The room though faced the temple and...

We visited The Queens Hotel for three nights. Its perfectly located near the temple of the Tooth and the lake, so very central. It can be a bit noisy as a result but we found it easy to walk most places we needed to go and there was always a tuk-tuk flying by if we wanted one. the doorman was...

Queens hotel Kandy was great for our 1 night stay. The location was perfect right opposite the temple of the tooth. The hotel was cleaner and the rooms were big. The only downside was the noise made by other guests in the hallway, children running and screaming at 6am down the corridors and the walls are pretty thin.

Be extremely careful using Royce Tours and Travel in the lobby of the Queen's Hotel. At least fix everything you arrange with Mr. Royce in writing. In our case he changed a hotel without informing us to a cheaper one with no refund, although it seemed that he would have completed the booking of the hotel in our presence.
