My wife & I are both children of the Colonial era and wanted to stay here. It is true that it needs a bit of TLC but it is a lovely building and has so much atmosphere! What it really does need is some more hands on management. The service was very slow and one evening we went to the...

We stopped for one night as part of a driving tour of the interior. The hotel is in a great location just across the street from the lake and the Temple of the Tooth. Very welcoming and responsive staff. We had a buffet lunch and breakfast in the main restaurant and saw the interesting juxtaposition of very professional waiters and...

You walk out the lobby and across the street is the entry to the Sri Dalada Maligawa. To your right is the beautiful Kandy Lake. Few hotels can claim a location such as this. If you are a history buff you will love this somewhat forlorn gem (which is now part of Ceylon Hotel Group - Galle Face Hotel) so...

Like Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, the Queens is a beauty long past its prime. Such a good location and such lousy hotel infrastructure. Such a lovely building and such complacent under-investment. I had to change rooms because of internal noise; I had two blackouts in three days; my key was hardly usable; plus other small quibbles. My complaint was...

The hotel dates back to British days, and is old. Our room was the size of half a tennis court. The bathroom was just adequate, with a shower over the bath, again huge! The highly polished wood floors are interesting, but a nice change. Everything worked including the air conditioner. The bar is a lovely open air affair near the...

We enjoyed our stay at the Queens. This hotel is in a perfect location in the center of Kandy on a corner with the lake over one street and The Temple of The Tooth over the other. Out the main doors turn left you have the Central Market within walking distance. Odel shop is a few doors down on the...

Obviously the hotel is old. Everything else is also old except the staff. Even inside the room almost everything except the air conditioner is old. But the beauty is everything is functional and we had a very comfortable stay. The staff members are young vibrant and helpful. Specially the waiter, Chadana was a very helpful young man. He goes out...

This old colonial hotel is extremely well located in the center of Kandy. I loved its colonial style with the pretty old lift and its wood furnitures. It's a little bit like being back to the colonial age. The room was clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and efficient.

Needs a few tweaks dialed in, but generally impressive. Great Breakfast and Lobby. Fresh Fruits and omelette bar. Service solid. Hard wood flooring and small museum of artifacts in Lobby bar interesting. Would recommend. Amazing history unfolded in this building. A real slice of colonial Sri Lanka.
