I'd stay here for a couple of nights! Came here by accident, after the reserve decided to eat. I can't write anything about the kitchen, but the place is 10 out of 10! A large swimming pool overlooking the rice terraces and the jungle, there is a nearby temple and at sunset the sounds of the forest and birds mixed with those of the temple. It was amazing. On our next trip, we plan to stop in this place for a couple of days and watch the elephants in a leisurely manner. Walk to the temple and above there is an oceanarium .

The staff was very nice, the air conditioning also worked very well. The food was also really tasty! Personally, I didn't like the fact that the bathroom was open, because animals can quickly enter. Unfortunately the swimming pool was out of use, but everything else was fine. I would definitely come back here.

We went to Pinnawalla to visit The Wleohant Freedom Project which was 10 minutes away so the location was perfect m. We were also 2 mins walk away from the Eleohant Orphanage where we got to see the elephants cross the road every day which was a treat. The Hotel had a lively pool which the kids enjoyed and the dining area was a nice place for tea and to play board games. The only downside was that it was a little run down, some cobwebs in bedrooms and algae on the walls in the bathroom. Overall I woukd recommend for an affordable stay in order to be close to elephant activities.

We had a very nice time there. While waiting for the dinner, we were walking around in the hotel’s garden which was also beautiful.😍 Peter (the chef) made us local food (kottu) even though it wasn’t on the menu. The food and the fresh juices were delicious! Lalith (the manager) is a very friendly guy too. Highly recommend!

"We visited Villa Pinnawala for a pool day pass, and it was a delightful experience. Our family had an amazing time enjoying the pool, which was clean and well-maintained. We relaxed with some cold beers and tasty bites, making it a perfect day out. The location is beautiful and ideal for families, with a peaceful ambiance and lovely surroundings. We left feeling refreshed and satisfied. Highly recommend for a fun family outing!"

We booked the three bedrooms villa. Rooms were comfy and clean but the bathroom had lots of humidity and insects. Staff was friendly. Breakfast services was slow and the food wasn’t that good. Good location to visit the elephant orphanages around.

I was really glad to be in Villa Pinnawala and I feel that is the best place at Pinnawala to spend time in leisurely..I was there with my family and thier welcome was superb..as a sri lankan I never got that much of welcome from a Hotel like servising to foreigners. Accommodation is perfect with yummy foods. Wash rooms are very clean and modren bathrooms are perfect and i never saw like those facilities. I felt that the showers are like waterfalling. 🙂 when i looking at the Pub area, that was perfectly arranged and i think that is the only place with air conditioned resturent for get lunch and dinner at Pinnawala, Managment, thank you soo much and definitely i will visit “Villa Pinnawala” twice and i recommend to my friends to visit there...❤️

Hi Shane,
It's a nice place but to be honest I'd say two weeks may be too long as there is not much around there other than the Elephant Orphanage. If you're willing to get transport to surrounding places like Kandy it's no problem. As for plugs they have two types, one being the standard UK three pin and the other standard Sri Lankan three pin with round prongs. Food and drink prices are average now for inland Sri Lanka, which I don't find too expensive compared to where I live in the UAE but compared to the UK there expensive. If you've never been to Sri Lanka before I'd say break up your two weeks with time spent inland and coastal, vast difference in prices with coastal being much cheaper. Hope I've been of help.
Ian.

Most accomodations in Sri Lanka provide driver accomodation (it maybe from a nearby outsourced place and extra charges may apply) I'm not sure about the current situation at Villa Pinnawala so it's better if you can give a call to them :)
Taxis are easily found outside the airport. They are generally cheap in western terms but I don’t know what the cost is. We hired a man and his car for our 4 week stay at an all-in cost of about USD50 a day. Well worth it
There are more places to choose from in the Pinnawala area.
