The only good thing about the rest house is that you wake up to a view of the rock from the verandah…apart from that the room is dirty, the bathrooms looks like it has it hasn't been scrubbed in years and the sheets are grey. The food looked awful so don't waste your money - their is a fantastic Kottu...

I agree with fellow reviewers that this place needs some investment...but in the fourth year after the end of the war most places in Sri Lanka might attract that criticism. We used it as a stopover for a trip to Lions Rock in the morning, but nevertheless found it a charming place with reasonable food in a typical Sri Lankan...

good view from the pool to sigiryia rock. standard cottage room, but clean and roomy. big garden ovelooking sigiryia rock. many monkeys arround on trees and cottage roof. you will proberly need to have all your meals in the hotel as not so many resturants are avaiable near by. it is good for family with kids and teh service is...

It's a bit of a shame to see some of the more critical reviews on here so I'll firstly say that this inn was clearly once a bit grander than it is today, and secondly I'll say that my friends and I had didn't find it at all dirty or unpleasant. It was definitely past its best, and had an...

Even though much cheaper than nearby resorts, this is very basic without much ambience (though it has been there for 50 years), Sad! Ok, for a night moving on - however then you will find much better options in the nearby home stays both for food and ambience. Only plus really is a/c and the fact that this place is...

Fortunately i only spent one night in this hotel, due to its proximity to the rock but it was completly disgusting: dirty sheets, filthy bathroom and cockarooches. Manager round it funny, its a "jungle hotel madam". Unpolite staff and por breakfast. Very nice outside but disgusting inside

Stayed at this rest house for 1 night and thankfully only 1 night. Room very dark no hot water and rather dirty as well. Dinner and breakfast poor as well. The only decent thing about staying here is the location as you can climb the rock in the early morning. Would not stay at this rest house again.

We stayed here without having previously booked, because the Lion Rock had let us down by messing up my brother's booking. It was dark when we got down from Sigiriya rock so we were pleased to find somewhere so close. There were no rooms with hot water left, but as we were hot after our climb we were happy with...

It was our worst night in Sri Lanka: Cold water, dirty sheets, filthy bathroom (and worms in the shower !!!!), and on top of all, a very unpleasant staff. We still don't know what happen to the Lonely Planet when they wrote a rather positive comment on that hotel.

Very nice appearance on arrival. We came as part of a group and there was total confusion over the rooms - eventually we were allocated one but in the meantime I was badly bitten on the leg by some vicious insect (different reaction to mosquitos). I understand from other members of the group that the standard varied between rooms. The...

“The 2 rooms to the left as you enter the rest house are OK, but don't forget to set the remote of the AC to the code written at the back of the remote.....otherwise the AC would not work! Spent a hot night due to above.”
