Charming place. Simple. Amazing value. Best curry in Sri Lanka. In the middle of nowhere but that was lovely. Rooms were clean and spacious. The family who run the place are so nice and we have so much respect for the lovely lady running it who sadly lost her husband a numbe of years ago. Averred limited evening menu ..curry....so...

The food we had here, home cooked by the owner, was some of the best we had in all of Sri Lanka. The place was very clean, basic but nice. Overall a good experience. Just be aware of the guy driver attached to the BnB, he took us to Negombo in minivan and it took us far longer than it...

We spent four nights in Banana Rest. The central location of this guesthouse offers an excellent opportunity to visit several major cultural sites, Sigiriya, Dambula, Polonaruwa, Ritigala, within the daytime using either bus or tuk tuk. The guesthouse is located in a peaceful and beautiful garden close to a lake 2 kms away from Sigiriya. The accomodation is comfortable and...

We stayed here for three nights at the start of our trip. Like a few other reviewers, we were a little underwhelmed with the rooms on arrival. They were very basic and seemed quite pricey. Our stay here ended up being one of the best of our trip. Although basic, the rooms were comfortable and clean. We started in a...

We stayed here the last two nights while on a five day tour originating in negombo. At first we looked at each other and said... This is where we're staying? It was a wet and miserable day ad were both a bit weary. The place must be quite new as it looked to be still under construction in some places....

Banana rest is the first guest houst we stayed in Sri Lanka! We were 6 of us and at first we should stay only 1 or 2 nights in Sigiriya....we stayed 4 and do not regret it!!! Ramith and his mum are so adorable, I have no word to express how warm was the welcoming. At first they look shy but...

Yes it's basic but it feels miles from anywhere even though Sigiriya is just around the corner. There's a lovely lake a hundred metres away for a relaxed walk. It's bright, clean and comfortable, good value for money and excellent food. OK so we found a frog in the bathroom. My wife kissed it and was disappointed it didn't turn...

Only 10mins drive from Sigiriya, this place is ideal but the good point stops here. The AC in the room does work, but it's not powerful enough to cool the room. We had to have the fan on as well but it was quite loud. The room was dated and clean-ish (can't really see as the lights were very dim...

Hotel is located quite far from the village. So if you need anything extra, you should buy it before entering the hotel. Advantages: - You're really surrounded by nature - Rice and curry is great (at 750 LKR) - Good breakfast - Hot Water - Good staff (most likely it's a family hotel) Disadvantages: - Very basic rooms - Not...

We had already found a hotel in Sigiriya, unfortunately it was so popular that there were no more rooms. Our pushy driver had an idea: Banana Rest. It is a land with a house and restaurant of a former movie star. Or at least that's what Muthalif, our driver tells us. It resembles a campsite. And you're feel like you're...
