We stayed in cabin #4 (upstairs) for three nights the end of December 2016. We had to leave a day earlier because of some mess up I did with my travel (my fault) but the lodge gladly accommodated our request. The timing was not that perfect because of the rains and chilly weather up the mountain. Nevertheless, we enjoyed every...

This is a nice lodge in a gorgeous setting. We had a Junior Suite, which was spacious and filled with light. Our balcony had a beautiful view of the valley and mountains beyond. Infinite shades of green! The food is made with super-fresh and local produce. Yumm!

Booked a 4 hour hike to see animals and birds on the trail for an 8:30 start. Arrived on time while guide prepared the snacks and hot chocolate and started off in the jeep to a road that was pretty rough but the vehicle was well equipped to get us to the location. We had to put on rubber boots...

We spent five nights at Quetzales during the rainy season. For much of our stay we were the only guests, so our experience may be atypical in many ways. We arrived in a downpour; we had reserved one of the remote cabins, but had not really appreciated HOW remote they were, and we changed to one of the "master suites",...

We just stopped in for lunch on a very rainy day when hurricane Otto was off the coast. Therefore we did not do much sight seeing. The lunch was excellent and very reasonable. My wife had pumpkin soup which she said was delicious and had their burrito which was truly outstanding. We would like to stay here another time.

We are birdwatchers and found this a superb place to stay while birding the area. The hotel is quaint, comfortable and clean with good food and service and an excellent ratio quality/price. For birders, there are plenty of good birding spots in the area with lots of species that can be seen right from the gardens and verandas, where they...

We stayed in one of the Junior Suites for two nights and had a wonderful time. Abel took us on a guided hike to a remote waterfall, replete with plant identification, birding, and stories of the high jungle. Beautiful. Carlos Alfaro, the owner, showed us his organic gardens and talked about his efforts to be a totally self-sustaining operation -...

My husband and I enjoyed very much our stay at Los Quetzales. We stayed at one of their Suites which had a very well installed chimney. The food was excellent at very reasonable prices. The staff was extremely helpful and cordial, which made our stay even better and feeling like home. This hotel is by far THE BEST and A...
