Thought its an old run down property, you will have large spacious rooms in the main building, and a private lawn with fantastive moutain views. Dont expect any express service, but the staff try their best . The Manager is a gentleman, and definetely, this is value for money, if you are not fussy about the service,or the tv etc.

This Govt of West Bengal property is next to the Gymkhana Club and just off the Mall. That gives it the right motorable access since the Mall is off vehicles. The prices are low to medium depending on the rooms you take, the main building being more expensive. We stayed at the Annexe this time, and the maintenance is really...

I booked for two nights. But immediately after checking in, I had to check out and look for some costly alternative. I booked this hotel believing that it's in one of the prime tourist destination, despite the fact that it's a government owned property. Entire premises looked shabby, broken furnitures, floors and walls. The rooms, furnishings and toilets are stinky....

Although we had booking for senior citizen it gave gave us the top floor rooms. The reception said we don't look if the booking (online) had senior citizen mentioned or not, they just don't care, food okay, view of hills good, poor maintained rooms showing that it's run by government. Good point is or the best part it close to mall...

Fantastic place to stay, fantastic food and facility. If you do not get any vacant room the main building, you can also take rooms in the Annex building. If you are 4 to 5 parsons in a group and can stay together, the large rooms in the Annex building will be the worth for your money.

Some issues related to maintenance, but overall a nice place to stay in! I was able to see Kanchenjunga peaks in September (it was cloudy and raining) and for 3 days we were able to see! Mall Road is nearby too, with 5 minutes walk! Over all good experience!!!

The Pros: the best part is the view of Kanchenjunga from the hotel room. Your mornings will not be the same anymore as long as you stay here!! to top that, the food is awesome.. that too at a fair price!! Now the cons: the hotel especially the Annex building needs major maintenance. the hotel itself if a bit far...

If you are a budget tourist, willing to overlook a few maintenance related issues, then Govt Tourist Lodge can be the best option. Walking distance from the Mall and with a clear view of the snow capped mountains from the beautiful lawn,Tourist Lodge can be an ideal getaway for budget tourists.

Its a government property, so abviously the maintainence is not that great thanks to government apathy. The property has a very nice garden and great views from rooms on the first floor and old building. Surprisingly the staff is very helpful and nicely behaved.

The prime Govt property has got the right location and massive rooms. However, everything has a old dated feel and rooms furniture seems from 1960s era. Excellent view of surrounding mountains ranges from many rooms on valley side. There may be better managed hotels in similar price range in Darjeeling.
