They have a great rooftop, clean rooms in an old british style building and still operate the old lift. They let us stay till the evening because we have a small child who still needed some afternoon sleep - which made us particularly happy

I stayed in this guest house for 3 nights with my family in October 2016. I booked a month in advance as it was Durga Puja time in Kolkata. Though the rates didn't fluctuate much I could have got better deal in the same price range (Rs1400 approx./night) for standard A/c room. Some plus points for this guest house are:... More

I stayed here in August 2016 for 2 days. Room is pretty ok but costly for that neighbourhood. Room is on 5th floor, everytime u need to use the lift and bad part is they use old type of lift system. During my stay there was heavy raining in kolkatta, sound of rain was disturbing throughout night against that plastic... More

We stayed here for 2 nights for 2 people, and was given a large bedroom with 3 single beds pushed together (Room 14). Paid 1380 Rps/night - pricey, but seems to be the case for a good location in Kolkata. Hallway to the room was a bit messy, sheets and thick blankets were not clean, and fan is very strong... More

I stayed in Sunflower Guest House 1 night waiting for my flight. The hotel was clean and nice. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get a coffee or chai. Would be nice if they would offer a view drinks, water, chai, coffee and so on.

This place looked great, but when I (American woman) showed up with my Indian boyfriend, we were asked his nationality, and then refused a room. This isn't the only hotel in Kolkata that follows this racist policy, but I promised the guy at the desk I'd write a review. This has nothing to do with modesty because foreigner only couples...
