He overcharged me for my stay as arrived late compared with similar places around paid almost double. The place is dirty and not taken care of. It is good for one night or emergency. The good thing is the location.

This place is awful even by Indian standards. Rooms filthy, toilets - filthy, everything is filthy and old. Weird characters stay here, if I were a single women I'd stay away from it. The only good thing is that it's next door to The Modern Lodge. If Modern Lodge is full you can stay one night in Paragon and try...

Positives...reasonably cheap, close to eateries, met some really nice fellow travelers. Negatives...filthy, room cleaned once in 4 days, bathroom looked like it was rarely cleaned and stunk of urine, constant hassling by staff for tips or simply begging for money, beds uncomfortable maybe due to base being made of broken plywood. We stayed here as everywhere else in our budget...

If you expect a backpacker area than you are right. Rooftop for drying clothes and smalltalk. Still one of the better cheap rooms in Kolkata. Rooms on the big rooftop can be a little be loud in the night. Hot water is provided for a few hours a day, you can take it with a bucket to your room.

Lots of foreign travellers stay here, and I met some truly amazing people who I am still in contact with, and in one case travelled briefly with, but if you're looking for a comfortable stay this place is not for you. The rooms are dirty and damp, with holes for windows which makes it cold at night. There is only...

We did see worse rooms in the surrounding area (which is a good location) but still 600 a night for a double with a TV is a joke. Lucky we opted for this option though as my boyfriend got sick and needed a day in bed. He watched the Australian Open live and there was a movie channel. The rooms...

It was really one of the filthiest places I stayed in in India (and I am a non-spoiled budget backpacker). the rooms are poorly maintained, it seems like they did not do any basic repairs for years. the ceiling looks like it's about to collapse any moment and the toilets are broken and dirty. not to speak of the bed...

Nothing special but maybe better than others. Filthy and unfriendly but the roof terrace is kinda nice. Sheets are dirty. If you ask for another one they either refuse or give you another dirty one. No internet but it is cheap and safe. Staff just at the limit of friendly. If something doesn't work it will probably not be repaired...

It's filthy, ugly, toilets do not work that well, smelly, but you it's just Rs300 a single room and Rs500 for a double. Staff are quite annoying about tips, and the manager is quite rude, but again, it's cheap. Warm water (buckets) and nice rooftop with great people are a plus.
