After 2 hours sleep I was woken by visible insects biting me. I had several on my foot, causing it to swell. Two large ones on my back and another on my thigh. Not mosquito bites. I found several small insects in my bed. The...More

The two guests were not polite ata all with our recepcionist. They were speaking loud and saying bad words with no respect. They asked to talk to me (the manager) and I wasn't there only because it was on a sunday and sundays are my...More
Not the best hostel, but there is not much choice in Recife.
Rooms did not look as good as the pictures made them look.
Room and common areas were swarming with mossies.
Just to note this hostel is a good location for the airport but...More
Cosmopolitan hostel was the best choice I could make! Close to the beach and to lots of buses that bring you everywhere. Breakfast was perfect, rooms and public space always clean and I fell in love with the nice small garden and the two sweet...More

We picked this place based on the Lonely Planet's recommendation but I'm afraid it didn't live up to the hype. The staff were fine but not what I would call welcoming (surely you need to be more so in the low season?!), the breakfast was...More

I am planning to stay three nights in Recife in March and was thinking of staying at this hostel. I will be traveling solo so when I saw they had a tour desk I thought it would be an ideal place to be as I want to take tours of Olinda, Recife and Porto de Galinhas. My only concern is when I looked at the street view on Google maps it looked like a quiet sidestreet and I am wondering if I will be able to walk to grab a nearby dinner or to the nearby beach or am taking a big risk as a solo traveler? Does anyone out there have any input and or experiences? .

The tour desk at this hostel just refers to some brochures at the check-in desk. The staff there can help you book things but they were not the most helpful or knowledgeable in my experience. In regards to their location, it is set a couple block away from the main drag in an area where all the residences have formidable security. In my opinion I would suggest that you stay closer to the beach or more in town. I didn't have any problems when I stayed there with a group but I never felt that safe walking too and from the hostel and in addition it was a pain that none of the taxi drivers knew how to get to this place even when given the address. We ended up to resorting to having a map on us with the location of the hostel marked in it. Good luck planning your trip!
