We have stayed here before in the winter months but this winter did not top off our motor home's propane tank before arriving. Decided to call and get a delivery from numerous local dealers. As it turns out, the State Park prohibits delivery of propane to the camp ground. So if you plan to use propane to heat your motor...

The campground had spacious lots and clean showers and bathrooms. Quiet and peaceful for the most part. Do not reserve a site on Raccoon Rd if you want quiet. It's the main road to all sites. It's a busy road. Most do not obey the speed limit. The only down sides are fire ants. They are being treated but watch...

Gulf State Park has alot going for it. The most important thing in our opinion is LOCATION. It's in the middle of Gulf Coast activities, but feels far far away from the frenzy of the high rise condos and tourist craziness. More bike & hiking trails are being added - we biked and hiked all that were available - a...

We spent two weeks here in Nov./Dec. and had a great time. The weather could have been better but the camping was great. The parking pad is level and large. A picnic table was on site and a hibachi grill provided. WiFi was only available at the office and at an activity building, but I am told it is soon...

My family and I stayed here for about two weeks in October. The lots are large and the campground is well kept. The only down fall is it is not walking distance to the gulf. We will definitely be back next year though.

Thanks for your review. I am so happy to hear that you will be back next year because part of all of the new things being added to the park is a trails and walkover that will allow our campground guests to safely and easily get the beach without their car. Thanks again and hope you enjoy your next stay...

Gulf State Park campground is a very large campground located across the Beach Highway from the Gulf. Sites on Sumac Road, where we stayed, are roomy and some have partial shade from trees that survived Hurricane Ivan. There were 3 bath houses close by and they were kept very clean and well-stocked. There are bike paths throughout the State Park,...

What a great park!! Swimming pool, basketball court, tennis courts, Nature Center, Activity Center, miles of hiking and biking trails. Boat launch and three separate lakes for fishing. They offer bike rentals and an awesome tour through a segment of the trails on a Segway scooter.

First time to park really liked it spaces are level with a lot of room between the places bath houses close utilities all in working order would have given five star but girls in office very rude. They were rude when trying to make reservations and when we asked info during our stay. The park rangers/ security were very nice....

After visiting GS in the past and staying at the condos, we tried the state park campground with our camper. In a weeks time, we had a very clear picture of how the state park system in alabama "works" and is going down the drain. A couple warnings for potential campers to consider: 1- they dont give any good sam...

Thank you for your review. I would like to address your concerns for future guests: 1. Correct, none of Alabama State Parks give Good Sam discounts. I don't believe any state parks do. I think that program is mostly for more private campgrounds. 2. Our park is located on the beautiful white sand beach of Gulf Shores. We offer free...

We stayed for 6 nights here. The entrance is actually off of Hwy 182 and not Hwy 135 as directed via GPS. The park is phenomenal. The campsites are big and roads easily assessable. The sites do not back up to one another as there are woods behind almost all. The bath houses are very clean and in good order....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Approximately 1.5 miles from the white sands of the gulf beaches, Gulf State Park offers a 496-site improved campground including 11 modern bathhouses, pull-thru sites, back-in sites, water front campsites, and ADA accessible sites. Tents are also welcome in our campground. Great for spending time with family and friends, all camping pads are paved and big enough for large RVs with pullouts. All sites have water, sewer and electricity (20, 30, and 50 amp), a picnic table, and pedestal grill. There are laundry facilities and recycling bins located beside the Campstore to accommodate our guests. There are two playgrounds located in the campground. Gulf State Park offers very limited WiFi service and cannot guarantee service. New to Gulf State Park are 11 brand new primitive camping sites that include stone campfire rings, grill tops, and picnic tables. These new sites are nestled among the trees and on the creek, and include access to the bathhouses, playgrounds, and laundry facilities. ... more   less
