Our second stay here, This time, under new management, for a belated Valentine's getaway. The service level did not skip a beat. Food quality, as well. We stayed in the Alexander Suite, this time. Very comfortable and peaceful. We can see the need for some updates, but management already has this planned, so this is just an FYI to everyone, not a criticism. Tiffany and Chris provided us a wonderful experience, in making sure that we enjoyed our stay, We also got to meet their Family. That's what we look for, when staying at a B&B. Kudos to Tiff/Chris/Family, for another great stay !

My partner and I were doing a road trip and as I come from England, I was really keen to experience a traditional Southern B&B and not stay in another hotel, this location did not disappoint. When we arrived I was concerned that it would be difficult to find places in walking distance to eat, but City Harbour had everything we needed for a great evening out. Our room was just beautiful and quaint and it was clear the owner had injected a lot of detail into the decor. The bed was super comfy and the linen was fresh and really good quality, the private bathroom was clean and continued to have the nice individual touches, especially the dressing gowns. In the evening there was a happy hour which was a lovely opportunity to meet the other guests, we were lucky enough to meet 2 daughters who brought their beautiful mum for a special birthday. I love to meet people on my travels, and you don't get opportunities like this in most hotels, which makes this location so special. The breakfast was 'to die for', everything tasted fresh and was clearly homemade and there was plenty to choose from. This was my first time having grits but my partner has assured me I had been spoilt because they rarely tasted as good as this. I also loved that there was a small, and well stocked kitchen on our floor where we could grab a soft drink from the fridge or make a hot drink. The location is just stunning, I deliberately got up at 06:30 and run outside to get a photo of the sun rising. I fell in love with Alabama, and I will be definitely going back to this gem of a property.

We had a two day stay in the Hooper Room on the first level. The king bed was totally awesome. Sheets were extremely soft and bed was so comfortable. It is a large room and also is equipped with a small refrigerator and coffee maker. Nice shower and everything is clean. Breakfast was delicious and also had a bar with muffins, yogurt and fruit. We ate breakfast outside on the porch with fresh flowers on the tables. Innkeeper was very nice. Just a short walk to the City Harbor.

We enjoyed our stay here! Breakfast was delicious. We had a view of the lake from our balcony. Everyone else wanted that view, so we met 4 of our fellow guests at “happy hour.” Meeting the owners and fellow guests is the number one reason we stay in B&Bs. We met more guests on the porch at breakfast. We had a Canadian couple, a young newlywed couple, a Mom and daughter having a ladies’ getaway, a local couple enjoying the weekend. All had great travel tips and stories to share. We ended up having a delightful dinner with the Canadians, who happened to be dining at the same spot we’d picked (don’t miss Rock House Eatery!) There’s plenty to do in and around beautiful Guntersville. Next time we plan to take a sightseeing cruise. There are trails and parks beside the lake. There are wineries. The Little River Canyon is beautiful. Cathedral Caverns, The Space Center in Huntsville. You will NOT get bored. It is truly a miracle that any hospitality business has survived covid, and owner Michelle is to be thanked and commended for maintaining this piece of history (built in 1910) for all to enjoy.

We finished up a week long girls trip staying at the Hooper House for 2 nights. The room was perfect for us. We stayed in the Alexander room and each had our own bathroom. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony right outside our door. As with B&Bs, the inn keeper and staff make the experience, and Michele, the owner, and her staff were amazing. Michele's culinary skills are incredible. We really enjoyed the breakfasts. They gave great recommendation of local restaurants. The Boat House is awesome. And don't miss the Harbor View Winery just a block away. We will definitely go back to the Hooper House.

My husband and I just spent our 10 year anniversary at Hooper House this weekend and it was exactly the thing we needed! Michelle was an amazing hostess, and took such great care of us. The rooms were clean and cozy, we didn’t want for anything. There were complementary bikes for us to use which was great since Guntersville is beautiful and very scenic. There are plenty of areas to hike and enjoy the outdoors and the main strip of town has lots of shops, a gorgeous spa and several restaurants within walking distance of the bed and breakfast. Speaking of breakfast- it was SO delicious! My favorite was the stuffed French toast Michelle prepared for us. Hands down, the best I have ever had! I also loved the homemade sangria served at happy hour- so yummy. This woman is seriously a rockstar. She had a smile on her face each time we saw her and she made us feel so comfortable and at home. I will say this- I had some trouble getting in touch with someone to ask a couple of questions prior to booking. But once I arrived I could see why. This woman is running this whole show by herself! She literally does everything. So please have some grace if you don’t get her right away. She’s not sitting at the front desk waiting to answer the phone and most of the questions can be answered via the website, anyway. You seriously won’t regret staying here, and once you arrive you will see why! It’s absolutely worth your time and I’m looking forward to our next stay. We’ll absolutely be back!

Lovely bed and breakfast! Clean and comfortable. Stylish, tasteful decor. Great breakfast too. Only negative is after we had already been waiting over half an hour for breakfast, another couple sat down and within a minute of being seated, they were served 2 breakfast plates that should have gone to us. It was annoying but these things happen. I know there’s a lot to manage on site and it wasn’t intentional. After 45 mins, we were served a tasty breakfast that was worth the wait!
