Layang Layang Guest House is located at Blacksmith Street, which is known today as Jalan Tukang Besi. It is only one-minute walk to Jonker Street (Jonker Walk), and is the best location during your exploration in one of the oldest heritage sites in Malaysia that is preserved till today. The building of the guesthouse is believed to be over 100 years old. Back in the olden days, it used to be a famous opium den, and was once a brothel too! As you stay in the wooden house with history, it often feels like travelling back in time. Its original structure remains, including the large beautiful courtyard that represents the “feng shui” of the house. Fully restored since 2013, the guesthouse offers a fusion of old world charm and modern convenience. Today, it has a total of 20 fully air-conditioned rooms and 8 shared bathrooms that are cleaned and well-maintained at all times and equipped with quality toilet amenities. Combined with modern and heritage design, we assure our guests staying with pleasure and views of the heritage street. Carefully selected room furniture, cozy lobby, and the secret garden create a clean, soothing, and comfortable environment for your breakaway relaxation experience.

Room and toilet are very clean. No need to worry as it was shared toilet. Price are reasonable especially for low budget trip. Location was strategic because it locate beside Jonker Street, just a 5mins walk will do

My impression is just normal guest house. But it's really nice place where you can just drop your bag and start exploring surround Jonker Street and Melaka Raya area. It just a walking distance. Room is spacious for 2 person with aircond and fan. The bed is so comfortable which I had a very good night sleep. The shower and washroom is separate. Room is not a soundproof, beware! Decoration of the place is simple but nice from entrance to your room. Will considered stay again here.

Initially wanted to stay at another place, but we came across this stay. Loved the decor from entrance all the way to the bedrooms! The ambience and infrastructure really gives the vibe of nineties. The staffs are really wonderful as well. Would definitely recommend to others as long as you are not picky about pristine cleanliness! :))

We chooses to stay on first floor because the foreign worker show us the ground floor room the wall is moldy and room have very bad moist smell. But the First floor room doesn’t better than ground floor room. The floor is make by wooden and it’s very thin and some of the woods has been tilted up and it’s dangerous to walk. We have to walked very carefully. Plus, every step you walk has a sound. So it’s very annoying. Locations is ok. That’s few hostel nearby which is much better than this. Not recommended.

We were delighted to find a nice welcoming communal area within this characterful guest house. It is well located in the centre of town and our superior room is really spacious and cool. There are plenty of showers and toilets and a nice fish pond in the courtyard.

Characteristic house & courtyard, but our room smelled bad (moldy as far as I can judge). Rooms feel cheaper than most hostels we’ve stayed in (tiny and paper thin walls). Combined with uninterested staff we did not get the “at home” feeling we get in most other places we visit. For the price we would have expected to receive towels (and maybe not have a communal bathroom). We did not understand the positive reviews until we saw the deal for free bike rental advertised—only if you show the staff your review..
