I stayed at the jalan jalan guesthouse for 3 nights with my boyfriend. We had an amazing experience!!! The owner and his family are very sweet and friendly, making you feel like you are part of the family. The rooms are very simple but very nice. Since The place has been recently taken over by the new owner, there was no AC installed yet. But future plans include AC, a cute garden breakfast area, cheap beer and an area for people to hang out and socialize. FOR ARTISTS: IF YOU WANNA SHARE YOUR ART WITH THE HOSTEL, THEY LET YOU PAINT ON THE WALLS THAT ARE EMPTY!!! I would recommend this place to everybody who is looking for a comfortable stay with great hospitality! I will definitely come back!

The staff here needs an attitude adjustment or to find a different job. Don't ruin your time in ruin Melacca by staying here. One guy is the rudest guesthouse staff I've come across in SE Asia. Not helpful at all, derogatory to females - "smile, you'll be pretty", he would interrupt and talk over people who are trying to ask questions about the guesthouse services/facilities and if he did acknowledge their question it would be to point to a sign on the wall or say it's all online. I even overheard him turning away and refuse bookings of guests because they "asked too many questions".

Room price was really cheap. Pretty basic guest house for Melaka and in a great location not far from jonker walk. Staff were super friendly and helpful, recommending places to see and good restaurants! Would definitely recommend.

I enjoyed my stay at Jalan Jalan. I was a bit worried when I first went in the room as there was a strong musty smell and it was because reception, but actually I slept like a baby. The old house has a lot of character. The two guys running it were really genuine and helpful. Decent wifi. Overall I was happy here and recommend it. The only down point is that all unpaid rooms are put online so you might have to check out.

I stayed here and it was the most horrible space ever checked in extremely tired. I didn't want to say anything with anyone just said what I need to say for checking In and waswaiting for my room. the guy in the reception has told me to smile because other people see my face and think it's bad. first I thought I heard something wrong and I asked him "sorry what did you say ?" he just kept saying smile are you tired ? smile. I was shocked.i have been travelling for a long time never met anyoneworking inreceptiontellingmeto smile or not. I was extremely tired and just went to my bed and the next day I went to extend my room and I just simply said can I extend one more night and even though the other person in the room has told me that the room was almost empty for 1 week he took ages to see the internet probably pretending like he was checking. I gave him the money and i said " do i get a receipt ?" and he just ignored and then next I said " do I get a receipt??" and he was like its alright go go if you dont want to stay here. that's all he said. so I asked him what his problem is and he said to me do you want to take your money back ? I never even said anything about it and I was trying to go outside and the strange French couple came in and the reception guy told the couples I'm very rude and it was clearly understandable for me. I went inisdw and asked him what his problem is and he just said " you cant talk to me like that " and they started to attach me how " i dont say hello to people hostel for long term travelers like me is a place where i rest. most people come to the hostel to sleep not all of them want to socialize and I was extremely distressed from being robbed and missing my flight and it was totally preposterous that I have to deal with such thing just because I didn't say hi and I wasn't smiling just like I said to him if you are reading this post which I will post on aussie / Korean/ American websites. if you bash people like this just because I didn't smile or say hi you are wrong I do not act rude to people and all I did was just saying what I needed to say and I dont need to be a friend with anyone with the reception guy nor anyone what a horrible experience
