We had Heeren House recommended to us by a friend that used to live in Melaka and have not been disappointed. It is a small guesthouse with 6 rooms. The room we had was upstairs and looked out over the river. It is located within the main tourist area and next to Jonker Walk so everything is on the doorstep....

We stayed only one night in Melaka, having caught the sleeper train from Penang (or more accurately Bukit Mertajam station) to Tampin and then the taxi (RM 60) from Tampin to Melaka. Despite arriving at 0800, it was no problem for us to leave our bags at the guest house until our room was ready at 1230. It is perfectly...

As we broke our stay up in Melaka to stay in two different places, there's always that time in between check out and check in which you dread lugging your bags/backpacks around. Liz at Heeren House minded our bags until our room was ready which was a welcome relief in the heat and hustle bustle of Melaka. The guesthouse is...

After two years I was abck in Melaka - this time for a conference. I did stay in two other properties - both more expensive. But for personal service and a home away from home feel, Heeren House tops the list. If you want 5* poshness and pool, this is not for you. If you want character, personal attention and...

Heeren House is one of the best places my wife and I stayed during our travels through S.E. Asia. The location is perfect - right along the waterfront and a short walk to all the great places including Jonker Street. The house is at least 100 years old and has plenty of character. And the breakfast in phenomenal. Other guest...

I loved Heeren House. I chose it because of the tripadvisor reviews, and it was ALMOST perfect. The location could not have been better. All of irresistible Melaka is just a stroll away. The room was sweet, and complete; I have no idea if the TV worked, as we had better things to do. Our hosts were forthcoming, although not...

We were in the downstairs room at the back of the house which was pretty unremarkable, with a small one person at a time bathroom. Maybe the upper floor rooms have more character? Liz and Bernard were helpful hosts and the simple breakfast cooked fresh to order and served in the nice surroundings of the cafe/shop.

My parents in their late 60's were totally charmed, as were we. The location doesn't get any better, and the store in the front has some lovely hand-picked items.

Heeren House is a quaint building overlooking the river in an excellent location. The room was very clean, bathroom basic but clean and wonderful atmosphere. I think it was a bit overpriced and the cooked breakfast was not very generous - 1 egg, 2 slices of cooked tomato, 1 small sausage (hot dog) and half a has brown. Serving half...

15 Ringitts from the Bus Station by taxi, and 15 minutes! Great location by the river and quiet at night. Good English breakfast, although no local food choice! Excellent service from Liz and Bernard who advised us on directions and other local info. Okay, so the television is rubbish, some of us want away from that intrusion! My only complaint,...
