Well, we’re back on the road after being locked down. This is the fourth review of four hotel stays – Clarksville, TN, Texarkana, TX, Houston, TX and Mobile, AL. Some hotels have been using the reopening time to do some refurbishments and the location currently suffers for that reason. Don’t believe the web sites saying they are serving breakfast. There is a big disparity on what they are doing. In all of our years of travelling, I think this was our first time at a Drury. We would probably do it again for the right hotel rate. The room was clean and well decorated. The room was twin queens and very compact. There was a single sink with limited counter space. Beds were good. Air conditioning was in the ceiling – not a unit in the wall – and was loud when it ran. Temperature was well maintained. We were fourth floor way at the end of the building and wifi seemed weak from there. In the lobby it was quick and responsive. The staff here were the best we found. All wore masks, were appropriately dressed and very friendly. They get very high marks. Drawbacks? There is one elevator to handle three floors and thirty rooms on each floor. People were riding up to hold an elevator to go back down. This hotel has bus tour business. I can’t fault management for the business decision. Having been on bus tours, we know how that can mess up some operations with everyone trying to go up or down at roughly the same time while also handling other guests. Unfortunately, you only find this detail out when you get on site. I don’t know if the hotel would directly answer a question about number or frequency of bus tours staying there.…
The location is what it is - close to complicated interchanges. The staff were friendly, the room a good size and everything works. The breakfast (cafeteria stye these days) was good. The three free drinks with a food in the early evening was really good. It's a real meal. Altogether, I would certainly stay there again.
We use Drury for our corporate clients in another state so I was excited to try it out. The bed was comfortable, the desk was perfect for remote work and the staff was incredibly friendly! It’s not easy getting on the main highway due to the layout so be warned if you aren’t use to these types of roads.
When I first stayed here 15 years ago, it was a great chain, Their nitche in the marketplace was pet friendly. They were the first to do that. Pets were free with many nice amenities. Since then, you are charged 35 ( and the taxes on that come to 45 ). You are no longer allowed to walk into the lobby with your dog, nor are u allowed on an elevator. You park a long way away and walk up the stairs. That sucks, given they made their name of being pet friendly. The clientele in Mobile was pretty sketchy, I was nervous about leaving my Mercedes parked in the side lot. I’d rather pay more and stay at a nicer hotel.
After a poor night at DRURY in Jackson MS, I was encouraged by this hotel. Very nice and clean inside and the Kickback dinner was outstanding. Funny thing is that kickback was the same menu I had had the previous night in Jackson, but just far superior quality. Pool area very nice and clean. The fitness machines do need some work. Only one piece was functioning properly. VERY congested area and hotel a bit hard to find even with GPS.
