Detailed Reviews
This is our 4th stay at this particular hotel. The location is amazing and it is very convenient to have complimentary breakfast offered daily. The beds are very comfortable and bedding and pillows are great. The housekeeping isn’t as good as it has been in the past. We stayed for 5 days, 4 nights and never had room service despite asking for it. There is no trash or dirty towel removal. They have a bin in the hallways for you to place your dirty towels which was helpful. We had to ask daily for bath towels and sometimes the request wasn’t fulfilled. One of our children had a bed potty accident and we needed sheets changed. We asked at the desk for sheet changes and they replied that they don’t enter the rooms but left us sheets to change the beds. Not a terrible situation, but not ideal for the amount of money you spend to stay here. On arrival the pullout sofa couch sheets hadn’t been changed and there were crumbs and hair on the sheets. They did change the bed but it took a stern insistence with the man at the front desk. Overall though, the arrival cleanliness was acceptable. The staff was friendly, aside from a very rude housekeeper on the 8th floor, the breakfast was appreciated and the lobby was kept clean despite everyone entering sopping wet (sorry about that). We will look elsewhere due to the housekeeping issues but wouldn’t mind to stay here again with lower expectations.

Hotel's Favourite
My family had a wonderful time at Hampton Inn Orange Beach. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel like valued guests. The perks that worked great for us were breakfast buffet, 24/7 hot beverage bar, complementary beach towels usage, free parking, late afternoon cookies, rooms towels on request, dining availability, outdoor pool, and beach side room.
Every member of the staff was helpful and friendly. There was a new employee in training who seemed to be picking up on the same wonderful service provided by the other staff members. I have only great things to say about each employee and want to make a special mention of Liz who was a joy with a infectious smile. Even during peak season, the wait in the lobby was never long. I found it easy to stop at the desk any time I had a question or needed assistance.
Instead of having to figure out a location for 3 meals plus snacks each day, we opted to have a large breakfast at the hotel, skip lunch, and then simply look for a place to have dinner. My family of 4 have different diets and I don't like finding a solution multiple times a day. I also like taking a break from meal preparation while on travel. Having the breakfast buffet in the hotel allows us to even eat at different times when it makes sense. The kids love that I don't monitor how much they are eating since I am not worried about them spoiling their lunch. Finding dinner solutions sometimes involves a lot of time on yelp or google, searching the surrounding area so I am glad I only have to do that at most once per vacation day.
24/7 hot beverage bar is great because it allows us to skip making coffee in the hotel room. Instead there was always hot coffee, tea or hot chocolate in the lobby. The kids enjoyed making their own hot chocolates since they are old enough to not need our help.
Complementary beach towels allowed me to leave the ones we brought in the car and have less wet, sandy items to deal with in the room. We simply exchanged them as needed in the lobby using their easy system to ensure we were not billed for missing towels.
Free parking is easy and FREE.
Late afternoon cookies are another simple win. When we returned from dinner, my group was happy for a quick treat.
Room towels on request are another plus. Since they do not clean the rooms daily, we were able to drop any dirty towels in the bin located on each room and request new towels either by calling the front desk or stopping by any time we were in the lobby.
There is dining availability on the first floor in the same area of the breakfast buffet. Some nights we opted for take-out so that we could each get food from wherever we wanted yet all dine together comfortably at the hotel on the beach.
We did not spend a lot of time at the outdoor pool; however, it was a great way to quickly refresh ourselves after spending hours at the beach. The water temperature was nice and cool. The pool area was always clean.
Having a beach side room made using the balcony pleasant. We used it for late afternoon reading, people watching, or simply another spot to sit and chat while taking in the view. We could see the dolphins rolling and watch over our beach spot when we were in the room.

Our room was ready on arrival. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean, but a little dated. We had an ocean view with a balcony, which was really nice. There COVID protocols were strong: the rooms were sanitized, all of the staff wore masks appropriately and they did a modified breakfast service with a pretty good selection. There was ample parking, although the spaces were tight.

We chose to book this place over a condo for 7 nights, that was a mistake. We were in town for a separate event so we thought a hotel would make sense since we really just needed a place to sleep. The breakfast is redundant, same 2 day rotation but it was edible. Although the hotel is well decorated, beach is beautiful, some things missed the mark. Had we known that pets were welcome we would NOT have booked here. I understand people love their pets but I did not enjoy the constant dogs in the lobby, especially owners eating with them in the lobby/breakfast area. This morning an owner was eating and the dog continued to bark because it wanted the food too, this went on for over 30 mins until the family finished eating, then they walked the dog around the deck area. Last night the room across from us had 2 dogs that barked whenever anyone walked by. Dogs were in the elevators, and constantly being brought through the lobby it was too much and due to my husband’s allergies we would not have booked here.
The room is serviced every other day, although towels can be requested as needed, it was kind of a hassle. There are full size shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the showers, they were not filled and when I questioned the staff in the hall about refilling I was given small bars of soap. There was no place in our shower to place the bar of soap since the small ledge in the shower had fallen off around day 2 of our stay (while I was showering) we notified the cleaning staff in the hallway as well as the front desk after it happened, but it was never fixed. They said the bottles in the shower could not be refilled. So fortunately there is a CVS across the street and we bought shampoo and conditioner. Since we had flown in to Pensacola we had not brought our own and expected this amenity to be provided. On our last night in the room I needed to call the front desk and discovered our room phone didn’t work, there was no dial tone. Another odd thing, our room was serviced on our last day, but when we returned in the evening there was cleaner laying in the floor next to the toilet and they seemed to have used one of our dirty washcloths to clean the toilet since it was laying on top of the toilet tank. Just kind of disgusting to think that’s what they used to clean and made us wonder if it was used on the sink and counter too. We are usually fans of Hamptons this one just doesn’t hit the mark for us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at our hotel. We sincerely apologize that your stay fell short of your expectations, particularly regarding the housekeeping issues and pet policies. We understand your point about the breakfast and appreciate your feedback. We strive to offer a convenient option for guests on the go, but we will certainly consider your suggestion for more variety. Regarding pets, we apologize that the presence of other guests' pets impacted your enjoyment of the lobby and breakfast area. We do have a pet policy in place, and we will take steps to ensure it is being followed appropriately. We understand this may not have been ideal for your husband's allergies, and we regret we were not made aware of this beforehand. We are truly sorry about the inconsistencies with housekeeping service. Every other day housekeeping is our standard procedure, with the option for guests to request fresh towels daily. However, the lack of refilled toiletries and the broken shower ledge are unacceptable. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and that our staff was unable to provide a satisfactory solution. We will be reviewing these issues with our housekeeping team to ensure they are addressed moving forward. The malfunctioning phone and the unhygienic cleaning practices you described are completely unacceptable and do not reflect our standards. We will be thoroughly investigating these incidents and taking appropriate corrective actions. We appreciate your loyalty to the Hamptons brand, and we hope you'll give us another chance to demonstrate the exceptional service we strive to provide. If you'd be open to discussing your experience further, please don't hesitate to contact us! We hope to see you again soon! -Alex

My wife and I wanted to book a weekend trip just to get away swim chill in the hot tub I never thought the hotel would be under construction they didn't advertise it anywhere but in the front lobby of the hotel. We got the we was told $25 a piece pet fee when we called ahead cause I have a big dog and I wanted to make sure he met the pet guidelines so we get there the pet fee is $75 for 3 days $100 for 4 or more so we pay the $75 with a $43 check in fee note the original reservation 2 nights $219 so we are at $377 for the stay get to your room look out the window at the pool / beach view they charged extra for construction no pool no hot tubs so we wasted our whole first day seeing for Priceline could find us a new room they wanted an additional $300 for the new room note this was supposed to be a quick fun cheap weekend trip so no we didn't relocate but the front deck lady eventually told us after asking if we could pay to swim somewhere that we could swim at a few of the sister hotels a few miles down the road so we got dressed to go swimming come back to the room go to take a shower the water is cold 🥶 we just ran thru two hotels to swim and ur telling me I got no hot water. After that we went to lay down and watch some tv nope no wifi it was so week you couldn't steam a video and guess what at check out I had to pay $50 the reason he said he didn't know his computer wouldnt show him but I couldn't check out til I paid it! All in all Hilton as gonna extremely down hill no new pool will help the attitude in your employees, randomly $50 fee everytime you turn around and the breakfast is the same items on a free buffet but they charge you $7 and item or $15 a tray for crappy fake bacon and powder eggs and they put up a wall in the morning so you think breaks is gonna be good but it ain't all in all well never return here or send anyone thank you I don't have any pictures I do at your sister hotel The hoildays in Express down the road was very kind and welcoming 🙂

great location but not so great service. we stayed on the 7th floor and had to go down to floor 3 to get ice (the other floor's machine were out of order). the breakfast is gross the eggs are powdered - stick with the waffles. We stayed a week and after 3 days we asked for housekeeping, they did not show up so we asked again that evening and we were told to "remind them in the morning" Most of the employees are very friendly but the front desk acts like you are bothering them if you ask for anything. Nice pool and beach area but the hotel lacks customer service lots of "rough housing" at the pool and we have yet to be able to get into the hot tub due to the teenagers filling it up.

This aging beachfront property is in dire need of refurbishing and refreshing primarily in guestrooms. Previous reviews on this property reflect true in that much of the furnishings in guestrooms are extremely worn, stained, and in dire need of replacement. I’ve often stated that one of the most important aspects of a hotel property is providing comfortable bedding for weary travelers. We found the bedding here to be extremely backbreaking.
While true most would state that hotel “complementary“ breakfast is nothing to rave about, we found our single experience in this area to be unsatisfactory. For example, the fresh fruit was flavorless.
On the positive side, the off-season rate for a Surfside studio was phenomenal. Very affordable and provided a fantastic view of the Gulf. The front desk person was extremely professional, cordial, and accommodating. The property itself, even though built years ago, is in good condition considering the salt air environment. It was extremely well developed and laid out.

Guest services would not do housekeeping despite that I paid for it and there was a sign on the mirror that said they would do basic services by request. There was mold in the bathtub and all over the pool and hot tub area. Pool had pieces missing. No umbrellas for shade. No end tables to put things on in pool area. All dining tables and umbrellas were removed with the exception of 3 at the tiki bar. All outdoor furniture is weather beaten. They refused to do cookies at 5 which is something that was very special to me. They said they only do it basically if they feel like it. For the 3 nights I was there, I guess they didn't feel like it. The tiki bar was closed most of the time as well. I used to stay at this Hampton for almost the first decade they were open. There wasn't a better hotelnon the beach that was more wheelchair friendly (my husband was in a chair) It was a very different place then with a much friendlier staff who called us by name and treated us like family. Now, it just qualifies to me as an over priced microtel.

While this is a direct beachfront property, for the price of $500-600/night one would expect clean, comfortable & decent accommodations. This is NOT that place! Cleaning Protocols for Covid-19 were posted, but definitely not being completed bu the staff. Hotel room bathroom had grime & mold in several locations, refrigerator had not been wiped out & flat services had not been cleaned much less disinfected. Common Areas just as bad: Hot tub had full ring of disgusting discoloration/mold around the outside edge, Lobby/pool restrooms not properly cleaned or maintained, elevator floor tiles were cracked & missing grout causing a tripping hazard.

I made a reservation to this hotel through what I thought was Hampton's website--Reservation.com. After making my initial reservation, I called the hotel to change the room to a gulf front. I thought all was good until I arrived at the hotel and was informed that I needed to pay an additional amount because the party who made the reservation with them would not give them a refund for the room I originally booked. I called Reservation.com to try to get it straightened out but was told the hotel was not working with them to get my refund for the original booking. After several phone calls and numerous emails, I don't know who is holding this up; but I feel like I've been scammed and no one is willing to help. I would stay away from this hotel if possible because of that reason. The worst part about it is I'm a Hilton Honors member and am very disappointed with this Hampton.

Beachside, best to book hotel dire rly through the Hilton website.
The suites at Hampton Inn & Suites Orange Beach/Gulf Front hotel are actually studios -- extra-large rooms with a long desk area dividing the room into two parts -- sleeping area and sitting area. The TV mounted in the divider swivels so that it can be viewed from the bed area or the sitting area.
Just inside the door to the hall is a wet bar containing small sink, refrigerator, microwave, drawers, and long countertop.
The vanity area with sink and large mirror is open to the studio with mirrored-door closet on one side and bathroom containing tub/shower and toilet on the other side.
I posted a review with 9 photos in December that may be helpful. The photos on the hotel website are great for seeing the layout of the studio rooms, but of course, the photos were made when the upholstery was new.
The king studio rooms are on the west side of the building. Originally, they gave a nice view down the coast, but a hotel built next door in recent years is now the view from the king studios.
Queen studios are located beach-front and on the east side of the building. The city of Orange Beach is currently building a development on the east side which causes construction noise to rooms on the east side of the building. The queen studios on the beach front are the best and most expensive rooms.
One of my photos shows the hotel floor plan for the floors that have no public spaces such as fitness room and swimming pool.
It is walled off in the winter.
Even number are ocean view. You definitely want ocean view.
I think so, but no glass containers. They have a Tiki bar near the pool.
