I booked through the IHG group looking for hotels in Shanghai; Indigo turned out to be amazingly surprising. It exhudes character, from the moment you walk into the lobby, to the breakfast, and to the rooms with spectacular views of the river and the city. All details in the room are attended to to maximize guests' comfort. The location is...

Indigo on the bund is the best hotel to stay in Shanghai. Rooms are full of character, tailor decorated to make your stay unforgettable and special. Any other 5 star hotel in Shanghai are standard, but Indigo adds a local twist and taste to the room. This hotel has also the best view on the bund, you can see the...

elenaweng ! How are you? Hope this note finds you well. Yes the eclectic even whimsical nature of the the public space and guest rooms demonstrate great care in the design and initial art work and accent pieces selected for the property. As each simply add their own layer to the already rich history of the the city and our...

The hotel is on the south end of the Bund, 25 minute walk to the main viewing area. Close to dinner cruises. The restaurant serves a good selection and quality food. The room was a little small if you have large suitcases. Room quality was excellent and a large range in the mini bar. Staff very helpful and cheerful.

I booked this as it was part of the IHG group, but it's not like any other IHG hotel I've stayed in. The entrance is really dark, almost like walking in to a night club! The staff were lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely. Beautifully decorated and had an amazing view. The location...

An experience that will bring a smile to your face as soon as you step in. The hotel location cannot be beat and overlooks the river . I was upgraded to a suite room and the room decor was eclectic and little touches and art were everywhere in both the hotel and the room. The view from the room of...

When we checked in, the clerk asked if we would be interested in upgrading our room. Being a big sport, I took the deal. I am really glad that we did. We were spending four nights and don't anticipate returning to Shanghai. The room was great. It has a separate living area and large windows that overlooked the river. At...

We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the bund. Absolutely stunning views especially at night when the buildings light up. The room was modern and yet decorated to give a feel of the ancient orient. The swimming pool was quiet and changing facilities were luxurious. The only negative thing I found was that the reception area is very...

Greetings g4zz4 We are glad to read that you recently made Hotel Indigo your recent hotel of choice while here in Shanghai. It really is a fantastic boutique hotel with all of the facilities you would expect from a five star luxury hotel on the bund but with a far more reasonable price tag and a friendly proactive staff that...

A cool hotel that's practically on the river! Great location. Friendly, English speaking staff. We stayed in a corner room that was comfortable, clean and had amazing views. Very nice amenities. Will definitely be staying again!

This hotel is off the beaten path, but don't let that scare you. Right on the river and with great rooms, this hotel is the typical place I stay. There are less places to eat close by, so if you don't want to take a small walk or quick taxi trip to some of the more common areas, you might...

Greetings bretntev- Thanks for your review and kind comments - we look forward to welcoming you back soon. However, I must mention that the new Bund Financial Center is just beginning to open its doors to the public and with that will come an amazing array of new high end retail, restaurants and bars. So after you have had a...

Staying in South Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Indigo’s first property in Asia Pacific opened its doors in December 2010. Sitting directly on the Huangpu riverfront, Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund assures not only spectacular views of both the historic Bund and dramatic Pudong skylines, but an upscale boutique hotel experience where the focus is on inspired service, fresh and vibrant design reflecting the local neighbourhood, and providing guests with an authentic taste of today’s Shanghai, where old and new converge. Featuring 184 rooms, including 23 suites, each individually designed room at Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund provides all of the creature comforts expected from an upscale boutique property, but they are anything but ordinary. Maximizing the spectacular views and combining traditional and modern Chinese design and bespoke pieces, each room provides an intimate haven and unexpected details – be it the walk in “shell shower” featured in a number of guest bathrooms, the oversized wet room with spectacular views, the reclaimed Shikumen brick feature wall or the hidden refreshment bar with individually designed tea sets. All Guests can enjoy the bund view at the public areas. Attention: The Shanghai Regulations on Smoking Control in Public Places took effect on March 1, 2017.
