I just got a normal room, not a Japanese style room aside by the freeway but the noise level was low. The hotel was a little bit old but the service was OK. Wifi is separated by rooms. Each room has its own password. Taxi is ok but you need to walk for subway.

I had booked a Japanese Deluxe Garden View Room and they will not honor my booking and have given me a room over looking the freeway! I spoke to the Duty Manager and he would not doing anything about it and when I asked for his business card he said he didn't have one! However after pushing him he past...

I have been living in Shanghai for 6 years and am in my last few days of my life here. I tried staying in an Air BNB apartment for a few days and simply couldn't handle being in what turned out to be squalor. I decided to check online knowing that this is a low peak time of year -...

Close to line 2 metro station, and with a couple of good restaurants - one Chinese and one traditional Japanese. Nice big gym, and a spa tub with relaxing lie down turbo jets, sauna a a good sized infinity pool overlooking their own ornamental garden. A littel bit further away from the Bund, East and West Nainjing Roads but within...

At first sight it met my expectations of a Japanese chain. The lobby looks nice, checking was very fast and courteous.. The room is nice, the bed and linens are clean and comfortable. The bathroom looks ok, but the joints of the shower are dirty, the bathtub wasn't clean with soap residue from the previous user. I had breakfast at...

I have stayed at this hotel 4 times and checking out this morning just confirmed how bad the staff are. On arrival I was given a room overlooking the road, having asked for a quiet room overlooking the garden. When I went down to change rooms they told me there was nothing they could do but change me to a...

Before I booked this hotel I read many reports about the breakfast here. Wow what a bummer!!! What were these people writing about. Firstly the breakfast here is really expensive. Second the staff have no idea what they are doing and thirdly it was oh so average But the rooms are nice ( but expensive) I think that in this...

Stayed in January 2011. Opulent property close to my destination. Efficient, quick check in. Heated toilet seats. Luxurious king bed. Wonderful pool for lap swimming. Loved the shower and tub for bubble bath. Staff had to help with internet connection which they did efficiently. Conducted Skype business in room with no problem. Great views. Large windows. Felt pampered the whole...

Rooms are great, no question. Service is mediocre and catering in bar and was disappointing. Food is less than acceptable for this class of hotel. One can find better places for less money. Tried it twice, but now I stay away.

We had an overall great stay at Hotel Nikko. The hotel is in a great location, it is walking distance from the very nice quarters of French Consession where many great restaurants are found. The rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean, the beds were wonderful! We stayed two nights on 19:th floor in what I believe a delux room. Wonderful...

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
